  • such an amazing movie and a great soundtrack (just like all of thee other coen bros movies)

  • Yah!

  • Beautiful music, amazing film, the Coen Bros are my heroes. Proud to be Norwegian and North Dakotan.

  • Beauriful song to show the horrible human nature

  • Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi were the best pair.

  • i'm fucking crying :(

  • 1:33 majesty

  • Fantastyczna muzyka, swietny film!

  • Epic

  • ya, This song is a traditional folk song from Norway. I'm proud to be Norwegian

  • Carter Burwell + The Coen Brothers= Total Epicness

  • @montypythonfanatic1 ...an...an...and if you opened a venue for them you could call it 'The Epicentre'!

  • perfect

  • mükemmel bir müzik.

  • This music is achingly beautiful, melancholy to fly on..definitely inspired in renaissance music: if you really like this track immediately look for Jordi Savall´s and Hesperion XX interpretation of La Mariagneta. You can find it in youtube. Enjoy.

  • Ya.

  • Theres something magical in this movie!

  • Ahhh muito muito bela!!

  • I'm cooperatin' here!

  • Hate people who are this talented. . they make me fucking sick

  • Best opening titles of all time.

  • there's more to life than a little money, ya know.

  • This music represents how it feels after a long winter here up north. I'm in Minnesota and sometimes you want to put someone in the wood chipper :-)) !

I like the longer version of this better. It's more haunting.....

  • @RocketGirlEleven11 there's a longer version? hit me up!

  • There is only like one significant song in that movie. It's been in my head for a week. That takes skill.

  • one of my favorite movie songs ever

  • "This is a good song."

    "In what way?'

"Oh, in a general sort of way."

  • its haunting...y do i feel a sensation in my body when i listen this song...?

  • Oh yah.

  • Burwell with the Coens go together like crackers with cheese.

  • jimmy > the English patient was a masterpiece, visually and dramatically and the soundtrack was just wow. one of the the few movies you could say was better than the book.

I agree on Requiem, but jeez, Fargo was a mess of a film, but thats the way the directors like it, and why we like it too.

  • @estd1759

The English Patient was good, yes......but not "Fargo" good. Mess of a film? Really? It was gritty, raw, unique and excellent with every aspect! Mess? Huh?

The Oscar should of went to Fargo....but who cares anyway...the Oscars are a joke.

  • @jimmypreble absolutely my friend. the oscars have always been a joke. not only did they do this to fargo, but to Pupl Fiction, 2001 a Space Odyssey, a Clockwork Orange, and many more. Maybe the most famous oscar screw up was when they gave the oscar to how green was my valley instead of Citizen Kane. I mean how many people even remember how green was my valley? lol

  • @hallowedbeeddie It's like when they gave the oscar to Ordinary People instead of Raging Bull ...

  • Just watched Fargo like 10 minutes ago and loved the song so I looked it up, it was a great movie

  • I don't understand how this movie was beaten by a movie about blue people that fuck with their hair.........

  • @Kingma1997 ummmm... it wasn't

  • @Kingma1997

Huh? This film lost out to "The English Patient"....which is a travesty! Fargo deserved it. I've long since given up on the "academy" for "picking" the rightful winners of film....it's a joke. Another example....Julia Roberts as "Erin Brockovich" beating Ellen Burstyn for her role as Sara Goldfarb in "Requiem For a Dream". I'm sorry but no. Ellen was robbed and the academy is a joke.

  • @jimmypreble, I agree. "The English Patient "was typical Oscar fodder. I couldn't stand it ( much like Elaine in "Seinfeld" ). On the other hand, "Fargo" was fresh, completely unique in every way. What makes it one of my all time favorite films is that it's virtues are almost indescribable. Did someone say Fargo was a mess of a film??? I guess it takes all kinds to people this planet.

  • @jimmypreble oh man. You would not believe the times I´ve said this. Ellen´s performance in requiem for a dream left me speechless. a true performance- the oscars are truly garbage most times. Ever since Roberts won over Burstyn I completely lost the last bit of hope I had in them. I mean Roberts was just being Roberts nothing spectacular. And Fargo much like citizen Kane and many other films will remain true classics unlike many oscar winners.

  • @Kingma1997

    They're not fucking, they're texting.

  • Dang it... now I want to watch the movie

  • @blablaidontcarewhour Watch it its one the best films ever made. The soundtrack fits the movie, but not in the way youd expect except at the end of the film.

  • @UbCappin Haha, no I've already seen it I just meant that the soundtrack is so great it gets me wanting to watch the film again.

  • Wow, Carter Bruwell did the music to Fargo??? Interesting.

  • Är det Hardangerfela eller nyckelharpa? Eller en vevlira som de spelar på? Eftersom det är en norsk folksång från början borde det väl vara Hardangerfelan.. Nån som vet?

  • How the hell did Fargo lose to the English Patient???!!!!

  • Check out "Host of Seraphim" by Dead Can Dance

  • this is surely evidence that music is one of the most powerful and influential parts to making a film work and make it a 'life changer' - i love it

  • Carter Burwell is definitely one of my favourite composers. He can make music for any mood, and its shown great in Fargo.

  • Anyone have the sheet music?

  • this song underrated. should've won an oscar.

  • @Mongofa Actually it won 2. Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress. But I think it deserved more.

  • @MandelbudetReturns yeah it should've won best picture caus eit is the best original american crime thriller movie there is, better than seven and zodiac or anythinfg else. i wish steve buscemi was nominated cause he was freaking awsome.

  • this is a Norwegian folk song called"den bortkomne sauen" (the lost sheep")

  • for some reason this score reminds me of some tom waits stuff from night on earth

  • I'm 68 years old and Fargo is arguably the best movie of all time. Everyone connected with this movie should have received an academy award.

  • there's a download link in the description, and it's 100% working

  • Does anyone have the track, I think is called, 'A Tale of Woe'? It's something 'woe'. I love that cue.

  • @PurushaDesa

It's called "A lot of Woe". Google that and you can listen to it on last fm (the website).

  • Does anyone know where I can find sheet music of this for the piano?

  • @pickupsomemilk Not sure. Can you learn by ear?

  • one of the greatest soundtracks for one of the greatest films

  • My favorite movie theme of all time. Fo sho.

  • you said it brother

  • awesome soundtrack, awesome movie. together pure perfection.

  • some similarities to beethovens symph. nr 7 opus 92 movmnt 2 "allegretto"?

  • @erdbeerbus Not a million miles away, certainly - but then haven't movie soundtrack composers always pilfered the classical canon, knowing that the majority of people who see the films and hear the soundtrack will not be aware of the classical work(s) that is being referenced so tacitly, or explicitly?...

  • Beautiful song! I wish we could have done this in Concert Band.

  • This is such beautiful music, and yes, Fargo was a perfect movie.

  • harika bi film coen kardeşlerin başyapıtı tam anlamıyla eğer bi gun work and travel yapma şansım olursa mutlaka kuzey amerika eyaleti olan dakotoya gitme sebebim=) cartel burwell yine dokturmus

  • great film

  • Comment removed

  • WOW

  • y am I obsessed with this song?

  • @brickbusterful you're not alone my friend

  • @brickbusterful : me, too.

  • i live in Fargo, North Dakota. too bad they didnt actually film it here.

  • First watched this film when I was 8, two years after it was released. Didn't much get it, but I thought it was funny at least. Watched it again at 15, and it became one of my favourite ever films, a position within my psyche that it still retains. The two things that get me every time are the cinematography and the music, not to mention the incredible characters, script and acting. For some reason this theme brings a tear to my eye.

A perfect movie, as Roger Ebert said about NCFOM.

  • Well said.

  • The Coen Brothers are true master craftsmen as film-makers. I can only stand back gob-smacked at the persistently high standard they maintain ... good job they're there.

  • favorite movie, big fan of carter burwell, coen bros, spike jonze, and pt anderson.

  • i like how they used basically the same song for the whole movie but just changed the tone for it throughout

  • one of my all time favorite films its in my top 5 ever since i watched it and this song is truly epic!!

  • one of the greatest black comedy ever made

  • one of the greatest films ever made

  • You Betcha.

  • If u hadnt already , people please watch this awesome movie.

  • Anybody else think that its a hardanger's fiddle playing the melody in this song?

  • It is, and very appropriate given all the Scandinavian names of the characters. AKA the Devil's Fiddle

  • amazing

  • by far Carter Burwell's best music piece it made the film from small to epic

  • The tragic power of this simple theme is truly awesome. Not sure why, but it reminds me of William Walton's signature theme for the Laurence Olivier "Hamlet" film of the late 40's. Powerful and beautiful, and I love how Burwell scores it both intimately, with a few strings, and epically with full orchestra and portentous percussion. Wonderful!

  • Awesome theme. If you like this music, please check out my vid of me playing this on 12 guitars.

    Thanks

  • That song is so beautiful!!

  • We stop at pancakes house!

  • we had pancakes for breakfast!

  • I'm fucking hungry now you know!

  • Okay we'll get pancakes then we'll get laid.

  • soundtrack konusunda kimse eline su dokemez bu abimizin in bruges muzikleride harikaydı yaptığı muzıkle filmler birbirini mukemmel bi sekilde tamamlamıs.

  • Music makes it even more legendary

  • fargo came out about a decade before ncfom, so they didnt compete against each other. were you retorting what i said or making a statement?

  • no it wasn't. fargo is a classic, no country not so much. besides there will be blood was the instant classic from 2007.

  • Fargo is easily the best Coen brothers film ever (far better than No Country for Old Men).

The English Patient won Best Picture in lieu of it in probably the worst decision the Academy has ever made.

  • Since when have the Academy ever championed an independent film over an epic?

  • can someone pleeeeease send me this song?

  • Probably the best song to go with a movie - ever.

  • wha the heck do you mean!!!

  • Ya!

  • This soundtrack and particualarly this song moves me almost to tears. I love it so much. Being that I'm a violnist, I just get so moved in orchestra music. : '(

  • man this soundtrack says so much, for me it says 'through all the doom and gloom, there can be hope' intense x

  • this tune is an old norwegian folk song called den bortkomne sauen (the lost sheep)

  • it was a good movie wen i first saw it a week ago but now that i'm listening to my fav film song of all time it is growing on me more and more and more...i might have to bump its status up to great! :-)

  • The heck do ya mean?

  • ITS NOT ON ITUNES, and i cant find this song ANYWHERE, Im so depressed. why is it nowhere? can anyone tell me where to get it?

  • Simply one of the best soundtracks. Fits the movie so well it's scary.

  • this movie is just one word, A PURE AMERICAN CLASSIC IN THE ART OF CINIMA AND ENTERTAINMENT SEREOUSLY IF U HAVENT SEEN THIS, WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPEICE BY THE COENS PLEASE I HOPE THEY MAKE ANOTHER ONE LIKE THIS AND NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

  • that is more than one word xD

ok... i'll see it, it sounds pretty good :D

  • It's veri inaccurate. Fargo is in North Dakota, and here in Minnesota, we don't sound like Canadians. Just to clear that up

  • Most of the movie takes place in Brainerd Minnesota though...

  • totaly hes like the best like the fucking music genious beast like theres no one that can do hiss job better

  • No they didn't.

  • well its a opinion haha....i like it cause it has more of a beat than this...i mean this original is fantastic and if it wasnt for this...sinergy wouldnt of made that song but i like it more cause its metal xD

  • one of my favorite movies and soundtracks

  • I haven't seen this movie, and this is the first time i've heard this song, and I agree with prayformojo1982 Carter Burwell IS a fucking genius.

  • LOVE the soundtrack! AMAZING movie!

  • Carter Burwell is a fucking genius

  • excellent movie and soundtrack.

go rent or buy it if youve not seen this classic movie.

  • Cartel Burwell is amazing

  • Does anybody know where can I find the original Norwegian song (The Lost Sheep) upon which this soundtrack is based?

  • One of the greatest movie themes ever.

  • so moving...

  • such a sad theme :-(

    love it!

  • i like the music from 2:15 to 2:20 it is so well crafted, this is why its number 4 on my greatest movies ever made and favorite movies ever made

  • whats your number 1,2 and three? one of them as to be philip glass, The Candyman

  • if anyone notices i left about 2 or 3 comments about this films score, thats how great it is, for me to leave so many comments each time i see it

  • amazing movie, and a super amazing score to go with it, it works perfectly with this masterpeice film :)

  • my favourite film-score ever.

gives me the chills everytime I hear it.

    fantastic!

  • the music is kind of slow. but anyway it suits the occasion

  • whenever i think about crime i think of this music

  • best movie ever made

  • I mean mood, not mode

  • This is the PERFECT mode song for this movie. It's the kinda song that makes u want to drink a bottle of whiskey alone and then shoot yourself in the face becuase u live in North Dakota. Especially the violin solo part. Hauntingly beautiful!

  • made me laugh out loud in the library

  • YES! Then my work here is done.

  • funny. It just makes me think of one hell of an Irish shindig

  • thats the most hilarious comment I've ever read!

  • well, then my work here is done

  • haha do you live in north Dakota?

  • no, but i have a friend from south dakota, plus it doesn't take much of an imagination to figure what life is like up there

  • Yeah, I'm from england and the only images we really see in the media of the US is like New York, California and the south. I didn't know you guys could have snow and dull lives

  • oh yeah, we've got that. That's just it, though. Most Americans don't know what its like in most other parts of their own country. If you put someone from NYC in N. Dakota he would think he's on another planet. Same thing if you took someone from the California Beaches & dropped them off in the middle of the corn feilds of Nebraska. Travelling from state-to-state in America is like travelling country-to-country in Europe, except more boring & u don't need a passport

  • Wow, I'd love to go to America and look forward to the day I do. It's seems like such an insanely huge place, that s what I guess is so brilliant about it. There's so much to it. I want to go to the rocky mountains first

  • dude, american sucks. Our econimical state is terrible, housing market is falling apart, our automakers will be dead within a short period of time. Not to mention Barack Obama isn't gonna do shit. Trust me, America isn't nothing like what the media portray's it to be.

  • No way, I thought Obama was gonna sort everything out? I guess what the media portrays us to be is different to the reality. I'm interested, whats the image you get in the states of england? that we all drink tea and drink port all day? haha, the media sucks

  • thats what i thought u do lol haha not really anyways is it like always rainy up there or do you actually get good weather? the shopping must be great ( or at least thats what im hearing lol) i live in the hottest place on the continental u.s. its called Arizona (aka my lil hell hole lol=))

england must be cool with its monarchy and such or it might suck=( anyways get back to me on that! lol its not really interesting here. except 4 me!!!! lol scratch that=)))) haha message me =) love Michelle

  • lol! yeah we get ok weather, now springs coming it's getting nice and sunny, although not so warm! But no doubt april will bring a few showers. No way...so you live in the hottest place in the US !? Arizona, ? so I take it you like 'Raising Arizona'?

I love the fact we have a monarchy, she doesn't have that much actual power, and it's pretty un-cool to say it- but yeah I like having the queen and the whole gig. lol. So what's your favourite thing about the US?, the Coen Bros lol xx Tommy

  • You got that right..

  • WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH FARGO'S SOUNDTRACK!?!?!? (Although I do agree)

  • Why would anyone "trust" your opinion when you can't even spell economical . Obama needs more than 100 days. have some faith, this isn't the great depression.

  • where is pancakes house?

  • We STOP at pancakes house!

  • Dude,is this Bella's official Lullaby?

  • Yesh It is

  • .. hold on is this THE song or is it another fer bellas song thing?

  • this is teh song in fargo

  • this is not the song for Bella...he is writing another song specifically for the movie so it really hasnt been released yet

    *i think*

  • He's really good at piano, don't get me wrong.

    But I think Yiruma's better :)

  • which song is bellas lullaby ???

  • they have not released it yet :(
