As a liberal who knows the Second Amendment is intended only for the militia to defend against invasions and insurrections, much gratitude goes to William Kostric for providing an example of how nutty and dangerous the far right is when it goes around spouting off ideas about how guns protect our liberties when they're used to threaten and attack public officials. Google "Georgia Militia" to see who agreed that it's time to "water the tree" and set about trying to do it.
So, "public safety" can be used, whimsically, in dictator fashion, to usurp the law at any time and any place *as it pleases the chief*? This is like MINI MARTIAL LAW. You can't help everyone. I'm not selfish I'm a realist. What about the middle class people. Do they need all the new taxes coming out. Most right now live pay check to pay check. Maybe you should be first in line to appologize to them "I'm sorry you lost your home but I have ok health insurance now" So who's being selfish. Healthcare might be in it if our Gov didn't spend like a 16 year old girl with her first Credit card.
You got nothing. You haven't read it don't know what is in it. and Can't say anything about it. I'm about 5 pages in and already need to call my lawyer friend to decifer the legal jumbo. Guess they knew people would want to look at it to use such jargon that your normal tom dick and harry can't read it. Great job supporting a bill blindly they could put a clause in here to sell your soul. You wouldn't know but you would sign it.
I think law enforcement officers need to take a class from this detective. He was professional, provided clear instruction without cursing or abusing Mr. Kostric. I'm live in Alabama and we are having great issues with police brutality and foul language used by officer. I think this was awesome on the part of the officer and Mr. Kostric for not being a butt. I don't think he insteads to create a violent situation even if the firearm suggest such.
Honestly...I know I should not be here arguing about this stupid ass shite, while people of the world are suffering from starvation and sickness...and neither should you people...what is the real issue at hand in this world...what really matters...does this matter?
I wouldn't consider myself worked up about it. Sure lettuce is the same argument and I would defend that just the same. If you think constitutional rights are "stupid ass shite" then you are very misguided. Just because there are other issues in the world doesn't mean this should be ignored.
yes it should be ignored...because everyone in America KNOWS that NO ONE is going to take their guns away...Obama will not take your guns away...no one is...that has been a right of ours..it is not going away...I'm glad people fight for it...but it is funny how no one really argues about the supposed distinct relation between the right to bear arms and our nations problems with health care....again it's the same as the lettuce argument...
thank you aaronmford...nozoned, aaronmford proves my point...it is the simple fact that people acknowledge the gun as a symbol of violence, especially a handgun. that is what makes his choice to bring a gun, in poor taste...funny how you don't ever address what i am talking about...how does a bringing a gun directly relate to healthcare? how does that help us figure out how to help the uninsured?
He proved your point just by mentioning it? Hardly proof of anything other than he has an opinion. Call it poor taste, it may well have been but that doesn't mean he wasn't fully within his right to do it. If I wear a islamic turban does that mean I condone terrorism? No, but because of the media that's what a lot of people would say. How does bringing anything besides medical or insurance documents directly relate to healthcare? It doesn't so your point is moot.
look, by someone backing up my point, it shows that im not the only one who might take notice of someone carrying a gun at a town hall meeting with the president...obviously lots of people noticed that and were upset...thats all my point was...is that it should have been obvious that lots of people would get upset, and that william kostric was aware that this would happen...you know this, i know this, everyone knows this happen when in the presence of any firearms
i have never ever argued that it was not his right to do it or if the legality, only that it is wrong to bring a gun around the president or lots of people, and that it creates conflict, and that william kostric was fully aware that people would react negatively...and excuse me...what media says there is a connection between turbans and terrorism..give me a break...and finally...then why not just bring yourself to the town hall meeting...instead of weaponry, lol....its just crazy...
I believe he was protesting against democraticly forced extortion to "pay" for the uninsured. I'm with him personally. Theft isn't kool regardless of any "noble (corrupt)" intent.
Well they are not remotely related at all. One freed out country from tyranny, and was enumerated in the bill of rights should it need to happen again in the future. Your healthcare deal is based primarily upon misinformation and blown out of proportion...not to mention completely irrelevant.
Great video, Well acting policeman. The point I would like to make is that Lawyers are running Law Enforcement Agencies, cities, counties, states, and this country. What the hell are we electing anybody for anyway if the Lawyers that we do not elect tell them what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
William Kostric, you are one BRAVE PATRIOT! THE most ballsy move I've seen in last 40yrs. That NH cop, while an obvious "hail-the-State" follow-orders man, is one of the most considerate cops I've seen on video, since 9/11; post which has turned my beloved Republic into a de facto policestate w/Taser & trigger happy thugs deluding they're "peace officers." certainly if they booted Stasi-thug wannabes & hired more reasonable ones like the one above, the public's respect for cops would improve.
This is how police and citizens should act on both sides. I think so many police brutality incidents could be avoided if everyone would act as these two did.
@woogie88888 - I fully agree. We should not treat the police as enemies and vice-versa. This has always been a government scheme to separate us from our public servants into castes for caste warfare. If we reject this notiion and instead remain civil and work together within the law we can return to a society that, above all, recognizes the liberty and freedom of the INDIVIDUAL.
Omg he has an ear piece, omg its an FBI style ear piece, omg we might need to ban ear pieces, omg it's a good thing you picked up on that, you saved obama!!
omg i just noticed he had a hat on, omg i think it might have been an FBI style hat.
Just because the constitution says you have the right to bear arms, and you may have a permit to carry a weapon it is to the discretion of the establishment to allow you to be on the premisis with your fire arm. Its at a school for crying out loud!
What does the fact its a school have to do with it? Unless you pistol is a registered sex offender please for the love of god carry into my kids school. If you are legal to carry I would want someone legal to be able to protect my kids from a criminal.
I've never seen a more cordial police officer. I'm a law abiding citizen, and have never seen such cordial respect. I wonder if that had anything to do with the gun? Think about it.
it has more to do with actively open carrying at dozens of NH events and on a daily basis for the last couple of years.
And just as all of the past 'open carry activism' has shown that we will exercise our right, so will this townhall event. That was the purpose and the goal.
Sorry njreader101, you are incorrect. The federal law referenced specifically states that those who are properly licensed to carry the firearm according to the laws of their states are exempt from the ban. This may not be the case for each state law, maybe not even NH, but according to federal law, you are incorrect.
Holy shit, this guy needs a better holster, or adjust it properly that thing is practically sideways on his leg. Also, who wears a drop leg holster in public? Makes you look like a mall ninja.
Excellent video. I am a huge supporter of firearms rights. The man has the right to carry the gun. The officer was very proffessional & considerate and it was well within the law to ask the man to leave.
They are also being recorded, in a state that respects and understands what a constitutional right is, and surrounded by thousands of other people who also know what their rights are. His point is proven, when citizens know and exercise their rights, the government has to smile and work with them, as opposed to LA and NY style cop beatings.
Just because the man was practicing his legal right to carry a legal, nonconcealed firearm outside of a healthcare performance by the president, doesn't mean that he wasn't there to protest the government takeover of healthcare that dems are pushing. It's the wingnut liberals who decided to make his firearm an issue
This is NH. Our crime rate is low. You can have the president perform his healtchcare show in next-door MA where the crime rate is high and they carry CONCEALED, ILLEGAL weapons instead if you makes you feel better.
the point of his presence at the town hall should be to protest health care reform he did not agree with...correct? so why come to a town hall to protest your right to bear arms?
he came to the town hall meeting with a gun and a sign about watering the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots to show that his rights are being diminished by the government and he wanted to show people that we still have some rights..such as the right to bear arms...watch the video
This is such a tiring argument...do we need this? do we need people toting guns around the president, large groups of upset people and around schools for that matter? do we need the extra stress at this point in all our lives...just come to talk...come to learn...come to find a reasonable solution...
No we don't need the argument. There really is no argument to it. It is only how some people perceive it. Why bring up a school that wasn't in session? It is people like you that make a big deal about something any law abiding citizen can do. Why wait til someone exercises a right to make a fus over it? Did you not know this was legal before?
You do not need the argument, yet you argue with me...lol You are correct about how people perceive this though...and just think about those words...How are people perceiving this? It must be kind of a big deal, because you and I and lots of other people are worked up about it...
I have never in any of my comments stated anything about how it is wrong that he is 'exercising his right'...It was just poor taste and not part of the discussion at hand to bring a gun...I mean...I could bring a head of lettuce and munch on that and say that is my right and I am eating lettuce to show that I still have this right while the gov't is taking away other rights...it is the SAME argument...please try and deny that
Why don't you people listen to what the detective is saying. He understands and knows he can not unarm the man. However, the school is GOVERNMENT property. He is allowed to carry there, but they ARE allowed to ask him to remove it. I think both sides handled the situation just fine. Calmly, and respectfully. Not everyone who carrys a gun is going to kill everyone. Oh, and if you think the secret service didnt have a sniper on his head the whole time, then you are an idiot.
@hankwvu very good reply :) truth be told, In Washington state its legal to open carry, but no matter what any gun carried onto school property is illegal with out a police licence however in NH it seems to be slightly different I think that is pretty cool. For your information though just a after thought in Ohio at the University it is legal for licence'ed as in CW to carry fire arms to class, as well as Faculty some 40% is estimated to carry. Ohio= the place national guard shot 4 unarmed
He has the right to carry a gun anywhere he goes. That is protection. That is the right that is in the Constitution. That means anywhere. Crimes could happen anywhere you go even outside a town hall meeting.
lol, is that the world you want to live in?, where you think you need to take a gun to a town hall meeting in New hampshire? What about having a natural trust that those kind of devices wouldn't be necessary at a public debate? health care reform is an issue we obviously all care about...it is also apparent that it does not have an easy solution. why can we not have any significant figures in this debate step up and let everyone know we need to settle down...
ack303, "where you think you need to take a gun to a town hall meeting in New hampshire", What's you point? You may not need a gun at a town hall meeting less than any other place. Does that mean if I drive to a town hall meeting I don't need to wear a seatbelt in my car?
William Kostric was well outside the security perimeter set up for Obama. He was on private property. He was obeying the law. He was exercising his Second Amendment RIGHT, which the Founding Fathers of the United States fought and DIED for. Well done William, time for us all to stand up to Government.
Well obviously this was racially motivated. I'm mean REALLY. Why did that cop have to totally loose his mind? The yelling, the screaming, the name calling...very unprofessional. I wish Rev Al and Rev Jackson could see this video. They need to polish off the old bullhorn and umbrellas and get this cop fired ASAP.
huh... i wonder why i haven't seen this clip on the mainstream media? oh that's right that would contradict the medias portrayal of this patriot as a unstable gun toting nutcase
" I have a License that allows me to carry it in this area" I also have a sign that says I want to water the tree of Liberty with the Blood of Tyrants or Patriots" at a presidential event... GET REAL!
My post was written sloppily , what is your Point? A Quote by Thomas Jefferson is referenced on his sign The quote by Jeferson is something like " Sometimes the Tree Of Liberty must be watered with the Blood Of Dictators , Tyrants , and Patriots" ( that probably isn't exact, but it is the jist of it) The uy with a Gun at a Presidential Event, had a sign that said " IT IS TIME to Water the tree of Liberty" . on't play stupid, that is unacceptable.
Wha? Thomas Jefferson said it , it can't be bad, and Trees are Good, so is Liberty, but IN CONTEXT, the guy with gun at a presidential event had a sign that clearly suggested it was (paraphrasing) "time to spill the blood of Tyrants in the name of Liberty" , presumably meaning President Obama's Blood, who he opposes. You disagree? then tell me which "Tyrant" was he refering to?
semantics and sophistry. The sign refered to Thomas Jefferson's remark- "Sometimes the tree of Liberty needs to be watered with the Blood of Tyrants and Patriots" . The guy has stated publically that he knew which Jefferson quote he was refering to - so let's breakdown the sign - "It's Time to Water the tree of Liberty" how did Jefferson say the tree of liberty would be watered? "with the Blood of Tyrants and patriots". so which Tyrants or Patriots was he refering to?
OMG, are you serious? The cops were on his side totally. they even provided a place for him at a near church. Did you even watch the video? The guy has every right to carry his gun. Of course there are restrictions where you can carry. They let him carry the gun still, so obviously he was not breaking the law.
"OMG, are you serious? The cops were on his side totally. Did you even watch the video? The guy has every right to carry his gun. Of course there are restrictions where you can carry. They let him carry the gun still, so obviously he was not breaking the law"
Yes, I have watched the vid & coverage, fact is- the cops removed him from his original site where he was illegally standing & therefore breaking the law. They would not have insisted he move if he were abiding by the law.
He's a provocateur......... Actually he was there with the Free State Project. A few of them had the communication devices in case they spotted anything, such as union thugs causing trouble, suspicious arrest, or when they started towing cars from the local bowling alley, where demonstrators where told that they could park. They usually like to put on record (video) anything like that which occurs.

What if I just liked to strap C4 to my chest when I visit public events...just in case I needed to blow myself up for Jesus's sake. It's not that I have a plan to blow myself up, but I just like being prepared to react violently when society gets in the wrong. I have a higher moral standing than society anyway.
If you want Kostric to have the right to carry a gun, you have to give others the right to question his motives.

I agree with William's right to open carry, but whoever posted this video needs to know that something called "society" doesn't "want" anything. Society can't hate Ben Franklin so much that it would "want" to go against his cute slogan. Obviously this person sees him/herself outside or above society. Society IS afraid of outsiders--that's its job. Society doesn't "want" to live in a society where society has to be armed all the time. Society is not a person.
a high end earpiece huh...wow...that is impressive...i guess guns are ok then in my book...if people with 'high end' ear pieces are using them...hoooooo doggggggie

Maybe you should be first in line to appologize to them "I'm sorry you lost your home but I have ok health insurance now" So who's being selfish. Healthcare might be in it if our Gov didn't spend like a 16 year old girl with her first Credit card.

I agree.

Honestly...I know I should not be here arguing about this stupid ass shite, while people of the world are suffering from starvation and sickness...and neither should you people...what is the real issue at hand in this world...what really matters...does this matter?
ack303 2 years ago
I wouldn't consider myself worked up about it. Sure lettuce is the same argument and I would defend that just the same. If you think constitutional rights are "stupid ass shite" then you are very misguided. Just because there are other issues in the world doesn't mean this should be ignored.
nozoned 2 years ago
yes it should be ignored...because everyone in America KNOWS that NO ONE is going to take their guns away...Obama will not take your guns away...no one is...that has been a right of ours..it is not going away...I'm glad people fight for it...but it is funny how no one really argues about the supposed distinct relation between the right to bear arms and our nations problems with health care....again it's the same as the lettuce argument...
ack303 2 years ago
Apparently you don't know anything about trends and the fact that guns are completely of limit in trend setting states. You really need to wake up.
nozoned 2 years ago
thank you aaronmford...nozoned, aaronmford proves my point...it is the simple fact that people acknowledge the gun as a symbol of violence, especially a handgun. that is what makes his choice to bring a gun, in poor taste...funny how you don't ever address what i am talking about...how does a bringing a gun directly relate to healthcare? how does that help us figure out how to help the uninsured?
ack303 2 years ago
He proved your point just by mentioning it? Hardly proof of anything other than he has an opinion. Call it poor taste, it may well have been but that doesn't mean he wasn't fully within his right to do it. If I wear a islamic turban does that mean I condone terrorism? No, but because of the media that's what a lot of people would say. How does bringing anything besides medical or insurance documents directly relate to healthcare? It doesn't so your point is moot.
nozoned 2 years ago
look, by someone backing up my point, it shows that im not the only one who might take notice of someone carrying a gun at a town hall meeting with the president...obviously lots of people noticed that and were upset...thats all my point was...is that it should have been obvious that lots of people would get upset, and that william kostric was aware that this would happen...you know this, i know this, everyone knows this happen when in the presence of any firearms
ack303 2 years ago
i have never ever argued that it was not his right to do it or if the legality, only that it is wrong to bring a gun around the president or lots of people, and that it creates conflict, and that william kostric was fully aware that people would react negatively...and excuse me...what media says there is a connection between turbans and terrorism..give me a break...and finally...then why not just bring yourself to the town hall meeting...instead of weaponry, lol....its just crazy...

I think so many police brutality incidents could be avoided if everyone would act as these two did.
woogie88888 2 years ago 17
@woogie88888 - I fully agree. We should not treat the police as enemies and vice-versa. This has always been a government scheme to separate us from our public servants into castes for caste warfare. If we reject this notiion and instead remain civil and work together within the law we can return to a society that, above all, recognizes the liberty and freedom of the INDIVIDUAL.

BrendanSFA 2 years ago 3
it has more to do with actively open carrying at dozens of NH events and on a daily basis for the last couple of years.
And just as all of the past 'open carry activism' has shown that we will exercise our right, so will this townhall event. That was the purpose and the goal.
StandAndUnite 2 years ago
Even legally registered guns carried by those with carry permits are not allowed on school grounds and government buildings.
njreader101 2 years ago
Sorry njreader101, you are incorrect. The federal law referenced specifically states that those who are properly licensed to carry the firearm according to the laws of their states are exempt from the ban. This may not be the case for each state law, maybe not even NH, but according to federal law, you are incorrect.

What alot of silly comments. Him carrying a gun has nothing to do with where he was going.
He had shoes on too, I dont imagine he was wanting to talk about them at a health reform shin dig.
Some people actually carry a gun most places they go.
I'm one. Its legal, the President brought his guns & they got to stay on school property.
What would be really cool is for local cops to arrest secret service for carring onto school property.

They are also being recorded, in a state that respects and understands what a constitutional right is, and surrounded by thousands of other people who also know what their rights are. Just because the man was practicing his legal right to carry a legal, nonconcealed firearm outside of a healthcare performance by the president, doesn't mean that he wasn't there to protest the government takeover of healthcare that dems are pushing. It's the wingnut liberals who decided to make his firearm an issue
Rhiannon003 2 years ago 2
This is NH. Our crime rate is low. You can have the president perform his healtchcare show in next-door MA where the crime rate is high and they carry CONCEALED, ILLEGAL weapons instead if you makes you feel better.
Rhiannon003 2 years ago
the point of his presence at the town hall should be to protest health care reform he did not agree with...correct? so why come to a town hall to protest your right to bear arms?
ack303 2 years ago
Where did he say he was protesting the right to bear arms?
nozoned 2 years ago
he came to the town hall meeting with a gun and a sign about watering the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots to show that his rights are being diminished by the government and he wanted to show people that we still have some rights..such as the right to bear arms...watch the video
ack303 2 years ago
This is such a tiring argument...do we need this? do we need people toting guns around the president, large groups of upset people and around schools for that matter? do we need the extra stress at this point in all our lives...just come to talk...come to learn...come to find a reasonable solution...
ack303 2 years ago
No we don't need the argument. There really is no argument to it. It is only how some people perceive it. Why bring up a school that wasn't in session? It is people like you that make a big deal about something any law abiding citizen can do. Why wait til someone exercises a right to make a fus over it? Did you not know this was legal before?
nozoned 2 years ago
You do not need the argument, yet you argue with me...lol You are correct about how people perceive this though...and just think about those words...How are people perceiving this? It must be kind of a big deal, because you and I and lots of other people are worked up about it...
ack303 2 years ago
I have never in any of my comments stated anything about how it is wrong that he is 'exercising his right'...It was just poor taste and not part of the discussion at hand to bring a gun...I mean...I could bring a head of lettuce and munch on that and say that is my right and I am eating lettuce to show that I still have this right while the gov't is taking away other rights...it is the SAME argument...please try and deny that
ack303 2 years ago
Why don't you people listen to what the detective is saying. He understands and knows he can not unarm the man. However, the school is GOVERNMENT property. He is allowed to carry there, but they ARE allowed to ask him to remove it. I think both sides handled the situation just fine. Calmly, and respectfully. Not everyone who carrys a gun is going to kill everyone. Oh, and if you think the secret service didnt have a sniper on his head the whole time, then you are an idiot.
hankwvu 2 years ago
yes, you can see a sniper in the prone position way far back on the school rooftop.
StandAndUnite 2 years ago

Crimes could happen anywhere you go even outside a town hall meeting.
dwjwsw 2 years ago
lol, is that the world you want to live in?, where you think you need to take a gun to a town hall meeting in New hampshire? What about having a natural trust that those kind of devices wouldn't be necessary at a public debate? health care reform is an issue we obviously all care about...it is also apparent that it does not have an easy solution. why can we not have any significant figures in this debate step up and let everyone know we need to settle down...
ack303 2 years ago
ack303, "where you think you need to take a gun to a town hall meeting in New hampshire", What's you point? You may not need a gun at a town hall meeting less than any other place. Does that mean if I drive to a town hall meeting I don't need to wear a seatbelt in my car?

his sign said "I want to water the tree of Liberty with the Blood of Tyrants or Patriots"???
you put it in quotes, so it must mean that those exact words were on the sign, right?
jlittleope1 2 years ago
My post was written sloppily , what is your Point? A Quote by Thomas Jefferson is referenced on his sign The quote by Jeferson is something like " Sometimes the Tree Of Liberty must be watered with the Blood Of Dictators , Tyrants , and Patriots" ( that probably isn't exact, but it is the jist of it) The uy with a Gun at a Presidential Event, had a sign that said " IT IS TIME to Water the tree of Liberty" . on't play stupid, that is unacceptable.
DJH1170 2 years ago
unacceptable?
dwjwsw 2 years ago
It is a quote from our past people. Dont get all literal with it. His sign doesnt say I want to kill the pres. Sheesh.
Zoklor 2 years ago
DJH1170 2 years ago
It said "Time to water the tree of Liberty" Nothing about blood.
WeztheAussie 2 years ago
semantics and sophistry.
DJH1170 2 years ago
"his sign doesn't say, I want to kill the pres"
Of course it doesn't, b/c that would be an overt threat & he would have been arrested. These ppl prefer to be subversive & only make veiled threats.
Which is why he chose to leave school grounds- because he was in violation of the law with a gun.
Goldhelmriel 2 years ago
OMG, are you serious? The cops were on his side totally. they even provided a place for him at a near church. Did you even watch the video? The guy has every right to carry his gun. Of course there are restrictions where you can carry. They let him carry the gun still, so obviously he was not breaking the law.
Zoklor 2 years ago 2
"OMG, are you serious? The cops were on his side totally. Did you even watch the video? The guy has every right to carry his gun. Of course there are restrictions where you can carry. They let him carry the gun still, so obviously he was not breaking the law"
Yes, I have watched the vid & coverage, fact is- the cops removed him from his original site where he was illegally standing & therefore breaking the law. They would not have insisted he move if he were abiding by the law.

why does william kostric have this communication device in his ear?
wdcsucks1 2 years ago 2
