  • What about a posterior tear?

  • Thanks for posting. There is very little quality rehab information for post-surgical SLAP patients.

  • Thank you Dr Kahl very useful information!

  • I tore my labrum doing the butterfly swim stroke. I had surgery about 2 months after the injury. About 5 months after the surgery i dislocated my shoulder again playing lacrosse. What can I do to reduce the likely hood of another dislocation?

  • get the surgery, i got it and now im going through pt, its deffinantly worth it in the long run, they get you right back into shape

  • The Doctor said the anchors last 5 years in my arm and the metal suture's even longer. I just dont want to take the time off work and the light duty and the getting out of shape again due to surgery. Just asking for any advise or ways to help the healing process (strength traing etc.). Thank you for your time.

  • ok. So I had Orthoscopic surgery on my SLAP tear a little over a year ago. I was doing good and still continued to baby it. I was playing in a vball tourny and went for an over hand serve. I then felt my shoulder come out a little of the socket and felt like a wet crunching along with the sounds of that. Do you think it tore again or just slipped out. It is super sore today and painful in some movements. but i have full range of movement.

  • I'm taking notes---Thanks!

  • if you do tear alittle of ur labrium is it that much pain? Bc I don't know if I did or not? Also can I have maybe just have pulled something around there in the same area ur talking about? And also how do doctors don't know if you have a server tear .. How is the pain? Kfox 11 years you lived with one huh how? Thanks for the video

  • Hi dr.I have had 3 dislocations due to labram tear.I did 2 months proper therapy and still dislocation occurs. Can labram be torn to point only surgery can fix it? My doctor says they do heal however usually fibers are loosely connected. I am 25 yrs old and have history of fracture but healed clavicle. My huge problem tho is my back or scapula is so weAk on one side even tho I work it out a lot. Is this normal. In your experience are surgerys sucessful. Thanks

  • I was diagnosed with a labrum tear in my left shoulder about a year ago, and went untreated, no surgeries or therapy, playing football today today I reinjured myself to the point where I can't even raise my left hand above my head. Is there any treatment for this without surgery, because at this point I don't think it's going to go away. Any recommendations on what I should do?

  • @gavowavo Surgery is the only fix for a Labral tear. I just had surgery for a tear that happened 11 years ago. I had 3 MRI's 2 with contrast and they didnt show any problems. It wasnt untill the Doc went in that he did find that I had a server tear and repaired it. My recomendation is press for the surgery and get it over with. DONT WAIT like I did cause it wont get better on it own.

  • Thanks for the info.

I was diagnosed with a slight labral tear in my left shoulder. I get a pop when I do

traditional lat raises, when I do front raises with fist vertical (like I'm holding an ice cream cone) and especially when I will raise my arm and my shoulder is going towards 10 O'Clock (imagine a clock). I know it's hard to determine w/o seeing it, but any advice for exercises? My PT suggested several, but they don't seem to be working? Please help.

  • Unfortunately these exercises will not work with a weight. The angle of force will be wrong and will not be effective. A pulley machine would work. Good luck with the upcoming season.

  • @waterandsports My doc told me I only had some slight fraying from wear and tear. He said it wasn't worth doing arthoscopy. But my shoulder hurts real bad sometimes in the blade and trap area, even with proper warm up and stretching. I usualy follow the guidelines you mentioned in the video. I usually dont extend my elbows past the axis of my body to avoid hyperextension. Still may have to have surgery eventually.

  • Thanks for the video,

I recently just finished physical therapy after my very serious injury. All seems well and I hope that it can be strong enough for freshman basketball since I had to miss football. I have a quick question, can I use weights in place of the band?
