  • just got a free sheetmusic .pdf :P

  • Maybe those 7 dislikes come from people who know something about the history of music, and were expecting the actual song, which predates this song by about 80 years, which has been performed by countless musicians who can play this joker under the table.

  • just bought the sheet music!!! amazing!!!

  • @taho032 where?

  • Dear Jon Schmidt,

Today, I watch your youtube videos like they're my source of energy.

15 years from today, I'm going to write a song. It's going to be bold. Beautiful. And fun. Just like this one. And Jon Schmidt? I'll invite you to my concert ;)

    You're my inspiration

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE This song my favorite! I want to learn it so bad. I have been trying. My cousin can play it and I really want to be able to play it.

  • I am amazed how epic hemakes this song sound. Its really a strong song to play and I am so grateful that he wrte.

  • i'm learning this song, love it

  • LOVE PLAYING THIS SONG!

  • Wow, it's the first time when I see someone really playing with elbows and it still sounds so damn good!

  • @amberi1992 want to see some1 playing with his ass and it still sounds good check /watch?v=NzGgX1DihPw to the end :)

  • I don't like this song that much, yes it's challenging, but it isn't that beautiful. It's only nice :)

  • i'm far from an advanced pianist and i've learned this over time and i'm pretty close to having it down, so nobody get discouraged. :)

  • @heidiadeleb Wow! Thank you for the motivation! I want to learn the song, too, and even if it'll take me a while, I don't want to give up because I know it'll be worth it in the end. I just have one question about using the palms. Is it hard to do that or did you choose not to use your palms, or do you HAVE to use your palms?

  • oh. my. god. i'm in love:)

I wanna learn this.. but i'll fail so badly:P

  • Lol. Aheh. This may take a while.

  • It takes determination, persistence and a heck of a long time to learn this song. But believe me when I say that once you've learnt it well and belt it out on the piano YOU FEEL AWESOME!

Keep going and don't give up! You will get there eventually! If I can do it, so can you!

  • This song is very challenging but so much fun. I got half of the song down, definitely will finish the rest soon! :)

  • hi guys, im twelve years old. this song isnt as hard as it looks. at least to me cause i have it memorized.all you have to do is find a really good teacher

  • Comment removed

  • oh damn.. I have to learn this until Sunday..

  • I tried to follow along with the sheet music and exploded.....

  • wish this had better sound quality!

  • Lol, still haven't made it! :-D

  • I TOTALLY underestimated the difficulty of this song.....it'll take me 3 years to learn it. it'll be way fun though! :P

  • he is amazing

  • 1:51 Yeah! MY FAVORITE CHORD!

  • Is this really Jon Schmidt playing? It doesn't look like his hands nor does it sound like him when he talked >.> I could be wrong, but just saying!

  • @pyius if you watch the close ups of him playing in the love story/viva la vida song its his hands.. and foot tapping :)

  • you guys remember those big separations when playing the piano?

    answer: use your whole arm.

  • This is what music is all about.

  • 6 unlikes = 6 frustrated pianists.

  • @ChrisRedeemedPianist Dislikes... Dislikes. Not unlikes :)

  • @Iceman154435 Ups... :)

English is my second language so i get a lot of "blond" moments like this.

  • @ChrisRedeemedPianist Wow... Well i didn't guess it was your second language :) good job man!!!

  • @ChrisRedeemedPianist I frustrated because I can't play like em. but I like it

  • @DeGunOnly we can still be as good as them on our own music

  • @ChrisRedeemedPianist hahaha yeah

  • I cannot say how many time I have hit the reply button.

  • My computer was so overwhelmed by the sheer amazingness of this song and man that it froze.

    Eight times. xD!

  • @VelvetLeggingsXD same here!!!!!

  • I can play this song, but nowhere near as clean as he can play it. I have no idea how he does it...

  • Lol, still haven't made it! xD

  • 3 people are mentally retarded.

  • My 14 year old cousin just played this song at his recital!! He's amazing but no Jon Schmidt!

  • what grade is this song

  • @Vesivian I'd like to believe that this piece is around grade 7 or 8, depending on what country you're from.

  • wow. thats all i can say. :)

  • very impressive

  • Amazing.

    I love. :)

  • Oh my gosh my teacher can play this song just like him!

  • his music sounds like 500 of the greatest piano players ever put together times 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

  • Ah, this song is taking me forever to figure out! Haha, Can't wait till I get to the part with the arms. Can't you just hear the piano going "All these notes, this melody is too quick, so fast and so much, I can hardly keep up! What's this?! AN ARM!" Hahaha! Love this song. None of Me, the parody, is awesome too! Go John Schmidt!

  • PLZ SOMEONE DO A PIANO TUTORIAL!!!!!!<3 everyone will love you forever=))

  • @horhayllamaquaker the sheet music is free on his website, you dont need a tutorial.

  • @jevanspiano have you seen the sheet music? its fetching impossible

  • @horhayllamaquaker what makes you think having a tutorial is gonna make it easier? It's still the same song.

  • @horhayllamaquaker @jevanspiano And wide out for optimal page changing fun 8D

    Haha. I love playing it.

  • I'm learning this song!!!!!!!!! Makes me so happy!

  • WOW!!! This was played at a friends wedding! Just spectacular.

  • What happened to the first page of the song?

  • Wow, this is just amazing

  • wow... he makes it look so easy

  • Hey guys, I'm big fan of Jon schmidt.

I opened my channel few days ago! and

Please check them ouT! there's many good songs that you would like!

  • i am absolutely DETERMINED to learn how to play this song! :) it's so incredibly amazing and so incredibly difficult...

  • Schmidt and Mozart play completely different kinds of music. Isn't that kind of obvious? It's like comparing Flyer 1 with an f-14. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that one of them flies faster, further and better that the other. But Schmidt and Mozart are two great composers separated by over two hundred years of musical evolvement. Am I the only one that isn't surprised that they play different kinds of music?

  • @BeJay94 I'd have to agree with your comment by the way. Schmidt and Mozart are definitely 2 Great composers that have entire different styles of composing. It's interesting how different they are.

  • Oh my I THINK I"M IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG!!!!! =D He is so confident and man WOW!!!! =)

  • Before anyone here goes dissing kylelandry, go watch his videos. You'll soon find that he knows precisely what he's talking about, and though he is probably way to humble to admit it, he will probably be the next great composer of our time. He's only in college and look what he's accomplished already! And while he might disagree, I can see why so many people love this song. However, the more I listen to it, the more I get tired of it. The more I listen to Mozart, the more I love it. See a diff.?

  • @19singerchick... he definitely could play this lol

  • who cares if the song is repetitive. hes still amazing!! i'd like to see you play this song just as well as he did. he is a wonderful pianist you gotta give him props for that!!

  • holy smokess. his use of harmonies..best of the contemporary pianists i've ever heardd.

  • I'm learning this right now, and I must say that the rhythms in this song are difficult.

  • people were talking about this guy on a Brad Mehldau video and saying how this guy is the best. Hilarious. Sigh.

  • whats on his hands

  • HE IS NOT PLAYING A PIANO!!...He look like he is typing a computer keyboard lol

  • AMAZING PIANIST.

I got the sheet music to this song, but its so difficult, it takes a lot of commitment. I LOVE IT!!

  • Wow!!! Amazing!!!

  • holy crap this is amazing

  • You're just jealous of his great talent.

  • where can i download the song, i dont want the music , just the song

  • Found this song. Thought "Yeah, this is awesome!" Went to his web page. Downloaded the sheet music. Thought "All right, let's do this!". Printed the sheet. Looked at it. Went "(O_O)...

... This will take a while..." xD

  • Best things often do.

  • @BeJay94 Hehehe. Like the elbow smashing parts?

  • @BeJay94 same!..im still taking some time.....hahas..

  • @BeJay94 LOL story of my life

  • @BeJay94 haha same, almost got it! ahahaa

  • @BeJay94 does the sheet cost anything? or is it some programs u need ?

  • @123siggy123

Nope, this particular song, and "I Saw Three Ships" happen to be completely free. Or at least they were when I downloaded them... ;)

You don't need anything special, except for Adobe Acrobat Reader, or any other PDF reading program, since the sheet is in .pdf.

  • @BeJay94 ok, can u send me link to were you downloaded it from? i checked his site, and it seems i must register or something

  • @BeJay94 HAHHAHAHA same thing for me.

  • @BeJay94 it's really not too bad if you just take your time and plow through it! Give it a shot!!!

  • @PianoPookie13 Haha, yeah, I know... And I will. I just... Don't have that very much spare time at the moment... "/

  • @BeJay94 Amen.

I'm trying to learn this song too...... I have some parts down... others....

    not.so.much.

    :)

  • @BeJay94 cmon, be honest, you went... shit...

  • Damn have the sheet music can only play measure 42 D:

  • this song makes me so happy :)

  • Just amazing! this song sounds so heavenly that it doesn't seems possible to be created be a human... altough it is ;D

  • Absolutely best piano song ever! Anyone ever wonder what would happen if Jon Schmidt and Mozart ever met each other? :)

  • then we'd have the most amazing music or otherwise we'd see the most amazing piano battle ever.

  • mozart was very good technically but made bad songs - he wasn't creative, he is no match for jon schmidt in creativity

  • You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You are so wrong it's not even funny. This is FAR less creative then Mozart, there are about 3-4 chords in this song, and it's extremely repetitive. It is attractive to the non-musician's ear because of it's happy, rhythmic flair, that's all.

  • Kylelandry, your response may not be popular but you are absolutely right.

  • Music is to be enjoyed, so as long as people are enjoying it, does it really matter?

  • Repetitive: Vivaldi.

  • to say that this piece isn't any good because it only has 3-4 chords in it is ridiculous. First off, I can almost guarantee that it has more than that, second, most songs only have 3-4 anyways, and 3rd, the musicality and power of the song make up for his "lack of creativity". He's probably never played it twice exactly the same in his life because you can tell, he feels the music. That's what its all about isnt it?

  • He could honestly probably play it just as well. kylelandry's skill is genuine

  • @kylelandry as a musician, I think i get what you're saying. BUT, isn't music about feelings? To the non musicians'-& even some musicians' ears-repetitive familiarity is key. Look at music history. Beethoven's 5th (don't freak out on me, this is merely an example) the original GGG Eflat motive is repeated a ton. the difference is that throughout the work it's creatively varied. correct me if i'm wrong-your problem with this is that it's repetitive & it ends without "branching out?"

  • WOW This is now my favorite song! Does any one know where I can find sheet music?

  • Yup! Just go to his website! free pdf download! :) Happy playing!

  • does anybody know how he improvises the ending?

  • I DO! I Do! So there are the last two measures, right? The two measures before that, he repeats those two measures three times. Get it? :) Happy playing!

  • could a grade 5 stand a hope in hell of pulling this off? *looks hopeful*

  • Comment removed

  • a lot of piano players could improvise this....

  • Yes, but why don't they do that then?

  • for the suspense. (I think)

  • He's SO good at the piano!!!! especially this song! :D

  • ooh snap I'm 13 and learning this too! go the 13 year olds learning "all of me"!

  • 1:41 to 1:50

    Best part! =D

  • LOLZ~~nothing to say

  • holy crap.... i am starting to learn this and i am so excited for it to turn out! i hope i can play it as good as he can... i'm only 13 but i will try! this is crazy. i love this piece.

  • Woo! I am gonna try this one and I am only 13 too! GO US!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for sharing. Do you have his waterfall live performance recording?

  • holy crap.... that was insane! i wish i had crazy mad piano skills like that

  • He's just amazing ! I love his music !!!

  • holy,... cow...

  • Love this man, check us out with our duet of this song. please subscribe as we did thanks!

  • OH,WOW!!!! This is amazing!!! I love his work, it gives me shivers, or goose bumps...either way...

  • What kind of piano does he play - a Fazioli?

  • ... It made me happy :) *goes to find sheet music* kinda reminds me of David Benoir with more emphasis on block chords than rhythm!!!

  • Amazing. I am trying to teach myself the piano, and I can't decide if this should incourage me, or discourage me. I think I'm leaning toward incouraging me.

  • well this peice is a little difficult, but as long as you have passion you can achieve what someone who's playing for 10 in as little as 3 years! it just depends he gives free sheet music at his website, with determination you can go far i say give it a try if it seems to hard at first lay it down and come back to it later when your ready i taught myself piano too, and i'm learing to play this song right now so if you need help just give me a message!

  • Wow i am not that bad a piano player ....but this guy just made me feel weak -_-

  • Did anyone else just get an overwhelming sense of inadequacy? I can't decide if I love scmidt or hate him for it... Regardless, it's inspiration to keep going until I can whoop his butt on the piano, which is, I'm sure, where a lot of people get it :)

  • I got the music and I'm starting to play this! of course, I'm going really slow right now...but still, it's such a cool piece of music!

  • o snap... i am so intimadarted to play that now... haha

  • so..full of patterns , repeats himself ... i liked it at the beginning ..but when i heard it again i got bored ..

  • The word you're looking for is monotonous, but I love this song.

Hear it live, my brother plays it savagely

  • are you a dumbass? the main theme of the song repeats itself once in the entire song..... the entire middle part is completely unrepetitive. i swear people like you are like baroque period purists, just waiting to jump on anything following the "rules" or not breaking the "key boundaries". just enjoy the music. think of like samuel barbers adagio for strings: it's pretty repetitive, but that doesn't make it not incredible. this piece isn't even that repetitive!

  • Why complain about beautiful music? Simple can be good. And I'd love to see you do that.

  • lol whocares all that maters is that it sounds cool

  • i watched a viva lavida an love story song put together by this guy, shivers down my back

  • Way to go man, now im depressed! XD Seriously though, that is the most amazing piece of music I've ever heard!!

  • I hate this guy so much. I hate his piano playing skills, his composing skills, everything. The jealousy is overwhelming

  • Do you know how much I agree with you? Perhaps my greatest regret of all time, not learning the piano... the viola is not enough!! lol

  • @TeacherforLife you're wrong. he's the best piano player EVER!!!!!

  • @TeamShadowStorm113 Are you crazy? Or you only know that pianist?

  • Amazing

  • the second I heard this song I decided to learn it!

  • This music has a feel like nothing else!

  • The left pedal has different uses- depending on the type. The grand has the "una corda", even though it is not truly one string but two instead of three giving it a richer sound. The upright piano cannot do this. The upright piano's left pedal can either act as a right pedal except only for bass clef, orrrr something else I forgot. :) Sorry to act like such a Wikipedia nerd :)

  • im pretty sure uprights have una cordas haha

  • omg! its AMAZING!

well i wouldnt spect less from him!

    :)

  • this sounds soooo goood!

  • I have one question..

What does the left pedal do????

I don't know why we have it on the piano.. I don't hear the difference :((

  • Professional pianists use it all the time. It's very hard for me to explain, and I don't even know all of its functions.. but it can make a big difference... a huge difference.. and I have experienced that :)

  • I believe the left pedal suppresses the sound versus the right pedal holding the note out. so it's a little quieter and has a more soft sound.
