  • DUDE!!!! 0:20 CATERPIE!!!!! :D :D :D

  • Funny how Pokemon seem to sneak into most of my bug vids! XD

  • ¿como se llama el segundo gusano?

  • The second caterpillar shown is the pre-pupa form of the Pale Swallowtail, Papilio eurymedon. They change color from green to brown, and suspent themsleves like that in preparation for metamorphosis. I have a few other videos showing this species if you do a YT search for the species name. :-)

  • I love bugs :D

  • Me too - you should be able to find lots of interesting stuff on my channel! Thanks for stopping by! =)

  • the 4th one is what caterpe is based off of...japanese love doing that type of shit

  • It's funny how insects are used for a lot of different movie-type stuff - especially horror and monster movies.

  • yea. i have 4 monarch chrysalisses right now. My favorite things still are reptiles and insects...things we really dont pay attention to anymore....

I am glad you enjoyed this video - thank you very much for your nice words! :-)

  • I have two toy caterpillars- they're adorable critters!

  • I'm sure those are much more friendly than most of these! Thanks for visiting :-)

  • wtf?

  • Is it safe to touch anykind ofCaterpillars with bare hand?

  • No, it's not! Most butterfly caterpillars are fairly safe to touch, but there are many moth caterpillars that have stinging and toxic spines on their backs. A number of the moth caterpillars I rear have spines that can sting (like stinging nettle plants), and others, like the Puss Caterpillar are downright toxic. In tropical places, many caterpillars are downright dangerous so it's best not to touch them at all unless you know exactly which species you're dealing with. :-O

  • I was very lucky as a child because I played with caterpillars a lot of time, mostly with the yellow caterpillar. I never hurt one and even saved a few from spider's webs. All my friends played with their Barbdolls, my favorite things were my microscope, lizards and frogs

  • I meant to type "Barbie dolls" not Barb dolls ... kind of funny though.

  • My kinda girl - we would have gotten along well! :-) Generally speaking, most caterpillars in the US that don't have hairs or spines on them don't have a way to inject toxins and so are pretty safe... It's the really ornate, hairy/colorful ones that often have a defense system like that. Even so, MOST are not dangerous (just irritating at worst) unless one is really allergic to them. In the tropics it's a different story. Hairy larvae can be quite toxic, even deadly. O_o

  • youre lucky :)

  • no it is not safe only some caterpillars

  • You should always taste them first, before touching them with your hands.

Go ahead...try it...nothing bad will happen....just a little taste....aw, go on, TRY IT!!

  • lol. that just reminded me of Peanut from Jeff Dunham.

  • Yeah. But I never heard back from that guy after I posted that helpful advice!

Maybe he/she is on another site asking the question, .Is it safe to touch any kind of snake with bare hand?

  • cool

  • Thanks for watching :-)

  • Wow, it's easy to get spoiled by your new HD videos. I wish they could all be in HD :D

  • Me too. I just didn't have the equipment back then. However, these slideshows were made from still images which were pretty hi-res so it could be possible to re-make them in HD, like I did for the Stitching the Sky vid. I'll add that to the project list! :-)

  • i just killed 4 lime caterplars who ate my plant whole!

  • They can definitely be pests! What kind of plant? (lime?)

  • yeapps its lime!

  • Hermoso, Beutiful. 5*

  • hahahhahahhaahahahha

  • cool i dont know there was so many differnt types of Caterpillar that was ninjatasic XD

  • There are over 600,000 known species of butterflies and moths, with more being discovered every year. Many of the caterpillars look similar but if even so, with that many kinds out there just imagine the possibilities! :-)

  • God I hate caterpillars, they scare the shit out of me!

  • I hear that a lot - seems to be a common phobia for some reason. That and especially moths.

  • I know me TOOO!

  • Some years ago, the parsley plant on my mother's deck was being eaten by someting. Upon inspection, to our delight, the swallowtail (I think) caterpillars were at it. We let them have it all - so lovely!

  • Black Swallowtail caterpillars love parsley. If they were green with black/yellow/red bands, that's probably what they were. :)

  • on 25 secs is it a caterpillar or a leaf???

  • 0:25 through 0:28 is the pupa of the Phoebis sennae caterpillar. You can watch the metamorphosis of that species in my other videos; GTUgUEpqBrA and knQXYryPZrA

    Enjoy!

  • I love the music, but I just had to save this gallery of cats. I love most caterpillars and am convinced the sat's still hold the title for the most of the most beautiful cats in the world. I personally favor Automeris [not found in California] and any sphingids.

  • love the music! but what is it called?

  • I try to credit the music in the ending credits and text description of each video. It's not much of a title (I have many compositions without "real" titles!) but this one is called "5th Solo" (composition #286). from the SOLO CD. ThCD isn't in production at present, but I hope to have the LightScribe version online soon.
