@metalmikow you can quite easily argue they are generic, as they started in 2003 it's safe to say that nothing they play hasn't been done before and isn't being done by dozens if not 100s if not 1000s of other bands, and the mere fact that 1000s of others do it ensures it isn't progressive.

that said though, i would still say they aren't a generic band as they are a bit better than that, their music still catches interest and can throw you something you don't quite expect.

@HaloDiablo Actually that's an issue with the rolling shutter design of a large CMOS sensor...this was probably filmed using a DSLR body like a Canon 5DMII. Also the shutter speed is really high which is why it looks so strobey when the drummer is going fast.

I never quite understood when people bashed new vocalists before any studio music that was written for them really surfaced. All of the stuff TesseracT has was written for/by Dan, so of course he's going to do it better. I guarantee when they put out an album with stuff written for/by Elliot, it will be very good. The members of this band seem to take their musicianship rather seriously, so I doubt they would just pick up some hack off the street...

And especially the technique that Dan uses, the fry vocal, is probably the safest way to scream. And it's a pretty versatile style, too! But if you do it wrong (I've been trying to learn it for two, three years now and I'm still not even sure I know what to do, death growls instead were easier to learn), you can end up wrecking your voice.

Death growls do callouse the vocal cords to some extent but in minimal amounts usually, depends on your disciple.
