the problem I have always had with my dvx is low light. when in full sun the contrast and colors are great. I'm getting a canon 550d because it's cheaper than new Panasonic and actually can take better looking video, with greater depth of field, and has a choice of different lenses.
I liked it a lot. i shoot with a DVX100a and have a hard time parting with it. I tell those who seem stuck on the latest technology, 'hell, it looks so much like film, why put out big bucks every couple of years for the latest when the DVX emulates film big time.' Oh well - I'll probably cave soon :) Seriously though - great job.
For HD uploads make the file 1920x1080 for squeeze mode I recommend 1280x720. QT h.264, quality best, ACC 320bit rate audio, very important to de-interlace source video. Or else you'll have jagged sharpening. It'll ruin your video. I use the LA7200 anamorphic which makes the camera native 16x9. Great video, great camera!!!
@goshhyss nah the camera has a leica lens fixed to it haha :) yeah i really didnt expect it to have such nice dof. I shoot all my stuff on a dslr now but sometimes i look at this footage again and it looks really good, uncomparable!
@maxpower789z this was the A, its such a nice camera, definately worth it! I use a DSLR which shoots 1080p video these days, but you still can't compare it to the great look of this lens and even that somewhat analogue feel of tape :) definitely get it!
awesome, if you wouldn't mind...could you let me know? I always try different settings for rendering but my footage always comes out blurry and never so widescreen-like. but maybe the fact that my footage is not completely filling the video has has something to do with my camera settings?...IDK lol.
@marshallbanana however h.264 doesnt work with everything can i add? some dvd makers even the big ones dont recognise it, niether do some other websites and often PC's in work flow terms :/ for those you may have to re-encode. luckily updates overtime have started to automatically do so :)

Simply Beautiful. The resemblance to film is remarkable. It's like film mutated into video.

Is this the 100B? I'm thinking about dropping some dough on a 100A and am wondering if its worth it

video box*
filmlover0101 2 years ago
right, so in final cut pro, you wanna do
file > export > using quicktime conversion
then click 'options'
then click 'settings'
set the video to to H.264 if it isnt already
put the slider all the way to the right for the best quality
then click on 'size' and click on 768 x 576 SD
and just incase your interested, click on sound, choose AAC, choose quality at the higheste and the target bitrate at 320.
After clicking okay, untick the box for fast internet streaming. And let me know how it goes :D
