  • 3:09 Hey, that's still id software's phone number too.

  • why the fuck would you open that if you have another copy

  • @YOJONON I wouldn't. But I didn't have another copy...

  • I love dos.. Because it's impossible to use. HAH :D

  • @phreakindee i checked the website and they were out of copies fro wolfenstein 3d. i subbed plz sub back

  • all i remember of wolfenstein 3d was how huge the castle was

  • lol yep i remember getting that game in 1993. It had the shareware of Doom still have the floppies somewhere. I have the official hint guide of Wolf3D on the shelf came in handy.

  • 15 dollars!?!?!?!?! You lucky bastard!

  • AAAGHH!! DON'T OPEN THEM! YOU'LL DEVALUE THEM!

    D'ohhh! :)

  • @Foebane72 Value is all in the eye of the beholder. And in my eye, value comes from playing and enjoying the games, not leaving them in a cellophane prison for eternity :D

  • @phreakindee I have the same demeanor with high end PC gaming fans. I took two Thermaltake ThunderBlade fans, cut off the connectors, and now they are taped to a small cardboard box, being run off of two toggle switches, with their own respective nine-volt-battery. It's fun to ruin something that could have been put to it's normal use.

  • @rockerzac99 This meaning that I put things to my own normal use, like you not dooming DOOM and Wolf3D to a cardboard cell

  • @phreakindee aggreed comletely

  • 5:04 The swastika map :D

  • Congratulations, it must be very rare to find such games in complete package, that wont cost you a fortune

  • Those are not flopies. They're hard drives.

  • @MrOcelot9 I hope you're joking...

  • @phreakindee I just heard that from a video called technology.Strong Bad was saying it.

  • @phreakindee he's Not!

  • @MrOcelot9 Unknowing kid who is mad because little mary blew him off at lunch?

  • @MrOcelot9 What is a floppy then? A CD-ROM?

  • @rockerzac99 Search floppy disk in Google Images.A big disk with a hole should show up.

  • @MrOcelot9 Okay, lets straighten things out.

You are probobly thinking about the 5 1/4" floppies. You are right there. But there is a second kind. What you think is a hard drive is a 3 1/2" floppy. There are more, but those are older, and uncommon. An example is the 8" floppy, which is huge. You will see several different sizes and types. There is no one floppy. Don't say something unless you know what you are talking about.

  • @MrOcelot9 watch?v=D_2WT26EU58

  • if i were to buy those like you had would i be able to play and install them via DOSBox? or would i have to dig up an old comp to play them on?

  • @tuRtLemAn064 DOSBox will work just fine, so long as you have a 3.5" drive to read the floppies with.

  • @phreakindee cool beans =D

  • their was a remastered version called Doom Collector's Edition in 2002.

it has Doom 1, Doom 2, and Final Doom

which was for Windows 95,98,2000,Millenium,and XP

now also works on Vista and 7.

  • I am so loquacious and yet so limited in comments, so sorry I'm posting 2. Great find, I too miss these old style boxes - plus I love the art. ID, LucasArts, Sierra and a few more had great box art in the day, often boxart nowadays is so generic. I love the artwork for Doom 1 & 2, got a huge Ultimate Doom poster on me wall. I'm curious, do you have any other cool id goods? I collect anything ID, and just recently found a mint, sealed "ID Anthology" for only 20 bucks, which is incredible :O

  • @ModernDoomer89 I wish I had more id Software stuff, but being as rare as some of it is I only have a few other items of note. I too have the id Anthology (rather, just the Book of id with the CDs), lots of "retail" shareware versions of their games, many of the original Softdisk and Gamers Edge floppy releases of their older titles (like Catacombs Abyss, Apocalypse, Armageddon) the Commander Keen CD-ROM collection, and course the normal boxed retail games like the Quake series and Doom II.

  • @phreakindee I love having the original Softdisk releases, gotta thank my mum for that - and for getting me into gaming. =) Probably the oddest bit of ID Merch I have may not even be official, but it is... interesting. Heard of the Doom novels? Well there is one that was published here in Japan. While not as insane as the sequels to the first American one, it does have a scene where "Gunjin" (Generic for "Soldier") dines upon an imp and then melts zombies with a fireball belch. Seriously.

  • @phreakindee Ever manage to find Catacomb I, II, 3-D or Hovertank 3D?

  • The Hint-manual is actually pretty rare. I saw a huge demand for a scan on some wolf3D sites I frequented in the day and was going to scan up mine but it vanished =( I mail ordered mine and although I have a boxed Wolf 3D, it's a different release and doesn't have it. The mail order version of the hint-manual is actually even more rare and has a different cover. I wish I still had it, I have so much ID stuff it's stupid - even got me mum's original softdisk/Gamers Edge sets.

  • @phreakindee Was there a version of wolf3d where the floppies were white? Please respond.

  • @stupidvid5229 Yes! This same version I have here sometimes came with white floppy disks. I think the colors just varied by whatever happened to be cheapest at the factory at the time.

  • @phreakindee Thanks love your videos! >:D

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my fucking Lemmy I wanna come to your house and just play games for at least 5 years straight!

  • You convinced me to get a mint edition of The Ultimate Quake.

    The Ultimate Quake includes...

    Quake 1

    Quake 2

    and Quake 3

  • What the eff website did you manage to find these at?

  • @superkyol It's called "Knight Discounts"

  • Behold!!!!!! The floppies of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! >:D

  • How they managed to fit Shareware DooM on just 2 floppies? I remember it was like 9 Megs in size (correct me if I'm wrong)...

    Anyway awesome :)

It's funny how much stuff was supplied with old games... I still have Longbow 2 from 1997, and besides usual stuff (2 CD's, box and registration card) it has installation guide, multiplayer guide, keyboard layout sheet and whole damn book on how to play the game and fly a helicopter and shoot stuff :D

  • DOOM and Wolfinstein 3D are now on iPod/iPhone

    Yay?!

  • @sadmegatron2300 screw that. Much better on a computer.

  • do you regularly collect pc big box games? they look awesome, i might start collecting them

  • Greate games! i play now in Doom 3 ;-)

  • I've asked at least 50 people when I was in eigth grade if they had heard about or played these games. About 35 of them said no. That's just...sad.

  • Doom 2 was full size box i remember getting it for my 13th bday back in 95 my dad paid over 50$ for it back then ahhh those were the days

  • @SplatterdaySaints I'm getting The Ultimate Quake! Just to relive the memories! :D

  • GREAT!!! we all cry xD

i ask some one have the box od hovertank 3D? xD

  • ULTRA AWESOME! Unboxing this games is like discovering Tutankhamen`s tomb!

  • I WANT..............

  • "I love DOS. Because it's imposible to use!"

  • I cry everytime someone cracks open one of those old game boxes, there's no reason to, everything can be found online so why destroy history? ^__^

  • @DusteDdekay Can you download a box, manual and real floppies? No. It's like downloading a recipe to me. Sure, you have the contents. But it's 100% different than having the real thing in all its glory.

Destroying history? ENJOYING history is how I see it. I'm not tossing into a trash compactor, I'm using it how it was meant to be used and having fun. Life's too short to worry about the integrity of cellophane and cardboard sitting on a shelf.

  • @DusteDdekay

Life is way too short to worry about such non-sense. There's a difference between a hobbyist and a collector. Clint is more of a hobbyist meaning he collects but also ENJOYS what he purchased... a.k.a he buys / receives, opens, plays and enjoys his "treasure".

A Collector however does just that, they collect the game but leave it sealed just to collect dirt, dust, skin particles, etc until the day they die, and get no enjoyment out of it other than bragging rights.

  • Hey i dont know much about wolfenstein just wondering did doom copy wolfenstein or the other way around or are they both made by the same peeps?

  • @razor197 They actually were made by the same developer, id Software.

Wolfenstein 3D came out first, then Doom.

  • @ToastmachineIdiot Wolfenstein 3D is also the first, first person shooter...I gots it on SNES complete, like new! If it wasn't for this, COD crap wouldn't be what it is today, or any of the FPS...Respect the Wolfenstein!

  • @badazzboxer There actually were a couple of FPS's that came before Wolfenstein. Maze War seems to be the earliest (it was made in 1974). However, Wolfenstein 3D was the first FPS to make it big. It defined the genre, and Doom helped define it even more! Both Wolfenstein 3D and Doom are epic classics!

  • @ToastmachineIdiot Actually you don't shoot, so its actually a FP, for the maze war game. Wolfenstein is a shooter, so come on and agree, its the FIRST FPS!!! XD and yes, both legendary classics!

  • @badazzboxer You do actually "shoot" your opponent when you find him, but yes, it was more of a maze game than a full-on shooter. I also just remembered id Software also made Hovertank 3D in 1991, one year before Wolfenstein 3D. In that game, you do shoot some baddies here and there and pick up some good guys, you're just doing it in a "tank." I agree that it was the ultimate FPS that defined the genre before Doom, though.

  • @ToastmachineIdiot Ahhhhh, very interesting, thanks! Yes, I guess everything basically "evolves" than, just being what it is, such as music, to automobiles, to just, who started the first wave at sporting events! Amazing on how some trends just blow up, and progress, and evolve into greatness...Except not Justin.Bieber!

  • Wow... I found this video a long time ago... Then about 1-2 years later subscribed to you... THEN watched it today and never noticed it was you... Lol.

  • There were a few games I have that came in that 'Duel' package. Those were namely Lego Racers and Lego Rock Radiers. Also Midtown Madness 2 and Motorcross Madness 2. Amazing!

  • Wolfenstein 3D cover failed. they didnt have M16's during World war 2

  • @TheNorweagian I'm pretty sure there wasn't a cyborg Hitler with chaingun arms during WW2 either... Wolfenstein 3D wasn't exactly about realism :D

  • @phreakindee haha i forget about Hitler Cyborg, HItler Ghosts and Grosse xD haha dumb me xD Hehe, its an Awesome 3D game anyway :D i still have it :P

  • @phreakindee

or nice roast dinners laying around in their prisons.

  • @phreakindee I think it´s cover is still rather bad ;)

  • My God that box is so beautiful. I still have my old Shareware Doom somewhere on a floppy.

  • God, I feel soooo bad you had to open this treasure. I wish you had another already opened to show the guts. Any ways, what a special moment, an "opening day" classic!

  • : D

  • I love those games!! I wish I had those boxes!!! I envy the guy!!

  • That is amazing. I love MS-DOS games.

  • The time where REAL cardboard boxes full with goodies where the standard.. I hate todays mini plastic shitty dvd cases.

  • when did you film the unboxing ?!?!

    it looks old

  • @faoman2007 Probably in 2009 when this was uploaded. Clint used a really old camera for his videos so It's easy to confuse his videos for something filmed in the 90's.

  • I can totally relate to this weird fetish...its awesome anticipation...almost better than the game itself.

  • @phreakindee Well, technically, Wolfenstein 3d only has 3 episodes, but the copy you have has The Noctournal Missions Pack On It, which has 3 extra episodes, thus making a total sum of 6 action filled episodes of nazis, zombies, Gretel Grosse, and lots of blood

  • Ahhhhh that looks so.. Just... I wanna eat it! I love the smell of a new manual aswell

  • That IS pretty awesome! How much did this cost you?

  • I remember Midtown Madness 2, and Motorcross Madness 2 sealed similar to that, the same with Lego Racers and Lego Rock raiders... Of course, the Lego boxes are even bigger than those boxes :O

  • old times, jejeje xD

  • i used to watch my brother play wolfenstein (and civilization, bash, blues brothers, etc.. xD) for hoooours.

omg i just remember bash, what an awesome game!

    great vid (:

  • 12.95 value!!! l0l i loveee the way u said that!!!

  • Will you ever make videos like this again?

  • @DarkSphinxx Unboxing? I did some not too long ago, like AdLib for the PC...

  • cool buy wolf box (not the doom box) mmmmm start 5 $ (or euro)

  • i love how doom comes in that big a** box but only comes with two pecies fo paper and two floppy discs!

  • i agree

  • Whats better wolfenstein or doom

  • Hell yeah Awesome

  • You´re a lucky guy^^

  • that whole fuckin box for 3 sheets of paper and 2 floppy discs? Talk about a waste of space!

  • @Bittboy yeah games were like that back then, a huge box and only half of it is taken up by anything....however, at least you get an awesome space for some nice artwork >_>

  • just to let u know, there was a boxed version of doom 2.... i live in australia though. i miss that box :( :P

  • @milinm Indeed, I own it. It's one of my favorite game boxes.

  • @phreakindee - I own a original Doom (full) boxed set of 1.44mb floppies :-) well it makes me happy :-)

  • @phreakindee I got Wolfenstein 3D on XBox Live Arcade, and I told my girlfriend about the game Wolfenstein 3D, and she is interested in it. Are there any other ports to Wolfenstein 3D besides the P.C.? She must know! She loves games where the player kill nazis, and I must let her know ASAP.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 There's the MAC version (different from the PC version. Level layouts are changed a bit, Spear of Destiny bosses, etc.), the 3D0 version (MAC version levels, plus the PC version levels), GBA version, Atari Jaguar version, the unlockable version from the Xbox version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein (but that port of Wolfenstein 3D in it isn't good, mainly due to not being able to run), and also the SNES version (extremely censored). I think that's all the versions covered.

  • oye amigo es genial, como conseguiste los juegos originales? todavia se venden o se fabrican o son paquetes que no se abrieron desde hace años?

me apetece tener los juegos en caja y todo

hey friend, really awesome, how do you get the original games? they're still manufacturing and selling that games or these are games sealed since a lot of years? I want to buy the games with pack and else

    sorry for my bad english

  • @HidekiKusanagi These have been sealed for almost 20 years. I just find them online most often, eBay and the like

  • @phreakindee Oh I see, I have wolfenstein 3d version CD, but I want create a copy of the floppy versions (like the ones you shown in the video) for my nephew's pentium, he dont have cd reader, you know where I can download the game in "two floppy disk version"?

  • Why did you unbox it? :( You wasted the epicness of the package :(

  • @Ajanek It was cheap, I wanted to, I buy games to play them, the package really isn't that uncommon, etc etc

  • @phreakindee Sure thing. But at the same time I bought Fallout 3 collectors edition but the game is still unboxed. I just downloaded the game from the net. Sounds fair to me - the game is still in the box :) . Maybe it's just me, but I like collecting stuff. I remember for some time I got Bioforge (the first release, 1995) sealed. Oh gosh how happy I was :)

  • @Ajanek Oh I certainly like collecting things as well and have several that I would NEVER unbox! Like my sealed original The Need For Speed and Shadow Warrior boxes. But when it's something common, cheap and very much fun than I have no problem opening it. Plus it's a rush to open something that's been closed off for almost two decades!

  • @phreakindee Heh OK, I get it ;) I'm really looking for the first release of Heroes of Might and Magic II and III. Kinda hard to find :/

But anyway, gratz on your reviews. I noticed them like yesterday and I really like them. You say what people want to know about the game. Really useful. Maybe you can do a review of Betrayal at Krondor? Epic game as well imho.

  • @Ajanek Awesome, glad you're enjoying them.

I actually have Heroes II and its expansion boxed, I've been meaning to take a look at them. Same with Betrayal at Krondor, I actually got that one with the express purpose of reviewing it but have to get around to it. So check back, I'll get to them eventually!

  • Oh never mind, I thought it was a different version.

  • I can't believe you opened that.

  • If that this Does Not have the manuel I will Be Mad! AAAAAAGH!

  • dude u will be lost in wolf 3d fer hours it is uber awesome!

  • I miss the big boxes :(

  • lol floppy disk

  • I had copies of both games on my PC. In the early '90s, my dad brought home a shareware copy of Doom, and a couple of years later, we went out and got the full game. I still remember the mystique of walking into a computer store that sold games in the 1990s and looking at all the interesting games that you couldn't play on the SNES. I have Doom and Wolfenstein 3D on Xbox Arcade so I can continue playing these legendary shooters.

  • DUDE, I A HARDCORE DOOM FAN, ILL PAY LIKE 60 BUCKS FOR ONE OF THOSE, WHAT WEB SITE IS THAT!!! PLEASE RESPOND, I NEED TO KNOW!!

  • @fallendeadangle666 Knight Discounts is the name of the website. They still have sealed copies available, but the cost has gone up to about $50

  • god shareware version... only one episode... i couldn't imagine paying any money for the retail version of that cheap crap

  • I've been wondering... what does DOS mean?

  • @Bakemon13 Disk Operating System

  • I thought both games are in CD's. but they're diskettes....

  • so carful! i feel like crying the bigbox and was never opened. :o greastest unboxing 4 ev3r

  • That is a really great deal dude!

  • Doom 1 did come in a big box as well, it is rare to find on eBay though, more easy to find the Mac-version which is also in a big box.

  • @getpagesize It did, however as mentioned in the video I was referring to a large retail box. id Software had a box available for it, and there was also one in Europe and Australia at retail, but never in regular retail stores in America to my knowledge anyways. If I'm wrong I'd love to see a photo of a store-sourced US retail box, I've only seen the various ones from id and other countries

  • I got these two things on ebay too. I got them for $30 and the Mac version for $80.

  • 30 bucks? you can just download them both for free

  • @GameorX1122 Some people like to support the company, if you check my channel I have a video that can point you to a website that can point you to legal still easy to obtain and purchase copies of Wolfenstein 3D.

Sorry for the advertising but I just want people to buy this game and support the company that started a new era of gaming.

Or you can be a freeloader and follow the torrent links on the website.

  • The original copy of Doom I, which I bought here in Germany back in early 1994, was on 4 light blue 3,5" floppy discs and it came with a printed manual in English language. The box was smaller than the one shown in this video. Although there's no sticker on the box about system specifications and no registration card.

  • Oh yeah, Doom II was on 5 floppies, just like Windows 3.1, and took just about as long to install on my DOS PC.

Hearing that "Sploop! Sleegoop!" when your selecting the installation settings never gets old.

  • "Doom (original registered version) was never released at retail in the USA and was mail-order-only, so in effect this is one of the only American boxes for the game. "

Well that would explain why I cant find it boxed!

I am also lucky enough to own Wolf 3D, Doom shareware, and Doom II registered in their big boxes, and even better, all on 3.5

I got the Doom II on 3.5 from a lady that had no idea what she was selling. I got it for $5.00 + 4 s/h

  • do you have to run doom on dos systems?or you can just run them on windows 98?

and what pout windows xp?(i think i need doomsday for that)

  • @ultemad15red

To run it smooth then use dosbox.

If you wan't smooth and more detailed graphics then use skulltag or snowberry.

That's my suggestions if you use 98 or higher

  • @Yomamafist

    wow i never know that..thanks

  • @ultemad15red

    You're welcome

  • @Yomamafist I tried using dosbox on doom II. But it said "This program has a Windows NT style window" or something like that.

  • @Microsoftultimatefan

    Hm, sounds wierd.

    So it could not play?

  • @Yomamafist That's right.

  • Doom & Wolfenstein 3D are such a classic games. If you are starting to play games you SHOULD try these out. I have Final Doom for Playstation and Wolfenstein 3D on my computer. It's been a while since last play for these games. Maybe it's time to have fun again with these buddies. Killing some nasty demons & nazis.

  • Didn't DOOM have a manual?

  • The registered version from id came with a manual, but it seems my shareware version here did not. GT was cheap with their shareware, but at least they made a nice box!

  • Ah, okay then. Yes, the boxes for both of those games are impressive. Although I don't generally like 'unboxing' videos, as I think they are a bit too materialistic for my taste, this is a good video nevertheless and shows stuff that most people probably never got to see, as of course so many people only copied this stuff. It is always thus interesting to see the game boxes and manuals, even in a video. I was hoping you'd also install them and play them a little for us.. (-8

  • oh man that's gold

  • I love these games! I use to watch my mom play these all the time when I was a wee little girl.

I love your game reviews by the way. I remember all of these games and I love how you dont sit there and cuss at it like every other game reviewer. Very layed back, and to the point. two thumbs up!

  • @karnella Your mom played Doom and Wolfenstein 3D? She's awesome, lol!

  • perhaps the most awesome unboxing on all of youtube!

  • Yes, I do. Worth about $20 give or take, and I paid less than that. Now, the original release directly from Apogee, now that would be worth a lot.

And I unboxed them because I wanted to and I play games as well as archive the disks. For the games that are actually rare there's no way I'd open them.

  • Alright awesome. Sorry if I was a little harsh there, I though it was one of the rare ones and almost had a heart attack lol

    Awesome find!

  • Haha, no worries. The rare stuff, like a fine wine, stays in a dark, cool and dry place!

  • What website did you grab this from?

  • Knight Discounts - lots of odd, discontinued titles there

  • seeing sealed games makes me equally excited and sad. Such great games that never got any playtime. Just abandoned in some dark corner for years.

  • I know what you mean... it's nice to see them so perfectly preserved, but such a shame to keep them imprisoned!

  • I CAME D:

You're so lucky to find that for $15.

  • nice !

I love the old style packaging for pc games

  • What is the website id love to know I am a dos collector my self!

  • Dude you are fucking god for actually finding a mint condition collection of Wolf 3D and Doom!

I can't wait to see those two uploaded on UG.

    KEEP ROCKIN! \m/

  • I,ve got Doom and Doom 2 in nice big retail boxes with nice big manuals here in the UK.

    Yep.

  • Yeah, I'm still hoping to get the UK release of Doom, since there never was a nice big box release here in the US, only the mail-order one. Very nice.

  • Damm hard to find over here now sadly (still looking for the Final Doom retail box)

If i come across any more UK Doom box sets i,ll let you know and send em over your way :)

  • Only rarely seen it on eBay myself, so that would be simply awesome
