They had him booked for an appearance/match and he had his mommy call JR (at the time, head of talent relations) and say he didn't feel good and couldn't make it. It's on one of those Legends of Wrestling Round Tables and JR himself is the one telling the story. Had his mommy call?! Yeah, there is a guy Stone Cold would fear lol!
Its too bad this was the only way pump could ever win against his reall opponents. He always brought bagwell and other members of the NWO to the ring and it always ended the same (the other members jumping pumps opponent behind the refs back). Pump was amazing back then, but was pretty terrible in an actual 1v1 against any of the other "names" at the time
Bagwell helped Steiner's career tremendously. He was the mouthpiece for the most part early on when Scott didn't have a ton of charisma and they were a great combination.
@garymaster42 Totally agree. Buff was a great 2nd to Steiner and definetly helped put him over. Just the entrances were great. A guy hopping around pointing at your biceps to the NWO theme. How cool!

The end of '98 is when Scott Steiner was at his peak. Just look at his massive muscles! Steiner was a powerhouse stud...one of the greatest athletes in the world....he was strong as an ox and had the best moves in wrestling.
I always found it fascinating how a Nitro crowd would look like a PPV crowd like this. WCW had packed arenas thats for sure...wheather they gave away tix as I've heard or wheather if they sold out, it was packed to the point where u couldnt fit another fan in there with a crow bar lol
Scott Steiner and Goldberg were both strong powerful studs. But, Steiner's physique was about as perfect as any athlete's. No wonder he became a heel and guys in the audience hated him. They were jealous of him because he showed off his muscles, beat dudes up, got the belt, and bragged about all his freaks he took horizontal. Nobody could compare to Steiner in '98 '99 and 2000.
