  • Peter Davison's title card has the children in need thingy, also, the vortex red is darker.

  • ya know if peter davison never regenerated, the show would still be running to today with him :P

  • My favorite doctor, Peter Davidson.

  • FLUG EVEREST SHOP

    MODEM V SIRENS 995

  • One way it could have happened is if they'd ended the original show on The Five Doctors (perfect resting point for the show actually- perfect 20 year mark, and perfect closing line "why not, after all that's how it all started"), and then when they revived the show in the 1996 TV Movie and then in 2005, they'd decided to bring back Davison since he was still the current incumbent whenh the show went off air- indeed the Americans probably would have kept him for his British heart-throb appeal.

  • Yea Peter Davisom was a great Doctor haven't seen much of him though but I do love him just wish he stayed abit londer even though The Caves of Androzani was a amazing story and by the way that episode Dalek by Robert Shearman THATS MY FAVORITE DR WHO STORY EVER!

  • I like the idea of bringing Davison back as the doctor...could be fun having another "older" doctor again. Actually not just fun; I think it could be really good for the series.

  • You know, as much as I adore Tom Baker and David Tennant both, and all the rest of them to one degree or another (Colin Baker being high on my list as a very underrated Doctor), when it comes to it Peter Davison may be my favourite of all time. Nice idea :~D

  • he should have stayed....

  • Nooooooo! Not Billie Piper!

Can't we ever get away from her?

  • @TomatoeAssassin:Totally agree!!! #5 is my favourite Doctor, and the thought of Rose simpering after him is just too depressing. Thank God it's something I never had to see!!

  • Having him and David Tennant on the same show would have been cool! PD was the Doctor I liked before DT! :)

  • @spikelilgirl they have been on the same show, the episode of doctor who: time crash

  • Well, if he stayed for that long, he'd be rubbing Tom Baker's nose in it no end. "Longest serving Doctor, are you? Beat 24 years!"

  • lol

  • he wouldnt stay for that long

  • I know lots of people will go againist what I say, but I personally believe the Tenth Doctor should get over Rose. He's been head over heels for three season. I swear I will hunt BBC down if the Eleventh Doctor is in love with Rose too.

  • The poor Doctor. He never gets the girl - At least not for long.

AND I've got to wonder if there'll be a loop - hole in the regeneration process where the Doctor can last beyond 13 regenerations ? It worked ( sort of ) for the Master, even though he had to hijack a living body or 2 to survive.

  • For sure. There's two ways: i) the tardis can supply the power for a regeneration so it doesn't count against the time lord (can't remember the episode), or ii) the 'loom', afaik.

  • I think they did that in one episode, & then they used his severed hand & whatever power was in it to stabilize him when he was about to regenerate, thus keeping him looking like David Tennant.

    What's " the loom " ?

He would never do like the Master did & literally " walk into " a host, like w / happened in the original series ( unless the host gave his consent or something, sounds like what Stargate's Gou'ald / Tok'Ra do ).

  • Ah. I'd forgotten about the hand thing. But I'm guessing if there's to be another 'cheat' it's not going to be either this or the ones I described. That would be old hat. The writers will come up with something new.

The loom is a device invented by Rassilon to create fully grown time lords from some kind of genetic blueprint in case the originals die. It keeps track of various time lord blueprints and could conceivably appear in the new series as it hasn't yet.

  • Yes, from his regeneration, when it was still kind of happening, he had his hand chopped off & just grew another ( Time Lords being part starfish & all, this is no surprise. ;-) ).

The loom sounds like a gene bank & laboratory.

Hijacking a new body, even with some kind of permission, w / be rather weird AND out of character. It would have to be something fresh or else something that new viewers aren't familiar with, people who aren't that familiar w / the original series.

    Head - scratching.

  • Or they could use cloning from the hand, somehow. OR the entire 13 - regenerations limit thing could be tossed out the window. It was a plot device created when the actor for the 1st Doctor, Richard Hartnell, got too old, sick, etc., to play the part. The gimmick was created with the actor ( S ) in mind.

  • Hmm... yes, I can just see the doctor exclaiming: "The 13 regenerations thing? Oh, that was just a time lord rule. Now that they're all gone, it doesn't apply. I can regenerate as many times as I want .. har har .. because I am . . har har har.. the TIME LORD VICTORIOUS! MuahahahahahahHAHAHAHA!"

Then, when the writers run out of ideas, they'll reveal that the master and, in fact, every one person who has ever existed is in fact the doctor, travelling back and forth, toying with himself. ;)

  • I'll have what you're having..... !!!

Seriously, it was a " plot device " developed w / WILLIAM Hartnell grew too old & infirm to play the Doctor. It also provided a way for new talent to enter the role.

You JUST might have a career in writing for the new series..... !!!

  • You know, I've been saying for years that James Bond is also a Time Lord, but nobody believes me!

  • John Pertwee = 3rd Doctor was styled to resemble James Bond, gadgets included.

    Coincidence ???????

Of course, another article called him a " middle - aged Michael Jackson ", too.

  • Jon Pertwee was always the most charming doctor, the most gentlemanly. When I read H.G.Wells' 'The Time Machine' I always imagined him as the time traveller. And, of course, he was the ultimate time traveller.

  • As we say in the States, John Pertwee was " Old school " ( i.e.: well - mannered, courteous, gentlemanly, considerate ) as both himself & the Doctor. The comparisons to James Bond & Michael Jackson* ( * oy !! ) were from someone else entirely.

  • And don't forget the Venusian Aikido, and Bessie.

  • fjccommish -

The new, revised series on Sci - Fi / Syfy seems to forget elements like Tardis keys, sonic screwdrivers, The Brigadier, Venusian Aikido, Bessie, outrageously LONG scarves & fedoras, etc., while remembering Cyberman, Daleks, Sontarans, K- 9, Sarah Jane Smith, the Chameleon circuit, regenerations, etc.

  • I don't mind changes like those. But when the Doctor laments stopping the Daleks from destroying the universe because he had to kill them, that's too PC. Tom Baker didn't want to kill the Daleks in Genesis of the Daleks, and he was relieved when he didn't have to do it, or so he thought. But the series showed the negative consequences of that sentimentality.

  • The new Doctor does wax overly " sentimental " about Daleks.

I can at least halfway understand why he didn't want the Master to die, because the Master was one of the last surviving Timelords, & therefore kind of a brother.

PC mourning & putting on sack cloth & ashes whenever he has to destroy an alien threat to Earth / the universe at large is overkill.

Original DW was better in so MANY ways, dramatically.

  • After the Master tried to kill him dozens of times, tried to take over or destroy the Earth and Universe a few times, I don't see why he'd want the Master to live. In the old series they created plot elements that explained, in that episode, why the Doctor would want the Master to live, or at least need him to live. He tried to kill me and will keep trying, but Oh Gee he was my friend way back before he tried to kill me, is ridiculous.

  • He had a special spot in his heart ( s ) & soul for the Master, just because he was the only other survivor of the Time Wars. Other than that, say if Gallifrey hadn't been destroyed, he might not have mourned him so much. They want us to believe that the Doctor wouldn't mourn Romana ? Or maybe Leela ( The sexy, fur wearing " savage " woman who settled on Gallifrey after travelling w / him ) ?

Yet of all people, he chooses to weep over the Master because they were friends once. It is STRANGE.

  • Much as I like David Tennent, his doc was as a study in contradictions.

In his first real episode, with those aliens that cut off his hand, he claimed to be a tough new doctor who gave "no second changes".

And yet, as you point out, he's overly sentimental. In the finale where he leaves his other self (regenerated from the hand) with Rose, he claims to be a calmer, more mature doctor who wouldn't hurt a fly. Somewhat of a backflip.

  • Maybe that was just the shock of regeneration ? Regeneration is a traumatic experience that has the effect of leaving the Doctor disoriented & trying to pull himself together. I'm surprised he didn't say " Hello ! My name is Inigo Montoya ! ", or " I know what you're thinking - did he shoot 5 rounds, or was it 6 ? " ;-)

Maybe he's a Time Lord who needs Prozac ? I honestly don't know. They should let Star Trek have all the plot holes & inconsistencies, they're better at it.

  • & the actor set to replace David Tennant looks like he's barely OUT of College ! As another poster pointed out, they're going to have a 10 - year - old playing the Doctor someday. Just thought I'd mention.

  • Yes, it's an interesting choice, speaking more of the show's desire to appeal to a younger audience than real consideration of the role.

But who knows? Matt could be really good. Maybe we're just getting old.... ;)

Some of the other actors they were proposing were equally weird, as options for the Doctor. Good actors, like James Nesbitt, but I'm used to thinking of him as Jekyl/Hyde or that undercover cop he played.

Bill Nighty. Now he would have made a good doctor. Maybe one day...

  • I'm old enough to remember when Doctor Who 1st debuted in the States w / good old Tom Baker. Little did I know ( back then ) that Tom was NOT the 1st Doctor.

Doctor Who is a British institution, not having an authentic British / Welsh / Scottish actor play him would be like having a Sherpa play Superman or a Pakistani guy play Batman ( PC apologies to any Sherpas or Pakistanis out there..... ).

  • That's how I was introduced to it too.

When people talk about classic Dr Who, they often seem to think of Tom Baker first. Somehow, he seemed to be the most famous Dr Who. Maybe it was the excessively long scarf. Maybe it was the impish grin or the jellybeans. Or maybe it was because he did more seasons than any other doctor.

He also had some of the best companions: Leela, K-9, Romana (both) and Nyssa. He didn't have Peri, though. (mmmm, Peri...)

  • Something about Baker was " amiable ", " affable " & maybe eccentric. I think his appeal was due to all the factors you mentioned.

Leela was exotic, Romana & Nyssa were both a bit on the prim & proper side, as was Sarah Jane.

" mmmm, Peri ", indeed !! Peri was added so Dad would tune in. Nicola Bryant still looks yummy.

  • Yes, agreed. The Doctor needs to be English, because that's just who he is. All this guff about having a black doctor or a female doctor is just ridiculous. He was conceived as a white English time-travelling gentleman and, for better or worse, that's who he is. Even regenerating cannot change that. There has to be some core of self that stays constant through all his lives.

By all means introduce other Time Lords of any color or gender (bring back Romana!) but don't mess with the doc.

  • A little Political Correctness is fine, but don't mess with our heros too much. I had heard mutterings that the next Doctor would be black. I wouldn't be overly opposed, but..... Come on.

Hmmm.... Let's make Superman a Korean - Kryptonian, while we're at it, or show one of Cmdr. Data's " brothers " as being a gay Sicilian android ( ! ), while we're at it.

  • ..or let's make the next 007 a short, blond guy. Oh, wait. That happened. Well, what next? A female 007?

    It's a crazy world. /:|

Still, I hear the companion is going to be easy on the eyes. And about the same age as the doctor. Let's just hope it doesn't become: "Twilight: Through Time & Space"

  • There WAS talk of having a female doctor during the original series actually, between Davison & Colin Baker. At least that's what I heard.

There was even discussion of having Christopher Lloyd ( " TAXI ", " Back to the Future " trilogy ) as the Doctor once. I don't know if it was serious, though. The TARDIS' Chameleon circuit glitsches, & camouflages the TARDIS as a DeLorean from the 1980's. Yeah. Right.

Why would DW be like the" Twilight " vampire movies ?

  • I mean, by choosing Matt Smith as the next doctor and providing a younger girl as his companion are they going to play on the whole "young-girl-meets-young-looking-but-long-lived-super-being-and-has-interspecies-romance" theme used by Twilight?

I hope not. But since the doctor is now getting romantically involved with his companions and his age is dropping to meet theirs, who knows?

  • Oh, oh. Got it.

Ever since the 1996 movie, they've tried to play up the fact that the Doctor is not a sexless automaton, nor does he come from That Planet Where They Mate Just Once Every Seven Years. ;-)

He admitted that he loved Rose but never did anything really SEXUAL with her, or Martha Jones.

I kind of think that the Doctor will always be a " Lone Wolf " in that respect, even though he will always crave human / humanoid companionship. But, who knows ?

  • & they did hint - a little - that Colin Baker's Doctor may have enjoyed the feminine fruits of Peri Brown, maybe BETWEEN arguments, it seemed those 2 were ALWAYS kvetching & bickering ! When Peri wasn't whining or grumbling, of course.....

  • Speaking of causality, do you ever wonder what the decisions you make today are doing to the distant, distant future?

  • I believe that swattin a fly or picking a flower sets actions / reactions in motion that we can't foresee, kind of like the story about killing a butterfly & having it affect the weather on the other side of the globe.

If I did Action X, I might win a million $ US, whereas if I do Y, I'll wind up on the street.

If I have a bran muffin instead of a slice of cheese, I might live 15 more years. If I drink beer, it's because scientist say it's got anti oxidants......

  • dont compare Dr who and Twilight, that theme has been used in Dr Who multiple times before

  • Hee hee.. Christopher Loyd would have been fantastic as the Doctor.

Can you imagine him running around the TARDIS control column, hair all wild, shouting, 'Marta! Marta! We have to get the TARDIS up to 88 Miles Per Hour or we'll never break through the time barrier!!'

Then again, maybe he wouldn't make a good Doctor. He's kind of responsible when it comes to time travel. He'd never frolick around the space-time continuum playing god with causality. He'd probably want to destroy the tardis!

  • @genericmeatunit

Oh, Mein Gott & Mon Dieu !!

" When this TARDIS hits 88, you're gonna see some serious s**t ".

I think you're right, he wouldn't want to muck around too much with causality. At least he wouldn't go back in time to wipe out the Daleks.

  • I agree with you, but there's only one small problem: Christopher Lloyd isn't British. Otherwise, I'd LOVE to see him as the Doctor!

  • 007 is writen and scripted fr a male part it always will be if it changes i will eat my hat

  • We'll all eat our hats. Then we'll regurgitate the contents and send them to the BBC, hopefully in time to stop them from making another Queen Elizabeth production where she's played by a male actor.

  • New Dr. Who has too much hand wringing over killing people bent on destroying the universe. Oh no, you killed the Daleks, I must strand you in another dimension.

  • Actually it was more like "Oh no, *I* killed the Daleks, *I* must strand *myself* in another dimension."

  • peter davison would never be the doctor he said from the start of his carrear he only wnated to do three and plus fans would have emanded he'd left because you'd get bored of th same dr over nd over agen

  • not to bad

  • Sweet combo :)

  • davy owns everyone's life!!

    Great vid!!!

    Like the music!!!!!!!!!!

  • No DAVID DAVID Come Back

  • im gonna miss him :(

  • Mate, you've really got to get into the habit of crediting your music sources. This version of the Howell theme is by Hardwire.

  • Ah, you're right, i usually do credit, must've forgot this time, thanks for pointing that out.

  • Could you Imagine an real episod with Peter Davison and Billie Piper! OMG, I'd Love it!

  • I dont like piper

  • nether do I!! I hate her!! i don't remember writing that!!!! I really hate her guts, maybe because I want David Tennant to mysef!!!

  • @whovian28 your wrong!

  • @whovian28 I loved Rose. I want to lick her asshole.

  • I thought she did her best job in series 1 , secondly in series 4 , but she was a little overconfident in series 2

  • invader 1000 you read my mind!

  • That would be an ace episode!!! 8-)

  • lazy!!, what if my arse!! MrTumble could get away with a better versiion of blue peter.

  • Very nice! Love the music... and good 'fake' "Peter Davison" credits too!

  • It'd be much better than bloody Matt Smith

  • hahahah i agree

  • I want 5 for 11

    *pout*

  • but not as awesome as Paterson Joseph :P

  • whos he????

  • He played 'Rodrick' in Bad Wolf. I'm not quiet sure why britbeetle think he's awesome.

  • I wonder if they use blufftitler to make the doctor who titles?

  • That would have been a cool AU special

  • this is rubbish

  • oi fock off

  • LOL I'm trying to imagine Peter Davison with Billie Piper.

I'm sure Jackie would be pleased to see him ;)

  • I loved the music! Good effort!

  • I'd rather Peter :)

    He was my fave doctor

  • He's mine too! Who says we start a petition for Tennant to degenerate into Davison, eh?! Hehe.

  • That'd be an interesting episode,wouldn't it? :)

  • It certainly would!

  • Hey Im for it.

  • nice job for the video, but I don't think Peter Davision would of kept doing Doctor who, since he's getting older he can't do all the normal things the Doctor would do. He's in his 50's and you don't wanna see him turning 50 for nothing.

  • I respect your ability to say whatever you like about my videos, however I do NOT respect butchering of the English language.

  • it was a good try i think that was a bit harsh

  • @randomist95 no the peter davison title is real, its from a charity episode with tennant and davison

  • I do not agree. Peter Davison just didn't seem to have the confidence of the other Doctors. In bad situations, all the other Doctors appear to get anrgy, while Davison panics and cries.

  • Close. First of all, it's Cult, not calt. And it's Dalek Jast, not jasp.

P.S, What does this have to do with this video.

  • Uh, not quite, look in the credits of any episode he's in, and It'll say Davison.

  • no, its davison.

    Look on wikipedia.

  • Oh yeah, trust The Sun...

    It's Peter DAVISON-fact.

How would we get through life without the wonder that is wikipedia...?

  • I hate to tell YOU but you couldn't be more wrong. It is "Davison" and any website, DVD, VHS, Dr. Who book, Big Finish CD, Time Crash Episode, Davison autograph, will confirm that. It's kind of embarrassing that you would post this without actually looking it up and confirming your claim. Admit that you were wrong and move on.

Someone posted something the other day claiming that "Romana's" name was actually "Ramona". He was so insistant and it was really funny. This reminds me of that.

  • Ramona? Lol that's an ugly, the ugliest spanish female name!

  • ya i was gonna correct sumeone but then i read it =P

  • @EAnn3 its prounounce#d davison, not davidson

  • @EAnn3 what the heck??? it's DAVISON!!! that's like like saying David Tendant

  • how did you get the clips??

  • Same way everyone else gets them.

  • yes but how?

  • dude from the internet

  • there is no clips, its pure editing for 34 seconds of nothing

  • very nice editing :)

  • well if he stayed for the new series it wouldnt be a new series and so this title sequence would never happen, pretty good ignoring all that lols!

  • Smooth edit that man.

  • Very creative! Well done!

  • Yeah, Five was always my favourite classic Doctor, and I love the New Series.

  • Ha Ha! You could just imagine that:

"Come on Doctor, we've got to stop the Daleks!"

"Sorry Rose, I've got to go and get my pension from the post office!!!"

    Keep em coming

    4.9/5

  • not funny

  • Sorry if everyone didn't think I was funny, there's no need to have a go

  • I thought that was funny GuyWhoLikesBlue2...... :)

  • Thank you

  • That's funny lmao ;D

  • nah, i reckon peter with matha would have been better

  • Nicely done, but I think Davison has had his time as The Doctor, good as it was, Doctor who needs to always move on.

  • One of my favourite Doctors Peter Davidson. To answer your question I think he would be a bit dated but would act the socks off David Tennent.

    Nice work.

  • Yeah Peter Davison and Tom Baker were the best actors to portray the doctor. New series or classic.

  • I think they're relatively equal: both absolutely brilliant in their own ways.

  • Tennant's Doctor is a neat fusion of the two, no?

  • Nice edting well done
