I am looking to sell my Novation 49SL and buy one of these - I am not a keyboardist
- i need to trigger samples for recording and am finding 49 keys too limiting for some sample sets which use all 88 keys - would you recommend this 88es?
Hi, im buying this keyboard and i have NEVER used a keyboard before. Do you think it is a good choice and is the piano hard to play? Please reply as i am ordering soon! thank you.
@aarowsmith1 Well, to be honest, I use it for about a year now and I'm not that satisfied with the velocity. It is consistent throughout the whole keyboard and I did not notice any change. But I would NEVER use it on stage for example. It feels nothing like piano keys (it's semi weighted), but als does not have the quick action of a normal keyboard. However, if you compare it to the price, it delivers. But if you're a perfectionist, spend a few bucks more for a decent keyboard.
i actually hav one doubt... can i use a midi controller like this along with a soundmodule like yamaha qy100 so as to turn it into a complete keyboard...
the sole reason i want to know is that den the setup will be a bit cheap...
@9322002898 That's the whole idea ;) I don't know this module, but if it has midi you can connect it. You have to use an external power supply then, it has it's power through USB usually
@wartree Do you actually own one? I have to disagree. I've owned a Hammond B 3000 and played several other Hammonds, but it's not anywhere near it. The keys are way to heavy and they are not waterfall keys but piano keys. I also own a Clavia Nord Electro, which is far more like it. The advantages of the keystation are that it is lightweight, has 88 keys and it is cheap. But I would never ever use it on the road.
Honestly, for people who are just going to be using their computer as a sound module, then its not that bad to pirate all the soft synths. Unless you distribute them or something, just keep it tight in your computer and it will be fine ya know.
Hey i was wondering if i can get some weird effects/voices for this keyboard. i want to buy my first key board so i can experiment with it to get some psychedelic / progressive rock kind of sounds... so yeah... i barely know anything about synthesizers :P help me out people
Yes DarkSwordless, This is only a hardware unit meant to control the software synths on your PC, like absynth etc. This controller does not have it's own sound back installed in the hardware. For a simple way of explaining it, its like a joystick, that will control and software snyth program on your PC, either it be windows or MAC.
You can also midi from the controller into a midi sound module. they have various patches loaded onto them and i believe some of them you can load and program the patches yourself.
Which is your opinion about this keyboard. I have the prokeys88 es and its keys haven't quality, in my opinion. When you push softly a key, sometimes it sound and sometimes not...
I think it's definitely not the top, I have more trouble in the response it has when you hit it harder. But when you look at the price, I think it does the job right.
can u play it without midi? like just as a normal keyboard aswell? =/, coz i have no instrument thingy coz there expensive, how much is clavia nord electro 2 and native instruments electric piano?
There are no sounds of it's own if that's what you mean. You have to connect it to a computer with USB and use software, or connect it to another keyboard with midi.

this is a great organ controller, the semi weighted are the closest to organ keys.

which program do you use for this keyboard

It's connected through midi to a Clavia Nord Electro 2 for comparison of the keyboard, but normally I use Native Instruments Electric Piano

yeh pl =/ , is there any decent free software?

Native Instruments Kore Player is a good place to start.
Just get it off their website, it's got some great basic sound sets (synth and orchestral) to get you underway.
