  • wow, could I PLEASE watch a music video on youtube - older than 15 years - without reading a comment like "Uhhh, that's real music/talent/whatever - todays singers are all crap" or "I'm just 11/16/25/36 and I love this song"

    Stop it - please!

  • F A B U L O U S. True artistes. Thank you ladies. Love to all the girls, especially Ruth. Thank you for playing at the Civic, in Auckland, New Zeland a few weeks back. Please come back.

  • I love the POINTER SISTERS! I love how the Sisters sing different songs. All three Sisters have beautiful voices.

  • Anita , and June were freakin hot witht hose sexy overbites !

  • They all gave each other a shot at having a hit-Fantastic!

  • omg, this is the greatest hit ever!!!

  • how about more background and a longer version. the intro and finale

  • this is PROOF that true talent doesn't lip-sing while performing on awards shows..... these ladies were RED HOT in the 80's and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them,,, and still LOVE them as a 37 years old white guy.... my cousins did a video of, " I'm so excited" with us all on instruments and all... 7 of us WHITE kids busting out the POINTER SISTERS lol... we WERE youtube before youtube let me tell ya...

  • I love those girls!! White bread from Northern Ontario, here, giving those ladies their PROPS!! Pure awesomeness!

  • Ahhhh the good ol' days. I was also one of them white boys who loved the Sistah's. I saw them a few times in concert, the crowd, the energy, the hits! man, they just don't make music like this anymore sadly. I also agree that there were great songs on the Contact album that never got heard. Dare Me will go down as one of my all time favorite songs.

  • So many great songs. How "Dare Me" didn't make the top 10 I'll never know.

  • @zkhott, I love "Dare Me" but it probably lacked the immediate appeal of the hits from "Break Out". "Dare me" has a killer chorus, but the song takes a while to build up. Still, I believe their contract with RCA didn't do them justice. With a little more promotion, it would have made it to the top 10 - after all, it was a top 10 R&B hit and a # 1 dance hit on Billboard !

  • ladies gagas of 80s

  • There would be no destiny's child without the Pointer Sisters!

  • 3 people have no taste.

  • they can make you move anytime!!!!!

i m so excited ........first song

  • they can make you move anytime!!!!!

  • what's the name of the first song?

  • @derozemaffia i'm so excited.

  • 2:41 The sisters can't stand should to shoulder in these outfits :-)

    How are they not laughing?

  • Pointer Sisters= Best sets of legs EVERR

  • jesus what are they wearing? it's like somebody set labelle loose in the 80's

  • Woow, what a throw back Classic. When Tv was Parent Approved & Artists were talented, could sang and dress as well. Fortunate, to have grown up in the best musical era ever. 80's Timeless.

  • Juuuuuuuuuuune!!!!!

  • @AahSluta ...I second that....they all hot vocalists....but JUUUUUUUNNNNNNEEEE

  • gosh i miss the best part of life...

  • These are some beautifully talented ladies. I hope young ones appreciate. I'm sure they will.

  • mamma mia che belle, che bei ricordi

  • they are timeless.....RIP June! these are divas....when diva wasn't how rich you are, how many pairs of Jimmy Choo's you have, or when you used to be normal and you are now 40 and trying to be 19 and you marry someone 10 years younger who may be in the closet who buys you candy all the time....or you are a thick thighed, wailing, shrieking harpie married to a mogul who looks like a camel and you" think" you're an actress....there I go getting opinionated again...

  • @vivandav67 yeah, that was kind of unnecessary, especially attacking singers with real talent. If you want to harp on someone, choose a lip-syncher like Britney Spears, not a woman who wrote 17 #1 singles herself and has an octave range that can blow out your speakers.

  • @vivandav67...ROFL!!!

  • @vivandav67 lol I don't even know who you are referring to. I feel so uncool now

  • Oh man. I love the this combination version. Pretty cool.

  • leider nicht mehr zwanzig

  • they were all lady gaga of their time..

  • @LindaKhanh These people were PG rated.

Lada Gaga is unsuitable for minors.

  • I am going to their concert next month. I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

    They are great singers.

  • Really I love slow hand !!

  • They sure had a lot of hits...a lot of good ones too.

  • one of them looks like the duck from chicken little

  • mp3iiffy is the best site to get this mp3. google mp3iiffy.

  • mp3iifffy is the best site to get this mp3. google mp3iifffy.

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT !!!!!!!!

  • AwesoMe!

  • Seeing Laura Branigan reminds me what a talent she was that was cut so short.

  • To Angela the Galway Zephyr

Perhaps maybe we might have been, I hear the girls sing thier songs and my heart goes out and shouts your name.

Alas and and alack I get no reply, but in my heart and soul I know that "Some day we will be together."

    For old times sake.

    Jeremy

  • one word fabulous just great.

  • Unbeatable!

  • This is so great to listen to...they were and are still and outstanding girl group. Them sistas can sang...tall and elegant too!

  • Their harmonies are so beautiful and strong. I love automatic!

  • 1:39 I love when June goes "Aw no, girl!" :)

  • Noe thats the way to perform a medley

  • Now THATS how singers supposed to sound. Take note current artists.....

  • I ADORE their outfits here!

  • wow thanks for this post cuz I didn't know they sung those songs...nor did I know they only had 7 top ten hits. I was a fan of their earlier jazz music...

  • I LUV THE POINTER SISTERS!!!

  • Truly Stunning!

  • Oldies but Goodies

  • Ruth is my favourite. I always loved her deep vocals :)

  • Kudos! Ruth is a goddess amongst female vocalists, not to also say quite a beauty.

  • Little contradictions.

    I love The Pointer Sisters.

    'Slow Hand', 'He's so shy'.

But then, "you've gotta jump for my love".

    The Beatles did it, too.

'Money can't buy me love', and then 'Money, that's what I want'.

    Little contradictions.

  • Wasnt this the same night they recorded We Are The World

  • I'm So Excited

    Automatic

    Neutron Dance

    Fire

    Slow Hand

    He's So Shy

    Jump (For My Love)

  • I love the pointer sisters and im only 24 God bless June may she rest in peace :)

  • FABULOUS! is this from the American Music Awards, when Miss Diana Ross hosted ?

  • Great!! I love them!

  • RIP June. You died too young

  • Even better than your mother?

  • My mum stopped doing drag quite a number of years ago now.

  • When I was 5 I wanted to marry Anita Pointer, ha ha. She was my favorite!

  • Anita's my favorite too! There is a real sweetness about her.

  • Born performers

  • dam am soooo excited and i just cant hide it!

i actually live in the same apartment in hollywwood where the pointer sisters used to live during the 1980s

  • they rule the 80's era.. they are classic...

  • i loved these ladies in the 80's and they are still wonderful now !!

unfortunately, we lost one of them.

  • @KidRockEatsSmegma No, I don't think so. I think June Pointer's spirit is in Heaven...or, where ever good people go after life on Earth. June Pointer contributed good music and entertainment here on Earth and made people feel good and dance...so, I think she is in a good place. She may have a problem with drugs later on in her life, but she was still a human being, just like the rest of us, and like I said, she contributed good things on Earth. She also made millions. You're just jeolous.

  • AUTOMATIC!!!!!!!! YES!!!!

  • If you ever get a chance to watch the 24 hours in the life of the pointer sisters TV special. Call me & all your friends so we can record!!.

  • yes they were really singing...yes and no.most times at shows like this, the super bpwl and such.they pre-record the track and sometimes sing live and sometimes lyp sink to the track, incase of mic failure or bad sound

  • And you can tell this was REALLY them SINGING - not lipsync - I'm blown away. One of my 5 favorite artists ever - they just were IT. Thank you so much for posting!

  • NO GIRL GROUP SOUNDS LIKE THEM!!

They sound like a full choir!

  • AMEN!!!

  • Awesome--------I'm a 21 year old male and these girls are ace they've got it and could still top the charts in todays soceity!!!

  • Dancin' here! Love the Pointer Sisters!

  • We Are in a pretty sad performance era right now. we need to get back to this high energy music and performance. this is the music that puts goose bumps on your arm and you can't help but dance to it. I know that it really gets my adrenaline flowing

  • Now that was a performance...they managed to do all those songs, still sound and look good, and you know that was no voice. All I can say is that is what talent looks like. Thanks for posting this. One of my favorite groups ever, even if my mom was the one who introduced me to them :-) das woot!!!

  • Ridiculous you think, even if Patti Labelle is in the audience. Do you think there might be some mutual admiration going on.

Labelle and the Pointers knock my socks off but frequently.

  • I love the Pointer Sisters. I remember this from 1985. Dressing up in Labelle type space costumes was ridiculous though. Labelle did it originally & outrageously first in 1975.

  • American Music Awards 1985! Wow!

  • They look like LaBelle in those outfits LOL

  • The Pointer Sisters were really talented. They crossed a lot of color lines that other black performers weren't able to. They sang pop, disco/dance, country, rock and soul. They always sounded great. I think June had the best voice.

  • why is there no such thing as a stage presence anymore ccompared to back then. these girls are great!!!

  • Could someone give me a list of all the songs? I'd be much obliged!

  • 1. I'm So Excited

    2. Automatic

    3. Neutron Dance

    4. Fire

    5. Slow Hand

    6. He's So Shy

    7. Jump (For My Love)

  • What a great medley. I don't understand why they didn't have more international success and more number 1's in the U.S. America should've recognised their achievemnets before June's death.

  • coooooooooool!!!

  • really great. amazing medléy. they done really great songs..love it!

  • OMG I remember when this aired on TV when I was a child....crazy outfits gotta luv the 80's...June is jammin lol

  • automatic will always be my favorite

  • i remember seeing this when it was first shown... i taped it onto a Betamax tape! must have watched it 2000 times... Go Pointers!!

  • June was ROCKING IT!!

  • some crazy outfits of the 80's

  • WOW! I remember when this came on TV! I had it on VHS but some how lost it...oh well, brought back memories. Thanks for posting it!

  • Sorry, I mean, June...

  • what a wonderful time!!!

  • Sweet memories...Ruth...Laura...(RIP)

  • They were so great.

  • I still remember seeing this performance on the American Music Awards. Thanks for posting it!

  • The youngest one died June I love jump, so excited and AUTOMATIC LOVE HOW THEY DID THE VOCALS LIKE A ROBOT OR SOMETHING VERY INNOVATIVE

  • FUnny thing is fi you saw them you would not recognise them I got there DVD from like the early 90's they are fat!!!! voices are better tho weird a!!! dances are the same lol I still love them!!!

  • I remember this performance! I remember thinking what great hits the Pointer Sisters had and what a shame we had to hear snippets. Still, it was as much fun watching it then as it is now.

  • Wild outfits! What creativity!

  • Lovely! Twice, thrice or even longer would of course been even better, but it's impressing that they were able to squeeze so many tunes and emotions in just 5 min! Love the costumes. The year, was it 1983 or -84? There were no songs from the Contact album (-85) or later.

  • This was early 85, the AMAs.

  • Hell yeah! We had this on Beta Max way back when. Good times!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great never knew they did this,

  • I have seen pictures of this, but never the video. Thankyou for posting.

  • i haven't seen this in YEARS...thank you SO much for posting!
