Yeah, this thing crapped out after using it once a week for a month. I called around Best Buy and Insignia, they kept pointing fingers at each other.
So there it sat.
Today, 6 months later, i got curious. Cracked it open, pulled the drive, and installed it to my PC. Drive works, but cant play blu-ray due to lack of software. Soooo....this POS just met the tough end of my MAG light about 10 minutes ago. Now it's no longer staring at me silently from my entertainment center. I win.
There is blu-ray playback software for the PC such as Total Media Theater and PowerDVD. You shouldve at least tried the trials of those programs to see if it wouldve worked. Oh well at least now its a "hot" coaster lol.
Cool review man, but i got a question does it still work? I read some reviews where they say it crapped out weeks after buying it, has urs done so? I'd appreciate ur response, i am planning on getting this player tomorrow but want to make sure it works well first, thanks!
i just got this blu ray player for 50 dollars today, it was clearanced at bestbuy for some reason, they even threw in a 2 year replacement warranty for me for free... i got a small room so i got a 26" insignia lcd tv and now bd insignia player... definitely awesome...
I have 32"inch Insignia LCD HDTV and This Insignia BD Player , i must say i'm very pleased with Insignia Products they are very affordable and they make good products value .
How much for the HDMI cable? Don't mean to come off as spamming but check MONOPRICE (dot) com for buyer's remorse, perhaps. :-| It's just well known around the AV forums -- so you know next time. I've not made the HD leap as of yet but your setup is coming along nicely. Enjoy! :))
yeah its really good, but not as good as Blu Ray obviously... I think that it was definetley worth the money! Of you want to buy it I would strongly recommend buying it now, cause Bestbuy has it on sale for only 100 bucks!
Blu Ray is Blu Ray if you would buy Sony, Samsung, or LG versus this Player you wouldn't be getting much of a better Blu Ray Player. Your really paying for the name. If you were going to go with a high dollar player I would suggest Sony because they are the original creators of Blu Ray High Def. Insignia is also a great brand that is exclusive to Bestbuy. What kind of TV, and how big would you hook up your Player too can I ask?
i have a samsung 32 inch. its only for my room. its like yours but urs was a little bit more then mine, prob the better one i guess. i bought the transformers movie and it looks just like the hd version i have :-/
If you had like a Samsung LED than def. go with a Higher end Blu Ray Player, I'm thinking about returning this one and getting a new Sony PS3 Slim when they come out of Sept. 1st. You should be good with this one though
Supermans good, but Id burn and bary those other Dvds tho.

Why would I need to install a Blu-Ray player on my mac if I already have a PS3 for blu-ray?
Oh wait, I wouldn't.

the higher end players get automatic firmware updates that's why there more expensive but as in pictue quality there all the same
lolmoper 2 years ago
actually LG manufactures the parts for this player. So its bascially an LG blu-ray player with Insignia with its name on it.
