  • The starter is too close to the seam in the Ice & Water shield.

It should be a minimum of 6"-8" from any seam.

Don't forget to cut the tabs off so that there isn't that 1" lump in the first course.

    Hee hee!

  • Just so you know this is not an acceptable starter by industry standards due to lack of a 2" minimum headlap. They make a proper starter strip that you can use to achieve the proper head lap. If you are useing IKO thier starter strip is not acceptable (leading edge plus). Dude if you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • IT'S PRETTY CLEAR YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH. I HAVE CONTRIBUTED 28 YEARS OF MY LIFE SATISFING THOUSANDS OF ROOFING CUSTOMERS. SO GROW UP AND STOP HATEING YOU DUM HICK. BEFORE I THROW YOUR GLASSWALL INTO A BRICKWALL.

  • Do you even know why you need to cut the tabs off the starter strip? It is pretty clear you don't know to roof. Man what a bunch of hacks, you give the roofing trade a bad name.

  • @glasswall10

    Yep!

    LOL!

  • startter shingles needs to be cut from tabs, also this is almost a flat roof , pitch needs to be at least 2/12"

  • mecca is right, you're not even installing them right and doing the homeowner wrong, which by the looks of it, you do all the time

  • thats not even the right way to do it, you want to cut the tabs off and leave the adhesive at the bottom so the wind doesnt damage them, this is the lazy way out if you dont feel like cutting off the tabs

  • This is a great video of how to see a shingle roof installation Be sure to view other parts to this video like i have you will learn from these roofing videos
