I am buying a 30ins 2 octave saw and have seen a number of different blade tip holders. Could you please tell me if they are available for purchase, or do you have yours made to your own design. Also are you using a violin, viola or cello bow. Thanks. Steve
It'll either be Cello or Double Bass, as they work best, and there are some tip handles available for purchase, although they aren't too hard to make.
You can use a carpenter's saw but it won't have the same quality as one made for playing music on. Some of the older high carbon steel saws have a good sound. This is my mom and I believe she is playing the Stradivarius for this piece.I don't think that this one would work well for cutting wood though. She also has one made out of copper with a rhinestone encrusted handle
My musical saw has teeth and everything, so yes. The same sort of thing, just a slightly different material with better acoustic qualities, although you could use a carpentry saw if you wanted.
It is a saw. You notice a few of them hanging behind me as I play. Or are you just kidding? In fact as I was learning this and the other piece there were a few notes I wasn't quite reaching so I took it out and sawed a tree branch for awhile to see if I could get it to give me another note higher if I gave it a good work out. I might have gotten a tiny bit higher. ?? I have to be careful what I wear, I've snagged up a lot of clothes.
lol sounds like ghosts

Sorry for not knowing things but, if you say musical saw, is that the same or is it different from the kind of saw that carpenters use to cut wood?

The sound is spooky. It reminds me of a haunted house.

Although the saw is not often seen this lady has mastered it. She should be on a stage.
