Personally, I believe history as stale tradition is a myth, an excuse espoused by those who might like to see change but feel the need to justify their inaction by disseminating the disempowerment they feel to those around them. I've seen great change - pure change, fundamental change - in individuals, and believe the experience of profound change as a society would be very similar - equally difficult, equally necessary, equally possible.
