  • Maybe it misfires because of all the dry firing I saw in the other video? You cannot safely dry fire a .22. You probably need a new firing pin.

  • oh americans, thank god for you, otherwise we'd all be boring and clever.

  • At the time of the video, how many rounds did the gun have through it since it was last cleaned?

  • @Mattypphillip

I had just cleaned it. I maybe had shot between 5-10 rounds. I ended up returning this gun to Smith and Wesson and they were kind enough to send me a brand-new firearm, one that was not chambered in .22 LR.

  • i love how people who obviously do not know shit about firearms pull a stupid comment out of their ass and try to come off as some gun "SAGE" IE MINUTERO

  • i love how people who obviously do not know shit about firearms pull a stupid comment out of their ass and try to come off as some gun "SAGE" IE MINUTERO get a clue before u speak homie

  • you idiot prepare before

  • That's what you get for shooting a double action revolver in single action.

  • @EL3minutero a double action revolver can be shot as a single action too, it doesnt matter. shoting in single action is more accurate because you dont have the gun moving as much as you pul the trigger

  • how much do they cost

  • Thank you for the video. I was looking for a double action 22 revolver and this was on my list. Looks like I will skip this one. Just bought a single action 9 shot Heritage 22 LR / MAG and it works great. Not bad for a lower priced gun.

  • I've shot my brand new S&W 617 today for the first time. Only fired 20 rounds (CCI minimag), because my cilinder locked up 3 times. My gun has the same problem as yours, it deforms the back of the cases so the cilinder can't revolve anymore.

  • I own one of these, it's an older model that is blued, 10 shot with an aluminum cylinder. It is one fine revolver. I would not buy a new S&W because I think the new frame design looks cheap and I hear they don't work all that well.

  • i loved my S&W .32 at first but lately its been doing something similar, it doesnt lock it just skips rounds.

  • Sounds like a new cylinder is required.

  • Any update on this?

  • Clean under the ejector crown .I had a jam from flakes ogf powder under the ejector crown on my centrefire revolver .SW 586

  • Ever checked your ejector rod tightness? When they loosen up, S&Ws jam like that. Its reverse-threaded so turn it to the left

  • Yup, im putting off on buying this gun now. You would not believe how many other people are having the same or similar issues with S&W crap comming out of the factory. Why doesnt S & W test fire these weapons with 50+ rounds before sending them out to retailers???? Im switching to the new 8 shot Ruger. For now ill also stick to the 10-22 Ruger rifle. Screw S&W!!!!!!

  • Were you able to get it fixed?

  • I had the same problem with my taurus 94 22. I pulled the triger so hard it broke the transfer bar.

  • So any word yet from Smith?

  • Your leaf spring is probably catching on the inside of the handle, just a hunch though. I've got very little experience with these. You may be able to file it down a bit in the right spot.

  • Same gun here in 6inch. I've shot it twice and I'll be sending mine back this week as well. Mines spitting brass and shaving steel of of the chamber wall lining. Smith and Wesson is really going downhill fast! Thanks for the video and good luck with your gun!

  • damn i watched your other video talking about the problems you've had, really wanted to get this gun for my first handgun but now im reconsidering.

  • @TheDirtbike333

I loved the fit, feel and the finish of this revolver. When the gun would function well enough for me to shoot a couple cylinders without too many hiccups it was very accurate. There are lots of videos on YouTube which show the 617 functioning flawlessly. My gun was just a lemon. It does seem that many people are having a lot of issues with them though. I will post a video in the next couple weeks on how Smith and Wesson ends up dealing with me.

  • After watching video again maybe it's the angle of the camera but the report of the round going off doesn't even sound right. Well good luck and please let me know how you make out.

  • So were you able to speak to someone at Smith & Wesson?

  • @dgallag339

I still have not gotten to speak to someone, however I did email them and they got back to me with a free shipping label. I'm sending the gun off tomorrow.

  • @TheGearTester what cause the case to swell up like that
