I love the character of Robert the Bruce...such a tragic character at first - torn between loyalty to his father and to his people, torn between love for his country and for power, torn between selfishness and selflessness, too cautious to make the right step yet too careless when he does. But in the end, his heart prevails and he finally chooses the right side.
Angus MacFadyen really portrayed him brilliantly and it's one of the reasons I love this movie and could watch it a million times.
When I first saw this movie I missed a lot of the subtle undertones. I wasn't yet fully awake enough to appreciate Gibsons comments. Now they mean something.
