If only the XFL wasn't so clocely related to the WWF it would still be around to day. Vince was stupid to try and mesh football so closely to wrestling so closely together.

I live in Birmingham,AL which had an XFL team, and Vince McMahon said at the press conference announcing that Birmingham would have a team "the cheerleaders will be encouraged to date the fans." Well, I never heard of a single one of them dating a fan. Like Vince could control who the cheerleaders dated. I was wondering how he planned on making that happen.

XFL had hot cheerleaders, an NBC contract, a UPN contract, a lot of publicity, and no talent on the turf. The games themselves were almost unwatchable. It was like D-2 football. At least the WFL and USFL had some major college talent - the XFL didn't pay enought to attract people like Jim Kelley, Doug Flutie, or Herchell Walker. They got a few old NFL guys, probably some CFL castoffs, and then rushed together a bunch of teams and put that crap on national tv. Fans weren' fooled.

I watched an XFL game one time on UPN, and the announcer, not knowing his mike was on asked for the "fucking Memphis score".

The announce teams were grade Z, many of the players were not ready for prime time, and the cheerleaders were just glorified strippers.

By the time they did that cheerleader publicity stunt and McMahon started resorting to theatrics, I knew there was not going to be another season.

The NFL is a fucking joke too, though. It's a horribly run league, the commissioner is a joke who only cares about sales. There's all kinds of stupid rules that need to be changed but aren't, the divisional and playoff structures are shit, the rookie draft process is utterly broken, there are games on Thursday that you can't watch anywhere, and on and on and on. The only reason we watch the NFL is because we love football but it's a horribly run league.
