Sorry my friend, but Tolkein was a big time Christian...very devout. LOTR/Silmarilion/Hobbit , etc is a mythological narrative of the earth. The God in his stories is supposed to be the Christian God. Tolkein has stated this himself. Sorry, but you can deny it, but the truth is the truth.
what's bullshit about it. It's true. Read your history...read his biography. He makes no qualms or hides the fact that he is a big time Christian (he converted C.S. Lewis into Christianity).

you're fucking retarded wdonica. If Jesus had any job, it would be a preacher of God's word. His father joseph was the carpenter. Go to church and learn your bible history dumbass!
"Where did this man get these things?" they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! 3Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.
Jesus wasn't a full time preacher until he was in his 30's. Children of that time learned their father's trade therefore Jesus was a carpenter for some time before he started preaching. LOTR is actually one of those films that I never get sick of watching...and it's soundtrack is just superb! I can't wait for another Tolkien's book converted into a glorious film like these.
Emiliana Torrini does such a wonderful job with this piece. I have this on a playlist I use just for driving in-land. Everyone should check out her cover of "Sound of Silence".
Same! Well, not the manly bit but when Sam just sat down halfway up the mountain and cried, I almost drowned my popcorn in tears! (And I swear that my coke had about 50% extra salt in by the end)
no, no, precious doesn't apologize, we apologize to precious, but the fat Hobbit's always watching! And what he did to the rabbits was un-forgivable.... my precious....
i used to have nightmares where i would creep around through tunnels and stuff...and then he would see me and come chasing after me....and his big eyes would look at me....evil
Poor Gollum, I feel so sorry for him. It's one thing hating someone because of their personalities but you gotta understand WHY they are like it. And Gollum is living proof that hate goes deeper than you'd think
I've only done that with a few movies. One that I can think of is actually the beginning song to the new James Bond (or newest at least), Casino Royale, which is 'You know my name'. I can't think of anything else.

Being born into a certain family really has nothing to do with it. You can be born in a Godly family and still be in a mentally dark self-hating pit like Gollum.
So in the end I'll be—what I will be No loyal friend Was ever there for me Now we say—goodbye We say—you didn't try... These tears you cry Have come too late Take back the lies The hurt, the blame! And you will weep When you face the end alone You are lost! You can never go home You are lost! You can never go home
Where once was light Now darkness falls Where once was love Love is no more Don't say—goodbye Don't say—I didn't try These tears we cry Are falling rain For all the lies you told us The hurt, the blame! And we will weep to be so alone We are lost We can never go home
He also mentions somewhere about one the trilogy's strengths being applicability. Two different people can take two very different, very meaningful messages from them. I think that's one of the reasons they're so popular in so many countries/cultures. You can see the ring as nuclear weaponry or maybe it's the idea of everyone forced to live one way or the natural fear we have of different things.

One very obvious allegorical element is this: Minas Tirith, or the "white city" represents Belgrade in Serbia, which also means "white city". They both were the first line of defense against the hordes from the East. And, of course what city was bombed back to the Stone Age by Bill Clinton at the behest of his zionist masters? You guessed it.
The movies do very great justice. Of course it is such an expansive book that some parts have to be left out or altered, but it definitely does justice, and stays true to the books quite well.
You can interpret the elements of the book in whatever manner you'd like, but Tolkien didn't intend it to be that way - in fact, most elements in the book are from his own experiences, especially WWI experiences. PM me if you would like me to elaborate on that, for the sake of post count I won't right now.
So, interpret it however you want, but don't try to prove each other wrong by saying what it is or isn't. Tolkien meant it to be a book that all can enjoy, but necessarily not an allegory.
Before I go on, know that I am a devote Christian and believer in God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord of the Rings was never intended to be an allegory. I love LOTR, and I have for many years. Not meaning to seem boastful, I know a LOT about the story and the author. (Movies as well, but they're not the subject right now)
Tolkien said himself, he never intended the story to be an allegory, (a fictional story where elements represent Christian beliefs and themes.)
As a christian myself and a huge fan of LOTR films (although i really need to read the books!) I feel when you have a good story you cant help but for it to somehow line up with the word of God. Great ideas come from him. God put that story in Tolkien whether he realizes it or not. Tolkien's intentions may not have been for it to represent Christian Beliefs and Themes but funny how viewers can realate the two.
Yes, I know what you mean, and that's one of the points I was trying to say. Even though Tolkien never meant it to be truly an allegory, it can be associated with Christianity. That's something I like about it. Tolkien gave us room to think of elements of the story however we like, even though in truth, most elements were from his own experiences, and just his own brilliance.
Ok what-ev, thats ur opinion. If I have as much power as to "disgust you" Then hey, Im lovin it, I have this kind of power b/c of GOD. HE rules all and in the end those who have been blind to his existence will see the truth and ask for forgiveness.
interesting, did you ever read his autobiography? He says that he didn't come up with that all himself, he said it was always there already, he only was the one supposed to write it down for us to see, read.
btw, no need to jump onto other people's throat just cause you don't agree wit something.
Why can't people acknowledge that they have accomplished something themselves? Does it have to be divine inspiration just because it's a good story? He surely thought what he wrote, because that's what he was told as a child, what he had been raised to believe. That all good things come from God.
If he had been born in a muslim family, it would have been from Allah.
If he had been born in an hindu family, it would have been from Shiva(or something).
doesn't come from a deity. It comes from inside, from the person itself. God is you, you are God. The power people draw from God, is actually from themselves. God is just an argument, the idea that you cannot posess so much power yourself, that it has to come from someone else. That all humans can't have equal power. That's what's wrong. That's what i dislike. That people divide among themselves, mistaking this power for something supernatural, explaining it with great Deities and stories, all
wow, the languages r unbelievable, hundreds written yet many left unfinished before the man died. R.I.P to a new world inside itself, created by 1 man who knew more than life itself, enough to creat another world..
I heard some people talking about religion and whether its real or not...I think, I didn't get the whole thing down ^^;
Me as being a Christian I believe it's true, but people who have a different religion or don't believe in God doesn't make them a horrible person from hell, respect other people's religions, just because they don't believe in what you do doesn't make them stupid. *shrugs* That's just the way I see it at least.
The ring is what it is. we can interpit it how ever we want and that is not a bad thing. To me the ring is power in its purest form. every one seeks it and to those that take it for them self or even to use for others will be corrupted by it. It is the mind set that you know better then your fellow man and because you have the power you impose your will on others. Tolkien was an officer and a soldier he knew what power could do to a man, it started 2 world wars.
the saddest song i ever listen.

Do you get what i mean :) hope so !!
MissSofa 3 years ago
Yes, I know what you mean, and that's one of the points I was trying to say. Even though Tolkien never meant it to be truly an allegory, it can be associated with Christianity. That's something I like about it. Tolkien gave us room to think of elements of the story however we like, even though in truth, most elements were from his own experiences, and just his own brilliance.

You disgust me. Tolkien created Lord of the Rings. Not God. I don't see God described as the author.
"God put that story in Tolkien whether he realizes it or not."
That is so ignorant.

Fine.
But the truth is, the inspiration

I call it humility.

doesn't come from a deity. It comes from inside, from the person itself. God is you, you are God. The power people draw from God, is actually from themselves. God is just an argument, the idea that you cannot posess so much power yourself, that it has to come from someone else. That all humans can't have equal power. That's what's wrong. That's what i dislike. That people divide among themselves, mistaking this power for something supernatural, explaining it with great Deities and stories, all
Stealthsuit07 3 years ago
the search for what is right. But the answer is inside. Why do you deny it?
Stealthsuit07 3 years ago
wow, the languages r unbelievable, hundreds written yet many left unfinished before the man died. R.I.P to a new world inside itself, created by 1 man who knew more than life itself, enough to creat another world..

Great song, great video! :)
I heard some people talking about religion and whether its real or not...I think, I didn't get the whole thing down ^^;
Me as being a Christian I believe it's true, but people who have a different religion or don't believe in God doesn't make them a horrible person from hell, respect other people's religions, just because they don't believe in what you do doesn't make them stupid.

Saying there is no God is ignorant. Following him blindly is naive. Best to stay neutral.
