Hopefully they still sound this good now! I guess we'll find out at the Super Bowl...

u, my friend, are full of idiotic nonsense, or else u wouldn't have said such a thing about such an iconic and a legendary rock n roll tune!!!!!! so, go listen to the jonas bros and hannah montana, u'll probably like them more and in the meantime, please stop commenting on these great rock n roll videos, rock is not for u my friend and thank u for taking the time to read this!!!!!!
What is the purpose of singing a song about his generation? Why are they smashing up their musical instruments? All this silly music has done is create a gap between young and old, when there never was one before. Just stop and listen to the lyrics of all this crap before you just swallow it like all the rest of the lemmings do.
first of all, i've read the lyrics probably a million times because i'm a huge who fan and ur not, u probably like lyrics made by the jonas bros and miley fucking cyrus!!!!!! secondly, this is not crap, this is an oldie which rocks and the oldies are much better than what we have today, what we have today is not even music, it's crap, so, that is crap, my friend, rock music is about creating a gap, it's about going against the rules and about rebellion and agression!!!!!!
now, if u can't handle that, rock is not for u but that gives u no right to disrespect this kind of music, go listen to shitty music like some modern rap crap, fucking asshole!!!!!!
Why would people want to go against the rules of a law abiding country? Why do you need music to cause rebellion and aggression? All modern music has brought society is drugs, crime, suicide, juvenile delinquency and many other vices and ill.
i'm not talking about modern music, i'm talking about good classic rock music like this, i'm talking about the golden age of rock n roll, those were the good days where ppl had nothing but fun, sex, drugs and rock n roll was all about having fun, modern music is crappy!!!!!!
anyone with a sensible brain considers modern music that is popular today, u can't call elvis presley and chuck berry modern music and they would honestly hate to be a part of today's music because when they made music, music actually meant something, the jonas bros and hannah montana mean nothing but a load of bullshit and crap!!!!!!
listen to songs like long live rock which prove that rock n roll will never die no matter how much people appreciate crap like miley fucking cyrus and the jonas fucking bros!!!!!!
I've never heard of the two singers you mention. Smashing guitars on stage is childish and idiotic. Pushing drugs via rock music is not a good idea for any society.
u've never heard of elvis presley and chuck berry?????? were u born on earth or mars?????? holy shit, even the modern emo kinds who like shitty music have at least heard of these two legendary rockstars, do u come from a country where they don't listen to western rock at all because almost the whole world knows elvis, probably even africa knows him!!!!!!
u can't call legendary bands like this childish garbage, childish garbage are the jonas bros and hannah montana, so, u would even call legendary artists like elvis and chuck berry childish garbage, wouldn't u?
It's quite obvious this music is destructive ad idiotic. "I hope i die before i get old?" Now why would anyone want to do that? People like you don't take time to just sit back and examine this meaningless garbage. And what's the purpose of smashing their musical instrument?
dude if i had a shitload of money i would buy a bunch of guitars and break the fucking wall with them it would be so fucking fun but since im not rich im not riskin my guitars for that
It depends on who do you ask. According to Pete Townshend, (the guitarist) he was inspired by Gustav Metzger's concept of Auto-Destructive Art and Roger Daltrey (the vocalist) says it was all about attracting attention.
maqn its not childish tey just did that becouse they were ain a middle of a world war aproching becouse of the sovietic union vs eua in the middle of this crissys theyd brake theire instruments as a form of crtissizing war ad opression, its like a stiffled scream of freedom
Well childish or not its still a art theory. Although to be fair I doubt any modern bands that do it today are referencing Gustav Metzger, just trying to look cool.
try to appreciate the good ol' days of rock n roll instead of hating it, sad thing it's not mainstream anymore, today's mainstream music sucks ass!!!!!!! seriously miley cyrus should consider jumping off the eiffel tower to do us all a favor!!!!!! BRING BACK THE GOOD OL', CLASSIC, GOLDEN AND LEGENDARY DAYS OF ROCK N ROLL AND ROCK ON PEOPLE!!!!!!
i totally agree with u, in the woodstock performance, they hardly show john, focusing a lot on the other 3 members, at the monterey pop festival, even during john's bass solo in my generation, the camera focuses on keith moon getting his sleeves up and getting ready to drum, and i was like, come on, gimme a fucking break!!!!!! but, in the 70's, they started showing john a little more, especially during the videos of baba o' riley and won't get fooled again
in the amsterdam performance of my generation, the camera actually focused on john during his bass solo and i was like finally, they did something right and i guess, the reason for that is camera work was really bad in the 60's and it started to get better in the 70's, because from 70's onward until his death in 2002, they showed him a lot more often than they did in the 60's
well, i think i heard from someone once that john chose not to be filmed for a specific performance, and i don't know if that applies to all the performances that avoided him
the who started in the early 60's during the british invasion period, they were formed in 1964, however they released some of their best work both in the 60's and 70's, this song itself is from 1965

Agreed. I'm 13, ok. Gaga, or whatever her name is... she can go to hell! Nothing will ever beat the who,led zeppelin ,kiss, and David Bowie put together!
Re: Dimmo Borgirs....yes, it's good, but mostly theatre. Nothing wrong with that. (Coop did it, too.) But the test is when you close your eyes. Does it still hold up? Yes, I wanna breathe in the orchestrals! The voice gets monotonous, though, imho.

I agree that this is a great song by The Who... But epic?!? When I think of epic I think of certain songs performed by full orchestras. If you want epic, try "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" by Dimmu Borgir... They are an extreme metal band from Norway that had its roots in the Satanic Norwegian Black Metal underground but their later stuff is less like traditional Black Metal and is more epic and classically influenced.Even non-black metal fans realize that Dimmu Borgir are master composers.
It's epic in it's flamboyance and flat out assault on the ears. It's like an orchestra of chaos which the Who always were at least when they had Moonie. It's also held up well over the last 43 years to boot. Now that's epic!
Yeah I know, I just think certain elements of Dimmu Borgirs music is amazing... The composing of "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" by Mustis is a remarkable acomplishment...
that sounds a bit out of my league as far as music appreciation goes. although i go pretty far across the board. I mean there's epic in terms of Miles Davis and then there's epic in terms of the Beatles. Classical music is still a bit out of my reach so i can't really critique it as such.
um what. this is classic. green da is like my favorite band and i have everyone of there albums except for the new on that comes out sometime this month
good job. i always thought this band had a unique sense of music. blowing stuff up. sweet. i love how keith moon in another video on smothers brothers comedy hour blows up his bass drum. mad pete 90% def in one of his ears
I wonder how much all of the vintage double bass sets and amps and guitars that they wasted were worth! haha long live the most revolutionary band of all time.
When I was growing up in the 60's there was no band, anywhere, that could touch The Who. They were simply awesome and their songs have stood the test of time among the crap that passes for 'rock' these days.
hey man, the who is awesome, but you're forgetting aout the beatles. i'd say that they were probably even better than the who. but you are right about their music standing the test of time. everything that comes out nowadays is crap.
the beatles were good but neither were better in the beggining the beatles were more of a boy band than a rock band the rock didnt really start till later i like both kinds of beatles but the who were always the rock and some consider them the first of punk rock they were both decades ahead of their time and todays music is horrible im 15 and im enjoying music from decades ago, what does that say about it? some kids cant even remember what was popular a month ago, disgusting really.
Entwistle is fing amazing on this. nobody else can play that as good, I swear. aw, keith moon. we need people as crazy and brilliant and crazy brilliant as you.

When I was growing up in the 60's there was no band, anywhere, that could touch The Who. They were simply awesome and their songs have stood the test of time among the crap that passes for 'rock' these days.

Right on man!!! I fucking hear you!! todays music just sucks whale balls!
classicrockhead1969 3 years ago
agreed, older music had class, todays music the musicians just do it for the fame and money and girls
marksman1416 3 years ago 6
hey man, the who is awesome, but you're forgetting aout the beatles. i'd say that they were probably even better than the who. but you are right about their music standing the test of time. everything that comes out nowadays is crap.

the beatles were good but neither were better in the beggining the beatles were more of a boy band than a rock band the rock didnt really start till later i like both kinds of beatles but the who were always the rock and some consider them the first of punk rock they were both decades ahead of their time and todays music is horrible im 15 and im enjoying music from decades ago, what does that say about it? some kids cant even remember what was popular a month ago, disgusting really.
