  • Creative use of light. The texture rendering is spot on. Parabens!

  • @RonBeam Hello! Thank you kindly!! So nice of you to comment! :)) Roby

  • What a wonderful talent you have and thank you for letting us see your work. How I wish I could do that!

As for comments suggesting that art which looks like its subject isn't art and can be captured in a second with a camera, that kind of thinking can only come from someone who's got no talent with a brush. It's easy to take a photo but if I had the chance to have a photo of that dog or this lovely artwork, I know which one I'd choose! Not the photo! Thanks again for a lovely few minutes.

  • @aussiecarol Hello! Thank you very much for your wonderfully supportive and complimentary comments, makes my day!!! I appreciate that you took the time to comment and keep it positive... so I sincerely thank you so much for that! :)) Roby

  • That came out great!

What did you use? Looks like oil pastells and colored pencils on paper, but I'd like to know to be sure.

  • @maddogfarg0 Thank you so much! I use CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with stick pastels. Some of my favorite brands are Sennelier, Unison, Schmincke and Rembrandt. My paper of choice is Bristol Board 500 series cold press vellum. Thanks again! :)) Roby

  • @Nanmios .lol your funny, haha!

  • HOLY FKING SHIT O.O AWESOME JOB WELL DONE

  • @wonderfulbliss97 Thank you so VERY for your wonderfully positive comment, I appreciate that!!!!!!!! :))))

  • @Nanmios Isn't it a joyous thing that we all can have an opinion about art! :))

  • @Nanmios Yeah...I know it only takes 1 second to take a great photo but I sincerely enjoy the hours it takes me to create a work of art. That brings me great joy! :))

  • what type of paper and pencil you use for this magnificent job?! thaks

  • @aldrianus20 Hello! Thanks so much! I use Bristol Board 500 series cold press vellum or rag illustration board. My pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils and I get both the paper and the pencils at Dick Blick here on line, thanks again! :))

  • I have 3 hungarian vizslas, they are awesome, although I think in America you drop the hungarian from the name. great video, I loved it.

  • @Arcadiah How nice you have 3 Vizslas! I bet it's a busy house with the energy level of these beautiful dogs!! Thanks for the nice comment and enjoy your great dogs!! :)

  • Crazy.....

  • Hi! Beautiful work! I was wondering what kind of pastels you used (Prisma Color?), as well as what type of paper or canvas. Thank you!

  • @neids27 Thanks! I use Bristol Board 500 series cold press paper. No oil pastels. I use the higher end pastel sticks such as Schmincke, Unison, Sennelier, Rembrandt and Grumbacher to name a few. I love the CarbOthello pastel pencils as they are how I achieve my fine detail. I use the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener for the great points I can get on the Carbo's and I get that sharpener at Office Max. I don't use the Prismas as they are waxie and harder to layer with in my opinion. :)))

  • @robertarobybaer Thanks for your helpful response! I will definitely look into those instead of my usual painting medium for a future project. I love the amount of precision and control pencils and pastels have...and your work looks just as amazing as an oil painting!

  • @neids27 Yeah, give them a try, you might like them! Thanks again! :)

  • hey, my dogs a vizla, she had surgery today, so she was super excited to see this. Ha ha. This is beautiful! Thanks.

  • @Christopher29m Thanks! Visited Sam, he is a very handsome Vizsla with tons of personality. I am accepting a limited amount of commissions, should you be interested contact me and we'll talk! :))

  • misleading title. I thought you were painting.

  • @ahsnaps Hello! It's called painting when you fill the entire paper with pastels!! If I just did the dog and no background it would be called a drawing or rendering. :))

  • Comment removed

  • How do you blend the colors so that it looks so smooth and not grainy? I'm having trouble with that.

  • @Antgirl89 Hi! Starting with the paper... I use Bristol Board 500 cold press. If you're using that paper try to apply more stick pastels and really push it around and into the paper. I am using my fingers which for me works very well. If you're using a heavy textured paper it's a battle! I also will use the pastel pencil to go around on the painting and fill in the most obvious specks left after smudging. Let me know if that works! :))

  • How do you get your pastel pencils so sharp? (At least i think your using pastel) I can never get mine that way. Wonderful painting.

  • @artmaster211 Hello! I use CarbOthello pastel pencils. I have found that the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric pencil sharpener works great for getting them so sharp. I get them at Office Max. After the initial sharpening I only leave the pencil in for about 1-2 seconds, otherwise you'll just be grinding off needlessly. You'll need to get an awl or ice pick to dig out the broken off pastels, cause that sometimes happens. I try to gently push them through to the back trying not to hit the blades!!

  • dam that's bad-ass. hope i'm as good as you one day. great drawing by the way.

  • @gotenssj2girl Thank you!!! Lots of years of practice, I LOVE painting!!

  • is that pastel pencils?

  • @Krayonz01607 Hi! Yes I use CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with stick pastels. They blend beautifully together and I love the detail I can get with the pastel pencils. My paper of choice is Bristol board 500 cold press. :)

  • @robertarobybaer wow...ur a great artist, but im only 12 and i want to be a graphic designer. do u think u can do art with normal pencil crayons? or like a sketchbook pro? sorry im not familiar with really long names of certain tools.

  • @Krayonz01607 Well, being 12 is a great place to start! Sure you can do art with normal pencils and a sketchbook. Practice is the key to success in the art world. You have to work hard at it but it's well worth the effort. Good luck!!!! :)))))

  • @robertarobybaer see well, since im a young male. i am the type of person that gets distracted easily by homework, or simply video games or other interests and it would be nearly impossible for me to draw 12 hours straight lol. any suggestions on how i can stay focused? or how u did?

  • @Krayonz01607 You're young... focus on what makes you happy. Those are all good distractions and if it's drawing or other interests, life will fall into place for you.

  • Wow, just ran across you on youtube...I do oils and watercolor, but oh my gosh, you're just wonderful! You give one a whole new medium to think about. Keep up your excellent work!

  • @iowalady1 Thank you so very much for that glowing comment. Pastels are fun and using the pastel pencils does open up a whole new world for bringing in the detail. Give it a try! :)

  • Wow, just ran across you on youtube...I do oils and watercolor, but oh my gosh, you're just wonderful! You give one a whole new medium to think about. Keep up your excellent work!

  • Absolutely fantastic, awesome to watch and see the finished result. amaizing and a pleasure to watch.

  • @AL9862 Thanks so much for the comment, missed it before! :))

  • Hi. So amazing!! I'm glad I found you on YouTube ! Can you tell me what pencil type you outline your sketch with first. Also about how many hours start to finish for this particular piece. Thanks for writing back to your viewers and taking that time. It helps us learn. Again so unbelievably beautiful.

  • @Artvideojunkie Hello! Thank you so much for your amazing comment! I use Ticonderoga #2 (or soft) pencil but any graphite pencil will do. Be careful not to press too hard or erase too hard as you will break down the tooth of the paper. It took me about 3 weeks to a month working on it every day, various hours each day to complete the painting. In regards to the viewers, it is my pleasure... And honestly it makes my day!! Thanks again so much!!

  • Another beautiful painting....you're just awesome!

  • @teasee2565

Hello teasee! I use CarbOthello pastel pencils combined with stick pastels. To sharpen the pencils I use the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener that I purchase at Office Max, pick up the guarentee is they offer it in your area it's a great deal. I use my finger for blending of the sticks and I use the pencils blending them together in a small circular motion. Just experiment, you'll get it!
