Mostly I agree with Kinsella, but Paikin, a moderate and fair reporter? Not! Paikin consistently fawns on right wing guests, over & over again, & listens to their views with almost maidenly coyness. By contrast, when dealing with left leaning commentators he ALWAYS plays the devil's advocate. And I'm sick of it. I don't watch his program anymore. It just makes me angry. I haven't seen a real, proper debate on TV where the right is rigorously questioned, since Counterspin, on the old CBC.

i wish steve would answer this question. i have a creepy feeling steve is secretly a conservative. it kind of showed in the debate.

no, most moderate fair reporters are actually lefties! but during the debate, if you remember, Paikin cut Harper a lot more slack! I have watched that debate a number of times and felt let down. but you are correct that most of the time Paikin is a moderate, fair reporter. this is why i was so puzzled by what happened during the debate! either way, even if he is a conservative, i still think he is one of the best in the biz!

that's true. I think if a reporter really is moderate and fair you shouldn't be able to tell their own personal views. As for the debates, I think any moderator would've done what he did considering that it was essentially a 4 on 1 the entire time, and a petty one at that. The entire debate was a disgrace quite frankly seeing not a single candidate get past childish name calling
