Ocicats were never told they weren't dogs! We have an "Oci" mix and he plays fetch and follows me on walks. Since 1984 I've had many cats and dogs.... this cat is definitely the most dog-like....even more than the cat we have that was raised by 3 dogs!!!
I trained my tuxedo cat to come when I call him like Yosemite Sam. I'm talking about a full-on holler, "HEEEERE KITTY, KITTY, KITTY, KITTY, KITTY!!!" It's hilarious. The trick was to associate that call with his first taste of raw hamburger when he was 9 months old, followed up by repetition with other meats.
@DallasisaLeo yes I agree. None of these are actually her obeying the command. Its just Kimba reaching the treats. If you said nothing she would do the exact same thing just to get the treats. eg if you said lie down but had the treat on your shoulders she would jump for it.

Kimba is so cool! Love the video! Hope you don't mind, we linked to your video from our site - petside.com in the ocicat photo slideshow - Looking forward to more Kimba videos
The context was that it is very difficult to get cats to do anything on command, w/wo treats. My yellow lab would do tricks too - just like Kimba - with the eye on the treat and following the treat. It is a rare dog that will follow completely verbal (or semiverbal as in hunting dogs) commands.Kimba is learning ccommands quickly and I'll repost a video of him doing tricks on command - and getting the treat afterwards.
Food is the motivation behind pretty much all animal tricks. Most my cats would do is fetch a mouse - getting a cat to do anything except look at you like 'no way' really depends on if the cat is not only motivated by food but by praise - like a dog. He's learned 'stay' and 'rollover' but I haven't had time to film him again. Do you have cats?
I'm aware that food is the motivation behind most animal tricks, but what I'm pointing out is that these tricks are an effort to REACH the food. A dog will eventually understand that "sit" gets them food, even though their urge is to go after the food.
Your cat isn't doing a trick to receive an award, it's simply walking, jumping, or lying down to better reach the award. Do you get what I'm saying?
And no, I don't currently own a cat but I've owned several. I love them, but they're not dogs.

No offense, but aside from the kiss every trick just seemed like an effort to reach the food by going to its location.

We saw that movie too - we were going to call him Simba, but liked the white lion. Kimba has a lion-like face - not the classic cat face, too!
