A tough video for me to watch. At 12 seconds into the video you can see the building I was in that day. I am a native NYer living and working downtown on 9/11.

Today I am dying from a disease affecting all of us living and working down there that day and the weeks after. Residents, NYPD, FDNY.

I love this song, but I really don't like seeing it associated with 9/11. It's a haunting, brief glimpse at an anonymous life, and a world of its own. Why associate it with one of the largest media ridden, popularized, scandalized, and, of course, tragic acts in American history?

Take the song for what it is, a rich and dark statement about human nature, and perhaps what it might feel like to listen in on something devastating you weren't supposed to hear.
