Dude, I gotta say, even though you haven't played MH for a long time now, This is the Best Strategy I've ever seen yet. Me and my friends have OWNED him 2-3 times, and we just STARTED. i used narga hammer but ran out of healing potions :( i had 10 potions, 10 mega potions and 2 max potions but still died three times. i dont have shitty armor. i have full high tigrex. please PM me some safety tips :)

Why do you have low armor like chrome metal or ceanataur? Haven't you obtain high damage?

Is this possible with the "Basarios Bash" hammer? (not the G version) it has 1040 attack, but i have the skill attack up Large, and a powercharm, AND a powertalon. I like this hammer because it gives your defense a 36 boost!

My problem is the damn gravios brainstems. I've hit hunter rank 9 without getting my full set of aka armour because of it. I've only just made 4 pieces, and I need another 4 brainstems till I can make the chest.

needless to say it's much easier to kill akantor with G-rank kut-ku armour, sharpness+1 and reckless abandon+3. The damage you take from nekoht akantor is pretty pitiful compared to what it was back then at Hr6 X_X

@LEGOCommanderCustom yes you can get it from the felyne elder one, so you should be able to get it from the guild hall as well. I've found that just by breaking his head and forearms with a hammer I seem to break off his top spines which I could never seem to do with a longsword for some reason. always nice to get 3 akantor spikes/fangs for one kill.

The juggernaut is also an excellent akantor beater. The only trick to beating him is patience and cool drinks.

@ReptileJam it's not a good option since there are many better hammers than it but it probably is doable however you should be aiming for narga hammer since that is the best high rank hammer for all monsters.

I... do not enjoy... fighting Akantor. I've been trying to kill him so many times with different weapons -.- My MH "assistant" has effectively quit for Monster Hunter TRI, so im stuck with solo >.> anyways, i have Hidden Breaker, and full ceantaur s upgraded to 79 def a piece, armour/power talons, huge ascarnal of items but i still cant do it 0_o it seems that when i try to go to his left im always trapped, or i have to go under him... any ideas...? and those damn lava spurts... annoying...

Hehe, I used Hornetaur and Ceanataur armor with blos chaos broker. As long as you don't touch the lava they're actually pretty good sets :D Don't like your hammer though..lol. Great video though!

if you find yourself lacking offensive power, i reccomend using monodevil U armor (white monoblos high rank) armor - it has expert, artisan, and potential - it can be gemmed for +2 in any 1 of these 3 skills making it friggin amazing - +20% crit, +2 sharpness, or +2 adrenaline while retaining +1 in whichever ones you didnt gem for

you dont even need the full U version of it, as the low rank monodevil stuff has same stats basically

easiest white monoblos is "operation desert winds" from nekoht

The charges throughout the battle (not the first one) is turning into more of a problem then I would have thought, seeing as there are very little space blocked off by lava. and when I superman jump (even when I'm at his right side) his leg gets me a does a ton of damage.

I did this with a hammer also. I was using the Blacksmith at the time. (It's a good hammer with no attribute)

I have a question, does the charged pound do more damage than the triple pound? (if you press O before triple pound you can make it a 4x combo. When he falls over you can do this twice just like triple pound)

that's part of the game - if you listen and look carefully while playing, it will make a spurting noise and a splash of blood will appear when you hit a part of a monster that is weakest - youre doing maximum damage while hitting these parts

when you hit a very low damage area, a small dark-grey flash and a weak little slash sound happens

its a nice guide but akantor is a bitch, it doesnt even give me alot of space because he goes to a place with lava like 2 cm from each other and he even hits me with it charge even if i stay left from him... i freaking hate akantor he is a pain in the ass :(

@LeafRenamon Well for the charge going left gives you more time but it seems to me to be like the tigrex in two ways and that if you go right his claw actually passes over top of you leaving you untouched.

@Kalebbrantleach there are a number of one-hit-kill moves in the game, you'll find them in the higher rank monster, 6 stars onwards. (e.g. some congalala rage moves) these moves will kill you even with full maximum hp and the armour with the highest damage resistance points, or god mode activated. There are 2 ways to avoid, find an armour with survival skill, you will end up with very little hp that a vespoid can kill you in one fly through instead of dying straight away or learn to dodge it.

@Xela737373 Grats Xela. :) For Rajang, I would suggest using a Greatsword. Kirins are best tackled with a Heavy BowGun. I'll send you links for both videos via PM.
