But after I got my 1st Crocs(Prepair style: which I think it looks way better than the original Crocs) it's the most comfortable shoes I ever worn. I LOVE my Crocs; they're practically indestructible. Both my 12yo & 21yo have pairs. The 21yo wears them when helping clients @ the respite ctr where she works bathe. It protects her feet & prevents slipping down. Many residents have them 2. I garden in them, bathe my guide dog, take him out for potty breaks, to/from mailbox, gr8 in summer rain, easy to dry. My 12yo can't destroy them & she's hard on shoes. Guess I need to stock up on a couple pair b4 they're all gone. The knock-offs are horrid.
I didn't say it wasn't easy for someone else to copy; however, I AM saying that the knock-offs break within hours, days, to weeks. The "Croc" brand shoes themselves appear to be practically indestructable considering the pairs for my 12yo, 21yo, and my own pair are still tough and going strong with no rips, tears, or hard wear that would make it appear they are on the verge of breaking. Crocs are a durable shoe, esp comparing to the knock-offs which aren't.
Crocs are hideous, but they're kind of useful. I row, and I need a shoe that I can slip on and off when I'm on the dock before we launch, because we only have about a minute to do so. Taking the time to tie shoelaces gets you yelled at. They're pretty much perfect for this.
I would NEVER wear them outside the boathouse, though. They're an eyesore.

one major problem was because there where too many imitation brands. you could get the same shoe cheaper at walmart in an off brand than geting 20 dollar crocs
InHer: The problem w/ the knock-off brands is that they tear or rip in less than a week, two at the most. My 21yo bought a pair of the knock-offs 1st & they didn't last through an entire 8hr shift @ her job. The Croc brand I bought her for her BD are more than a year old, she works 50+/-hrs a week @ a respite care center where she helps some 12 to 20 clients in/out of showers & they're gr8 for this. The clients began buying them or having family buy them for showering & walking in the garden etc

wtf i just looked up the stock quote for crox and no its worth 8 cents less then yesterday. Clearly they are not going out of buisness or there would have been a sell off.
The other issue is other companies have made copies using the same material. Some of the copies are *slightly* better looking or are more practical (have some straps so they stay on better) yet are just as comfortable (which is the real reason they were popular because they are comfy ... more comfortable than the old standby flip flops and again more durable because flip flops always break.) I'm a children's dentist and it's summer and I can tell you tons of kids are wearing Croc-like shoes now.
By the way Crocs sold 100 million shoes before the economic downturn. They simply opened too many factories trying to keep up with demand. But as demand slumped, the excess inventory remained, the factories remained and profits stopped matching or out pacing costs. Its an unfortunate case.
Plus..... They're fucking expensive!

I LOVE my Crocs; they're practically indestructible. Both my 12yo & 21yo have pairs. The 21yo wears them when helping clients @ the respite ctr where she works bathe. It protects her feet & prevents slipping down. Many residents have them 2. I garden in them, bathe my guide dog, take him out for potty breaks, to/from mailbox, gr8 in summer rain, easy to dry. My 12yo can't destroy them & she's hard on shoes. Guess I need to stock up on a couple pair b4 they're all gone. The knock-offs are horrid.

I didn't say it wasn't easy for someone else to copy; however, I AM saying that the knock-offs break within hours, days, to weeks. The "Croc" brand shoes themselves appear to be practically indestructable considering the pairs for my 12yo, 21yo, and my own pair are still tough and going strong with no rips, tears, or hard wear that would make it appear they are on the verge of breaking. Crocs are a durable shoe, esp comparing to the knock-offs which aren't.

Crocs are hideous, but they're kind of useful. I row, and I need a shoe that I can slip on and off when I'm on the dock before we launch, because we only have about a minute to do so. Taking the time to tie shoelaces gets you yelled at. They're pretty much perfect for this.
I would NEVER wear them outside the boathouse, though. They're an eyesore.

Fuck haters. i bought my first pair at universal island of adventure and they were great for going on wet rides and still having shoes to walk around the park. one major problem was because there where too many imitation brands. you could get the same shoe cheaper at walmart in an off brand than geting 20 dollar crocs

InHer: The problem w/ the knock-off brands is that they tear or rip in less than a week, two at the most. My 21yo bought a pair of the knock-offs 1st & they didn't last through an entire 8hr shift @ her job. The Croc brand I bought her for her BD are more than a year old, she works 50+/-hrs a week @ a respite care center where she helps some 12 to 20 clients in/out of showers & they're gr8 for this. The clients began buying them or having family buy them for showering & walking in the garden etc

The other issue is other companies have made copies using the same material. Some of the copies are *slightly* better looking or are more practical (have some straps so they stay on better) yet are just as comfortable (which is the real reason they were popular because they are comfy ... more comfortable than the old standby flip flops and again more durable because flip flops always break.) I'm a children's dentist and it's summer and I can tell you tons of kids are wearing Croc-like shoes now.

By the way Crocs sold 100 million shoes before the economic downturn. They simply opened too many factories trying to keep up with demand. But as demand slumped, the excess inventory remained, the factories remained and profits stopped matching or out pacing costs. Its an unfortunate case.
