I agree that Jamie turned it into a bit of a circus, celebrating people's view of MJ's personality rather than MJ himself and it could have been a bit more heartfelt, although this was an awards show and it was changed at the last minute to pay tribute to Michael.
But the reason I think Jamie was sayin "he's a black man" and "he belongs to us" was because many people thought that he chose to be white and turned his back on his race. Jamie was jus puttin it right, in my opinion.
