{Part 2}.....another memorable moment....I felt sick, so i laid my head on my desk (which is what the nuns usually told you to do when you didn't feel well). I ended up falling asleep. Now it gets good, or in my case pure humiliation.....they marched all the classes on the 1st floor, grades 1 through 6 into my 2nd grade class to "look at me".....and used me as an example to warn the students to "get to bed on time at night." I surely hope all these nuns are now rotting in hell where they belong.
{Part 1}..... I went to catholic school from 1960 to 1966 in Newton, Massachusetts. It was a "living hell". As an example....in the "first grade" there was a girl with a cast on her arm. For some reason she was standing up (instead of sitting down at her desk.) Dear Sister Rosaline yelled to her "SIT DOWN "or i'll break your other arm". Now thats something every 6 year old should hear, isn't it?
I went to Chicago Catholic schools...hated them at the time. However, I now realize what a gift I was given as compared to my public school counterparts. My kids will DEFINITELY go to Chicago Catholic schools. Thank You Sister Pierre!
Yeah, I survived Catholic grade schools in Chicago in the 50-60's.. I think the worst thing about it was that none of the teachers-lay or nuns- were even certified in the state of Illinois as teachers. We were always told how "dedicated" they were-that they could "earn more teaching in public schools but did it for us", etc. Later I found out that few were even college grads.
Grateful I had Jesuits in high school-they remedied a lot of the damage.

Went to the CHM today and saw the exhibit. It's fantastic!
Don't forget to write "your own Catholic school memories" in the book at one of the desks in the video viewing area. :)
