I love how Carrier IQ states it does not track people but in their own literature it stated how it derived the location of a handset using the phone's GPS and reported it to carriers to show where a user is when having issues with their service. To me that is tracking a phone's user, as it was to Congressman Al Franken who initiated an investigation into the company's business practices and software. So I guess him and I for considering it tracking must be idiots then.
Great irony--the Google ad in front of Ur video is for the HTC phone. Just fired off a hot, sarcastic letter to CarrierIQ. Thanks so much for the info -- have subscribed to your channel and will follow developments of 'ol George Orwell.
THEY DONT RECORD KEYSTROKES?!?!?! DID U EVEN WATCH THE VIDEOS? IT SHOWS THE PROGRAM COMMAND LINES VERY CLEARLY. OF COURSE THEIR GONNA SAY THEY DONT RECORD KEYSTROKES AND ITS JUST FOR SERVICE IMPROVEMENT WHEN THEY GOT CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN.
TrevE should sue CIQ for causing emotional distress with this frivolous lawsuit. I'd award him 10 billion dollars just to deter other corporations from doing this in the future...
CIQ say they do not do certain things. The issue is they can if they wanted. CIQ had to put those functions in specifically. The question I have is, why?
The software is rooted, it is hidden, it is not disclosed, adn then when it is outed CIQ issues a cease and desist order. CIQ saying they do not do those things is meaningless due to no credibility.
I do not use a cell phone, as I knew there was be abuse like this happening at some point.
@nlophasnotpaid I too do not use a cell phone, but my laptop is powered by Windows, communicating over WiFi, using Google for YouTube and email. So what makes us think we are immune from this spying, just because it's only been discovered on phones? Google makes Android, Chrome (which I refuse to use) and are basically Masters of the Web Universe. Anyone have any insight into this capability on PC's, tablets, etc.?
I have an iPhone 4 on sprint. I wonder if what I do online can be seen? And I did have an LG Optimus S on sprint before and I wonder the same. I hope carrier iq goes to hell.
It's really sad that frivolous cease and desist orders can be thrown around like this with no repercussions. For every person that stands up for themselves, how many hundreds of others cave in to unlawful threats? It should all come back on whatever lawyer issued the letter, it'd make them think twice if they faced civil suits or jail time for abuse like this.
screw CIQ i fucking hate them which is why i turned it off on my iphone

Cease and Desist letters are standard protocol.. not threats. They are shots across the bow issued by legal counsel. Lawsuits come much later.
