  • I remember this episode yeah I cringe every time I hear his HORRIBLE Japanese he even had a strong accent on syllables that are in the English sound inventory I mean I could understand him having a hard time with r or the single n but wow

  • lmao so good! XD

  • No argument from me on the point you are making (though being a non Japanese speaker I enjoyed the scene by believing it.) The thing is though it's no different than cops on TV doing things wrong or my nurse mom watching things in hospitals and saying "You don't give that much of that med", "She wouldn't be elevated", or "He's tubed wrong"

  • i totally want to know what he said. I am learning Japanese now for my second year in highschool and I kinda know what he is saying but I would LOVE some subtitles :)

  • @BloodyRainvV I honestly wouldn't try to learn Japanese by listening to this guy, since he's fucking terrible (although in my experience he's not that far off from most Americans trying to speak Japanese). My wife and I caught this episode on TV and almost died laughing at this part. I agree with Stei1124, it must be horrible to have to tell someone his Japanese is good after enduring however many takes of this. Why didn't they use the Japanese actors to coach him?

  • Omg I laughed my ass off, ROFL.

  • I've watched enough anime to know that his pronunciation was hilariously off. xD

  • 翻訳者の発音はほぼ完璧です。ほとんど。多分。

  • Wow Almost cried it was so bad

  • 「あなたの日本語、どこで習いましたか?」

    とても下手くそですね!

  • @JMX2280 最悪っすわ、笑

  • Wow,"arigato gozaimos",really?,The producer, writers of that show should probably google those lines at least, how lazy is that.

  • dude. give me a translation when you post the video. not never after. im not a japanese speaker so i cant tell and i like hearing or catching when WRITERS (not the actors. i hate when actors get the crap cause writers do bad translations that they cant fact check cause they dont speak the language fluently either) make mistakes like that. but yeah get that translation up soon please!

  • As someone who only knows a few words in Japanese, I thought it sounded pretty good. Anyway, I recommend the show even though it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.

  • I saw the human target yesterday and he his japanese didn't change at all! your right about his japanese tho. (i can barely understand because of his accent...) (Btw, i am japanese)

  • you were right about the あなたの日本語輪上手 thing. XD

やった!I think it all began with the sushi though.

He'll be great as a translator though, because he will always be hired by someone who doesn't know Japanese.

  • That sounds really funny. Some parts of it don't even make sense. XD.

  • Hahahahaha, that's awesome in a terrible way! You just made my day! Thanks!

  • I don't really understand Japanese, but this sounds like English!

  • i couldnt even understand it..... it was like giberish....

  • I have finally discovered the single greatest tv show of all time. Thank you for that..

  • Wow, either you made the same cringing face as me or I made the same cringing face as you.

BTW, have you ever heard the Japanese spoken in that old mini series Shogun?? It's quite laughable. Best line (with authority!): "Is this the Japans?!"

  • Bad Japanese is bad.........

  • he crapped it.. totally crapped... that accent.. uhggg... why didn't he train more for this preview?

still.. if you do something, do it well until the end...

  • LOL-thanks for this video:)

I don't know Japanese, but just hearing him pronounce things is cringe-worthy :P

  • oh....oh my god....no....no, please no....! "domo arigato gozhaimashu" UGHHH *throws up*

  • Yatta was picked up by Masi Oka.

    Before that, it was bonsai.

Then he figured out that it was supposed to be banzai.

If it had not been for Masi Oka...

  • ahhh man... terrible pronounciation!!! Borgey!! nice XD gozai-moose!! haha !!! it did sound like that!!! XD

    ~Nya!! =^-^=

  • And the old Japanese dude says he's talented at Japanese XD

  • All i gotta say.. gozai-moose.. lol

    Great vid made my day.

  • WOW they didnt even take time to teach him proper pronounciation that was horrid

  • no no no no no tht show is horrid

  • It's funny to see it all mispronounced, but he did pretty good considering he just learned the lines phonetically. Did you see Ryoko Hirosue's performance in Wasabi? Her French was fairly cringe-worthly too...

"It all started with 'yatta'" We've had 'yatta' in the UK for a long while now, but nothing's happened since then! :P

  • I actually totally agree with you, here. I know I chose an easy...target (bad pun). And you're right - Hirosue's French in Wasabi was cringe worthy. (I seem to remember a really poorly done bank action scene that knocked me over too with how lazy it came across.) I'm happy that you see the good in it!

  • I just realized something. I feel reeaaaaallllly bad for the Japanese actor... Having to say "あなたの日本語上手ですね。" to all that mispronounced crap must feel very indignant.

  • I dunno. Sometimes it is said as a compliment and sometimes it is said in a slightly dismissive fashion. Could go either way here. I like to imagine that it's sarcastic.

  • de-suuuuuu

  • ameri-KA

    Ha ha ha.

  • Alright. I finally decided to learn some Japanese. lol

  • Wait a second....aren't you Japanese? I watched your videos when Victor linked to them... I feel confident that your natural speech blows his crappy imitation out of the water. No worries, heeton. Ha ha.

  • You're right! I am Japanese.

  • I knew it! Ha ha. Nice singing, too, by the way.

  • クリストファーくんの日本語がとてもへたです!

    でも、ぼくも日本語ができません。>_>

  • 。。。wow i have been learning japanese for a year and im better then that guys kinda sad

  • i see what you did there

  • Well, it would seem like you've studied more than he has, so it's only natural that you're better. I wonder if he's even studying it at all.

  • I seriously doubt it. He doesn't seem to know where clauses / phrases / words end and begin. I'm guessing he went with your standard phonetic memorization.

  • whoa..i did cringe.

  • I cringed, until I realized that the delicious salt water taffy stuck in his throat may have had an impact on his speech.

  • It would be pretty cool if the Japanese language & culture became more of use in the United States something like Spanish ^^

  • Fat chance that it will ever come even close to Spanish. No way, no how. I guess it's nice to daydream, though!

  • lmao. this reminds me of that The Office parody on SNL where Michael Scott and everyone "spoke" Japanese.

  • LMFAO I agree 1:30

    I had the same reaction.

I have no idea how the Japanese actors in front of him kept a straight face. ohh boy

  • I can't find your heroes video. Do you have a link for that?

  • Those videos are part of my pre-YouTube blogging existence. The blurbs on my site (see the clip info) contain a link to an archive search. That oughtta get you what you're looking for. ;-)

  • That was painful.

  • See? It would have been a crime not to share it. So bad. So, so bad.

  • I have noooo idea what that guy said. I'm not sure if it was because I wouldn't understood it even if it was pronounced correctly or if it was because he mispronounced practically everything...

I cringed at the beginning, but when I tried to understand the rest, I couldn't figure much out... Heh.

  • LOL all he says is jozu XD even in movies XD

At least he could speak quickly, and if he didnt know what he was saying (LOL) its even more impressive to memorize that XD but yeah :3 thanks for sharing that cringeworthy scene

  • man... his japanese accent sucks...

  • i cringed for sure...
