  • This is Def- Pink Floyd : AKA = A Pink Rubber Protective ! from the ANIMALS + Wish you were here Lp's/Cd's.. Your a Dog at heart ? have a cigar ? Great Mix..I love it...Solo Guitar Sound = FAB.

  • I also believe that the reason why earlier PT vids were removed was due to them changing Record Companies. Now that they are on Roadrunner, it must've been Roadrunner's idea to take down ALL their videos not belonging to an official Roadrunner account. Such is the music industry.

  • PT is awesome

  • The guitar sounds greatly inspired by Dogs by Pink Floyd, excellent :D

  • Amazing. Such a strong and sincere chorus.

  • just faved. unbelievable great song !!

  • Why Heaven Shall Burn is related to Porcupine Tree? I mean, I completely love both bands, but its kinda weird haha. Is just like having The Rolling Stones in the realted videos of a Behemoth song

  • They sound great. First time listener.

  • how did i come here from deathcore...

  • are you experienced?

  • Times have not changed so much, we just internet and facebook as well, that's it!

  • They are soooo awesome!!!! Gavin Harrison is the motherfucking man!!!!!!!

  • God my generation fucked up music... What the fuck happened?

  • @BasementGorgon See, when you say that, all I hear is "ALL I LISTEN TO IS THE RADIO."

  • @BasementGorgon mainstream music doesn't define the music of a whole generation. if you went out and looked for some good modern music, you would find it.

  • I just now discovered this band. I was blind, now I see.

  • Extraordinary band, add in my fav thanx

  • I remember first listening to this song about two years; time flies.

  • hey can anyone give me a list of porcupine trees "heaviest" songs? or somewhere to start? i would really like to appreciate their slower songs but first i have to get into it with a heavier sound, sort of how i did with opeth. cheers

  • @Lekiwi33 deadwing, wedding nails, hatesong, fear of a blank planet, anesthatize, nil recurring, what happens now, so called friend.

  • @jimmy Haha you listen to Porcupine Tree, Jimmy? By the way, I really like your videos-- if you did a cover of this song, I would feel like a pony.

  • @jimmy Ur awesome jimmy!

  • Oh fuck! Trains video almost reached a million views, but then it got deleted

Thank you youtube for removing good music for no good reason, but leaving shit music and shoving it up my throat everywhere I go

  • It seems a bit odd that Wilson doesn't like PT being compared to Pink Floyd when interviewed yet goes ahead and rips off several of tunes from "Animals". Homage is one thing but this? Ehh....

  • ...a work of Art. Thanx P.T.

  • Brilliant! Reminds me of Dogs by Pink Floyd.

  • @runningshoe1 That's cuz it's a tribute to music like that, the chord progression is the same.

  • *Howl* :-(

  • things have not to be famous to be good

  • only 765 489 views ? WHY is youtube showing only my views ?

  • okay here im sittin here geekin the fuck out haha this shit gay as fuck

  • actually I'm not that much in this kind of music, but the video is ...I don't have the true worlds...artistic, beautiful

  • songs like this remind me why I listen to music ... stupendous!

  • so many 60s references its awesome

  • Well actuallz, now the most watched PT video is trains with 800,000 views

  • Time Flies, so do Pigs or in this case Sheep, Time slows down, but in this case Sheep speeds up, good call RIC31, Born in the year of Animals and Time and Cigars, We all love Pink Floyd, it's the English Way, keep it up!

  • ok...i adore porcupine tree...but this song is so stolen from pink floyd

  • lol this sounds similar to dogs by pink floyd in the beginning

  • sounds like a speed up version of sheep by pink floyd decent

  • Underrated by who? Anyone who would underrate this band doesn't have an opinion that counts. IMO

  • ugh, time flies, I hate them, they get all over my food. It gets to the point when I just can no longer eat it.

  • You got to be crazy, got to have a real need!

  • WTF! Sounds SO MUCH like Dogs by Pink Floyd... it's not even funny! The strumming of the guitar, the vocal segments, the whole tone of the song and EVERYTHING! GO LISTEN TO DOGS - PINK FLOYD RIGHT NOW. PAUSE THE VIDEO, OPEN A NEW TAB AND LISTEN RIGHT F***ING NOW! GO! I'M WAITING!

EVEN THE LYRICS ARE THE SAME: PT = "but after a while", PF = " and after a while" OMFG! WOW!

  • @ItsTiedToAStick I have to admit it reminded me a bit of Dogs & Sheep from Animals from Floyd. But here is the thing, these guys made this on the XXI century. Now prog rock is a thing of the past and these guys are making good music when all we got is Justin Maggot & Lady Screwga... i give em credit for that.

  • @ItsTiedToAStick They are very similar in parts, but Steven Wilson has always maintained his Pink Floyd influence, and the band very much pays homage to them.

  • Look up "while the city sleeps-back when we knew", similar soundscapes and big crescendos.

  • this is the most viewed PT vid and it doesn't even have a million views?

what 's up with this world?

  • @gogolplex74 Ages ago Fear of a Blank Planet and Blackest eyes had well over a million views each, but they were taken down for copyright rubbish. That was about 2 years ago, so both would of had over 2 million by now. Still low i know for how good Porcupine tree are!

  • @gogolplex74 Walrus.

  • @gogolplex74 Yeah, and the worst thing about it is : This Song isnt even complete here ! :-(

  • @gogolplex74 i don't want to live on this planet anymore.

  • @gogolplex74 I remember when Trains hit 900,000 but then it got taken down. Fucking copyright.

  • muito bom

  • this has the guitar riff and the keyboard riff in it. Or synth if you know what i mean

  • lol Opeth and Trivium are suggested with this? whaaaaaaaaat!

  • @zak813 The singer of this band writes and performs a lot with Opeth..

  • @fretburnerjude oh thats awesome i never knew that. thanks for the info.

  • @zak813 Because they're both under Roadrunner I assume!

  • @zak813 Steven Wilson, the genius behing PT, also produced one of Opeth's albums. Plus he mixes music for them, and did for anathema as well. He's also good friends with Mikael, Opeth's frontman. So, basically, he has good taste in everything.

  • Like this if you thought of Pink floyds "Dogs" when you heard this song :)

  • I actually like this version better. The huge guitar solo part seems contrived on The Incident.

  • Sexy!!

  • To anyone who likes this check out Blackfield as well.

Steve Wilson is the man and has his influence in a few projects - all worth a listen.

Both We7 and Spotify have some music on their legal and free sites.

I'm 52 and found the bands by chance after listening to artists radio where they play 'similar music' - it's the way to find new bands from old.

  • Good song. But if you want exactly this spread over 41 minutes and sexier, you're better off listening to Animals.

  • @MrGuitarmanjordan

Exactly :) - well noted man!

  • Hey if you guys like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! Ive been listening to them ever since I heard them on NCIS:LA and love it. Reminds me of Porcupine Tree a bit

  • holy shit this song is amazing

  • Music lives!!

  • Comment removed

  • if you haven't heard the full 11 minutes, you haven't heard anything.

  • anyone notice that the song released date is September 11? xddddd

  • the chords and rythm is a cover of album animals of pink floyd.

  • Comment removed

  • @psicosesurreal You don't seem to know what a "cover" is!? But it's true, this song seems like a reference to one of the greatest and the most underestimated PF albums. And why not? It's well done. I just begin to love it. I'm gonna watch out for more PT music, speaking as one of the biggest Pink-Floyd-fans.

  • @tubus2006 well, probably i didnt explain correctly. This song is clearly influenced by music "dogs" of the album "animals" by Pink Floyd. Is not a clear cover of course. And i mean that, because i´m pretty sure that the majority of people that heard this music, dont know it. Yes, one of the albuns underestimated, like many others non comercial by Pink Floyd. Pink floyd defenitely is not "Dark side of the moon" and "wish u were here".

Im gonna too watch more PT music, they are very good ;)

  • @psicosesurreal

I picked up on that the first time I heard this. Good ear, and good taste of music! ;)

  • @psicosesurreal I am reminded of Pink Floyd the instant I hear this

  • Damn, this music just makes you wanna lay back, chill out, and light up a fatty. exactly what i am doing right now. =)

  • Alright, this might be strange/heresy, but I always see comments that Porcupine Tree is similar to Pink Floyd, but I don't get it. I really like PT, but could never get into PF. There's just something different about them. Am I missing something?

  • @Leonhart231 Well, PT usually deals with higher tempo's, more experimental soundscapes and frankly angelic guitar work/singing. There's similarities... But in term's of ingenuity, originality, experimentalism and consistency, PT knock the Floyd out of the water.

  • @TheProgUnderground that would be true if pt was around in the 70s

  • @Leonhart231 if you could never get into pink floyd, then yes, you are obviously missing something

  • thank god for Porcupine Tree, been waiting a long time for a band to sound this great

  • Great Hangover Music

  • OK, I admit it, I downloaded this album.. but holy cow it;s so good, I went to Best Buy and BOUGHT it. It was 14.00 very well spent.

  • slightly too repetitive for me. love it or hate it

  • 700 000 views = underrated ?

  • @system32FloOoT probably more like 70,000 each watching 10 times

  • @rgrainger09 not underated at all :)

  • really doesn't sound like Hanson tbf...

  • SOUNDS JUST LIKE HANSON

  • does this band remind anyone else of Hanson?

  • If you want to fly, jump off a building and miss the ground

  • @BukkakeNation Try it out, and then tell me how it went.

  • @HeadbangMushroom Silly! why would i be flying with a laptop?

  • @BukkakeNation Idk ... :(

  • Hey if you like Porcupine Tree then check out Grey Skies Fallen on my channel!

  • Ripping off Dave Matthews Band

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris

    THATS SO COOL,

TOO BAD NO ONE GIVES A FUCK EXCEPT YOU.

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris omg, there still a lot of nazis in this world :S

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris

    Let me consider this...

    SORRY,

    no fucks are given.

  • Does Dogs - Pink Floyd come into mind at all?

  • Comment removed

  • @Azaxaaa way too much like Pink Floyd Dogs.

  • The best music video ever made!!

  • Good song but the similarity with "Dogs" is unmistakable and I doubt Steve Wilson is unaware of it, I'm sure he's on top of his classic prog... it has to be either some kind of sly tribute or he had a brain fart while writing the song and didn't realize it was sounding so awesome because it was already a badass song by the Floyd.

Also check out 2:21 - anyone hear the coda of "Sheep"?

  • @SubquestionFilms Yes to all of that. Great song though.

  • @SubquestionFilms Howdy! :o)

Wilson's wiki page lists his Floyd immersion from age 8..

As an untalented/unknown recording artist myself, I find that ghosting a favorite song (Police, Floyd, Rush, Yes, Coldplay, etc..) is a fitting tribute to those giants that I aspire to..

I do hope that PT gets more U.S. exposure; great musicians, great songs... Cheers!

  • @SubquestionFilms don't offend pink floyd :)) this might sound like dogs, but it lacks the brilliance

  • its sucks to understand the message after all the opportunities had gone.

  • why in the world is Dragonforce sugested with this vid

  • @Erik1495 Because Youtube is clueless

  • @Erik1495 same record label :P duh ;)

  • @Erik1495

because Dragonforce are signed to roadrunner records?

  • @danielalien o rlly??

  • @Erik1495 The 2 bands are on the same label, Road Runner records..

  • @mglickman13 you are so smart........

  • @Erik1495 my guess whould be their both in roadrunner

  • @TheAccountet i know but i meant dragonforce is shit and porcupine isnt thats what i meant it isnt actually a doubt, 5 people have already answered me thinking they are a smart ass <.< good to know you are kind :P

  • 4:18, Is that Mr. Fripp?

  • Steven Wilson :D

  • The Absolute End Of The World (Post-rock / electronic from italy)

    myspace / taeotw

  • this song reminds me a lot of dogs by pink floyd. but maybe im just high.

  • @iwearpants06

    I totally agree with you

  • @iwearpants06 its the same fucking song

  • Youuuu got me craaazyyyy... Great band !

  • most underrated band in the history of music

  • @amcoho4 I think we should keep it that way. Massive publicity is what kills bands, and makes what is the disgust that is "Music" today.

  • @amcoho4 Dude, come on. Their shows are packed.

  • @amcoho4 They are well known in the rock scene. They are no longer underrated.

  • @omerdrow well it's funny how their never on the radio or tv. i've never at all heard their named mentioned until i stumbled across them one day. and for steve wilson to be now recognized in his recent albums is underrated in itself because he's been in the rock seen for 20 plus years.

  • GENIUS!!!

  • moola =)

  • I love this band Wilson is by far the Waters of his generation. then again Waters is more into the lyrics and Wilson is well rounded, lets just go with PT being a modern Floyd. Well no PT is just PT good prog bands can't be compared to anyother band so I guess I'm wrong

  • This is completely beautiful and original but i've also recognized a "Dogs" similarity in the intro. Anyways, truly awsome song!

  • i do hear some pink floyd influence here ..

but hey its okay there is no such music that is not influenced ..

  • @FuckUiWannaSleep well said, good sir

  • steven wilson born in 1967,the year of "st.peppers" and "are you experience?"!!!!

well, I was born in 1972 the year of "the dark side of the moon","foxtrot" and "close to the edge"!!! what year is better??????

  • @mariangoldenville The Dark Side of the Moon: Recorded: June 1972- January 1973 in store 24 March 1973:)

  • that i know it! i know the history of pink floyd like the palm of my hand!!but the important thing is when was recorded and was in 1972! sg.peppers also was recorded at the end of 1966 and released in 1967! then steven wilson also it is wrong!!!!

  • @mariangoldenville when you say "the year of something" it usually refers to the year that everybody knew it not when exactly it was created

  • I am a huge floyd fan and don't see any relevance. I think this bands was influenced by flod, but that's a good thing. Not many bands in todays market can play an original "somewhat close" to floyd and make it go nationwide. I never heard of this band and will never have had it be for someone who told me to check them out as I am looking for a keyboardist in my band.

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD .., 666,068?

    O_o

666?...............Wtf!! i mean i forgive madonna for being satanic ... But not SW or porcupine tree xD

  • Pink Floyd and PT are not mutually exclusive interests. You can appreciate one without belittling the other. I love them both.

  • No matter about similarities - if You dig through whole history of music, I presume there's no single music creation, which is not resembling something made in the past, and even if, wait a moment and You'll hear. Especially that nowadays in the net You can find thousands of very good bands, which maybe will never have a chance to be listened by bit larger audience. Music flies, and appears in different forms, like water, since our ape ancestors started to hit rhythmically some piece of wood :)

  • Anyone who doesnt think this sounds exactly like Dogs is deaf......put them both on at the exact same time

  • The time is now. You know what i mean

  • @xxEpiicycle explain please ..

  • @FuckUiWannaSleep Life is normal. Waiting for something to happen is useless, because by the time you realize it, it might be too late. Make it happen, and start today. Its what makes life worth living

  • @xxEpiicycle thanks for that explaination !

and ur 100% right with that aditude for life ..

  • But after a while, you can pick up points for style.

  • Lassie Hoile makes the footage way too literal sometimes. It's starting to bug me a bit.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets

Hm, it does work well for this track though.

  • @Restayvien This one is definitely an exception, but like Fear Of A Blank Planet.. Soo cheesy..

  • If you like good Progressive Rock music listen to my Instrumental Project called "Emptymaze". I play every instrument on this and I've recorded everything at my home. My first EP with four songs is done... You can hear a Preview on my Channel. For more infos go to my Facebook Page which is linked on my Channel...

  • molto simile a Dogs dei Pink Floyd...

  • I was born in '87

It was the year of Appetite for Destruction

    Hysteria and The Joshua Tree

  • @SkrebMasters I was born in '95

It was the year of The Sky Moves Sideways

Slaughter of the Soul and Symbolic

    whatever that could mean anyway

  • Steven is a true musical pioneer, he creates music that is new and like nothing else before it.

  • I keep returning to watch this video time and time again. It makes me feel warm & good and melancholy all at the same time. It almost brings me to tears every time I watch it, yet at the same time the triplet groove has me bobbing my head. To me, that is the result of brilliant song craftsmanship combined with brilliant musicianship and stunning visualizations.

  • Comment removed

  • Half the songs gone :(

  • Porcupine tree makes me belive in music... they make me feel that our generation can be as brilliant as 60's and 70's.

  • what about the guitar solo...? but nice video !

  • I was born in '93, the year of up the down stairs, and are you experienced?

  • @SmallFish616 i was born in '94 the year of moonloop single, and are you experienced?
