  • An amazing ensemble you are :)

  • where's the "automatic reply" button??? :)

  • The tambourine-like instrument is an Egyptian Riq.

  • That the music is incredible isn't even up for the debate! But what makes this one of my favorite videos on youtube (together with Istampitta Tre Fontane) is the joy everyone shows when they're playing! Wonderful, beautiful video!!

  • Gotta love a real tambourine player.

  • This is one way of playing the piece. Once you cotton on to the fact that every next variation adds a measure to the previous, you can start improvising this stuff with relative easy. The other melody instruments then come in when they hear the theme come around.

For extra challenge: have two improvisers, who build on each other's solos!

  • wow u guys have a lot of instruments that i don't even know about

  • Is there a date on the tuscan manuscript?

  • @FedericoAndreas Because this particular manuscript contains a lot of different pieces from different times, it is hard to date. But probably this piece is from the late 14th century.

  • bellísimo, un gran saludo a todxs uds y muchas gracias por esta interpretación.

    :)

  • @Walvis2007 WOW! How enlightening to know that a tambourine is capable of so much! It sounds like three different percussion instruments playing simultaneously! Way to go Peter Maund!!!!!

  • @damedesmontagnes It's called a Riqq and it's a serious classical instrument in Arabic music. Peter here plays it in open or cabaret style; there are a couple of other styles of playing it for added variety. And yeah, he's very good.

  • I wish we could see the other percussionists, but overall, a very beautiful and inspiring video! Thank you for uploading!

  • @damedesmontagnes There is only one percussionist in the video--the fabulous Peter Maund.

  • Sempre he considerat tots els saltarellos com peces d'interpretació difícil. Estic impressionat amb aquesta versió.

  • Thoroughly, indeed.

  • Thorouly enjoyable

  • so so beautiful! i want to learn to play recorder

  • please! what is the second recorder? the higher pitched,, is it a recorder, ? is tuned in some special way? in what pitch? somebody know? thanks

  • @ollebrevid It's a soprano recorder, sounding an octave above the first one.

  • Yes! The Saltarello Istampitta...now there's one, justly famous ditty. So catchy. I often find myself humming this one while walking down the street without even being fully aware that I'm doing it. It's STUCK in my brain. Love the alto and soprano recorder. Kudos all around.

    Superb ensemble.

(PS: I like to play the violin as if it were a viol ;-)

  • That was awesome!

  • Splendid tempo ;-)

  • added to favourites :) thx for this

  • beautifully done

  • very, very nice!

  • thank you !
