If there was a "Straightman" character to bounce the joke off of like in the old Carol Burnett Show (or any great comedy show for that matter) then it would probably be funnier to me. i think the humor is in the character, not the message he sends.. he is just being honest. the problem is the world isn't ready to handle truth. social norms force people to tell white lies and sugar-coat half-truths because society is too immature to have the humility to admit the reality of things. the noblest people are the ones who can be truthful AND sensitive, like this character. not only is he not being facetious, he is offering helpful advice.
