  • How much of a tutorial do you guys friggin' need? This is pretty much it. Jump and wait till you're high as possible, tuck as hard as possible, don't worry about throwing your head back as long as you jump straight up, then grab your knees and release once you're over.

    It's instinct from there. Just go out and do it safely!

  • @CapitanAlien my friend, this is a tutorial. its very helpful too, there is nothing he could show better and nothing he could ad. If that is not enough for you, you shouldn`t try doing a backflip.

  • It's a good back flip, but if you're in your living room trying to do it it won't be that easy. It should give you some safety tips at least!!

  • It's the same actually ...... but it depends how you define back flip. In the U.K., back handspring is known as a back flip. In the U.S., back flip can mean back tuck or a layout.

    Watch how he hangs, or "sets" in the air. Then, when his knees comes to his chin, he rotates very quickly.

  • well i'm a freerunner and thats a backflip in fact i call anything going backwards where your feet go over your head a backflip there are just different variations

  • pull arms behind you and crouch cause you'll need the swing if your really weak, swing arms up and jump as high as possible while keeping body straight, but really arch back cause your lower abs are weak and you have a bad set, tuck real tight and do a tuck jump to your back cause he forgot to tell you to pull your knees to your chest and use your hips to rotate, grabbing on your shins to pull in tighter unlike poster who grabs under thighs.. UGH!!! cheerleaders...

  • ;like u can rotate faster but it depends on 1. how u takeoff and 2 when u grab. grabbing once your back further pull your momentum around faster than say u jump and are still upright and go for it.

  • no u dont necessaily land directly where u started n ur suppose to grab ur ur calves not the back of ur thighs in the tuck n its not good to crouch so keep ur chest up!

  • well it really depends... punch front requires you to really punch the floor from your run. the more you punch the more you get, therefor your tuck will be higher it you punch hard. i think that back tucks from a round off is easier than from a standing position because you get all that momentum and all you have to do is just set and go...

  • I've never tried this, but is it dangerous if we fail to flip and land in the middle, it could be serious. Maybe I should train how to flip fast first to the pool. Haha...

  • the pool wont do anything for u all u need is a spotter and if ur still scared practice in sand at the park with ur spotter

  • @xXFyreNightXx at least is the basic knowledge of what you're supposed to do so you don't just throw yourself back and land on your neck. It gives you your stance before the jump, how you're supposed to tuck and then how you need to spot. The rest is just practice for you

  • No they're not easier or safer, they just seem it because backtucks are scarier. Trust me, backtucks are much easier. What most people call a front flip is just a damaging forwards flop until it's refined into a good flip. With Backtucks, it's pretty standard.

  • well i advise trying it off a small ledge into something soft (sand) and then just slowly getting lower until you are ready to try it on flat

  • yes he leaned back, but he didnt tuck in, that gives him the possibility to get his height and not losing rotation speed,

    if you jump straight up, you can't rotate that fast i nyour highest position

  • wait till your feet are just off the ground before looking back to flip...what your doing must be eliminating your hight

  • lol speaking as someone who judges fairly often i can tell you that, even though it's not quite as important as gymnastics, form is still very important in cheerleading. if two squads have full squad standing backs but one has pretty standing backs and the other is taking steps and feet apart, i'm going to give the other squad a MUCH higher score.
