I understand your feeling for a slower tempo. True with an orchestra, but this is piano and a really "live" one at that. You can't do a slower tempo with this kind of piano or it will drag. We did many takes on this piece because it's quite difficult to get all the nuances necessary to make it work with a 4 hands arrangement. It may LOOK easy, but it wasn't. It took a lot of work and concentration, especially for me to follow the lead, or Primo.
in my eyes this song needs to be a little slower. when i hear it that way with a full symphony it flows so nicely. most people take this song rather quick and it destroys the potential for a free natural moving piece.
