  • Tried to play the intro of this song on bass about 20 times. I was about to drop it, but suddenly i got it and i felt like the greatest bassist ever, then i tried to play the rest of the song. I sold my bass.

  • @danielsd92 Yeah, I use to be able to play every single piece they ever wrote. And it really made me into a very well rounded bassist. But I haven't played for many years. Took up Celtic Harp and Guitar. I miss the bass sometimes. Keep it up! You won't regret the work!

  • i was so happy that i grew up in the 80's this band had so many kick ass tunes from the 80's.If any one has never has seen this band in Concert ohhh i strongly recommend it i have seen this band 7 times 6 here in Boston area and one time out in good old St Paul Minnesota .I wish they could play for 5 hours instead of 3 hours i promise you if see this band you will not be disappointed

  • I've watched a lot of Rush interviews, documentaries and the like. Many people say the Presto/Roll the Bones era music was very thin sounding. I disagree. Yes it may not be as in your face as some of their other albums but it has a different type of power. It features each instrument clearly and the keyboard backgrounds add to that. I think it is one of their better times as musicians, but who am I to say?

  • @CarMan792 I agree with you. Not only were those periods times of great music composition for the band but Peart was at a definite high point in his lyricism. The Pass? Incredibly real.

  • also when they once had long hair and cut it waaay too short (ex. roger daltrey, steve perry, etc.). It just screams "I'm older and not as wild and free-spirited as i used to be"...

  • I love Rush, but I hate it when male rockstars with long hair tie it back in a ponytail when they're on stage...looks so dorky and uncool

  • Guys picking their wardrobe for the shoot:

Geddy: Hmm, i'll go with a nice leisure suit and a pony tail.

Alex: I'll borrow one of ged's suits *snicker* he won't notice

Neil:...I came in my tin tin shirt, and i'll wear my damn tin tin shirt!

  • I didn't know Carl Palmer was a news anchor.

  • This song had an enormous resurgence in my mind back in 2002. Heard "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction" at least ten times a day back then.

  • That inspiration in the middle of the song, one of the best performances together.

  • Thanks for the video man! The best band!

  • Recuerdo la primera ves que vi este vídeo fue en una plaza acá en guadalajara, me quede apendejado cuando vi a Neil peart y Geddy en la parte media de la canción, increíbles!.

  • @ Disembow1280

I agree. Most popular pop and rap songs nowadays are just one hit wonders. Other kids in my grade think it's wierd to have more than a few songs on their iPods by one band, while I have whole albums of all my favorites.

  • Geddy Lee looks like BIlly Sheehan in this video.

  • My friend says that RUSH songs suk. He suks balls I say. RUSH Rules and will live on forever in everyone, especially all the people that will pass RUSH on to everyone!

  • I am so learning this bassline

  • What ab underrated song!!!

  • presto é um album digamos que mais calmo, uma fase mais light do rush.

um album muito significativo na minha opinião.

não é um moving pictures nem um signals nem um 2112.......mas é rush mesmo assim rsrs

  • Re: Rush used to be better than this. How can a group get better than this? To quote Picasso,"As a child I learned how to paint as an adult, but, only as an adult did I learn to paint like a child". I hope you don't hate Picasso as well. Ignorance is bliss so I am told. Explore different directions of art!

  • @StellarJetman Maybe it's b4 dawn. Stop being a douche and just watch & listen.

  • O álbum Presto é pouco citado quando se fala na discografia do Rush.Mas é um trabalho que curto bastante.

  • Screw this " Bull Shit ! " . RUSH use to be MUCH BETTER than this !

  • Such a great song. One of my favorites from Rush.

  • This song is fun as shit to play on the guitar. Had no idea Lifeson used a 335.

  • and i thought geddy lee was just the greatest bass player of all time, HES GOT MOVES TOO!!! 3:07 and 3:21

  • AFTER ( 1984 ) : THE " GRACE UNDER PRESSURE "

    ALBUM ; I COMPLETELY LOST INTERREST IN " RUSH " !

IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THEY LOST ALL THEIR CREATIVE

IMAGINATION , WITH NO MORE MUSICALLY INTERRESTING

AVENUES TO EXPLORE ! ! ! I HAVE GIVEN THIS CRITQUE

SERIOUS CONSIDERATION . AND IT BREAKS MY HEART TO

SAY, " THAT ONE OF THE MOST ORIGINALLY MUSICALLY

PROGRESSIVE BANDS ,OF THE MID 1970's - THE MID 1980's,

HAS LOST IT'S TRUE IDENTITY AND SOUL . "

  • @MrDAVIDEO84

    Hello mate,

Firstly, don't type entirely in caps. It makes you look stupid.

Secondly, Power Windows, and Hold Your Fire are great albums, just a different sound.

You can't expect every album to be the same sound, that gets boring and unoriginal. When they try new sounds, that is when they create a variety of great tracks. And their greatest hits, is a large variety of sounds for everyone. But a true Rush fan will like most everything, because it is all good material.

  • @MrDAVIDEO84 I disagree

  • @MrDAVIDEO84 you might just not like Rush in the first place. i don't know how else you can dismiss every album from Power Windows onward. there are so many "musically interesting avenues" explored after Grace Under Pressure. if i had to be honest i would choose Test For Echo as their last really great Rush album. but considering their age, Neal's personal losses at the time, and the state of music in general post 1996, i don't blame Rush the band at all; just the times and...circumstances.

  • about a thousand of these views are mind....I'm an 18 year old black guy and Rush is my favorite band...guess what my kids are gonna listen to?

  • How do they remember every tune.??? incredible.

  • @waybent335 I actually dout they still remember how to play songs like the Fountain of Lamenth, but ask any musician that question & ou'll get the same answer. If you keep playing the same songs over & over again (practices or concerts) they eventually get infused into your head & will end up never forgetting them. Music is one thing that will always stand the test of time.

  • they better remember how to play Fountain Of Lamneth for the Clockwork tour or imma bust a knuckle

  • @DJmcRUSH The Fountain of Lamnet isnt bad either, just doesnt make so much sense as most songs.. And thanks for the vids

  • @DJmcRUSH they might not remember fountain, or stuff they dont play live like Take A Friend, Chain Lightning, or The Big Wheel, but as evidenced with their recent live performances of Presto, Entre Nous and Faithless, it shows they can relearn a song well quickly

  • @DJmcRUSH You're basically right, except that only good, true, and honest music will stand the test of time. I'm pretty sure anyone born in my generation (early 90's) can rattle off at least 5 to 10 famous rock bands over the past 30 years. When asked the same question about pop bands, they can only name one or two, if any at all. Name at least one pop band whose music will still be well known after 20 years.

Spread the word. Rock needs a comeback.

  • @waybent335 it is amazing .. I used to wonder how too, but , as I write more and more songs, I find that you DO remember everything you write because the song is a real emotional part of you. But, man, that sure is a bip catalogue to remember ..

  • @waybent335 They practice tons, of course.

But take this as an example:

Me and some friends of mine are thinking of forming a band, and since the last year's summer we started writing some songs.

Some days ago I decided to ask my friends if they had the guitar tabs, because I wanted to check them out again and work more on them, because the song was awesome.

They didn't have them... but when I got home I decided to pick up my guitar and "voilá"! I remembered it.

Music comes from the heart ^^ .

  • @waybent335 ha..no..you do forget them..trust me..

  • This song is always finding it's way into my head. I remember when PRESTO was the NEW album. :D

  • in the recording hes using his wal you can tell

  • Love the sound of those toms. Big, huge drums tuned high. I wish more drummers used this approach

  • man, that bass breakdown-ish thing there at 2:46 to 3:32, with emphasis on 3:15.. people wonder why i look to geddy lee as an example as a bassist...

  • I have seen Rush over 60 times, since I was 10 in 1978. My much older sister took me to it @ The Nassau Colesium, on Long Island, which was my first concert.

I was fortunate to have grown up in the 80s, and I was lucky that I have enjoyed that decade to its fullest. I feel bad for anyone that grew up with the seattle suicide bands of the 90s. Those bands were always like " Wooo is me ", who wants to hear depressing seattle bands, they want to hear rush.

The 80s ruled, no better time like it!!

  • @Pumby0 to all of the seattle suicide bands... listen to The Pass off of this same album

  • What you're hearing is the awesome sound of the Wal bass on the recording and not the shitty Fender on the video. Yechhhh!

  • @sleightofmike Agree! Although I don't dislike the Fender Jazz, I think the Wal kicks the shit out of it.

  • neils snares cut through pefectly

  • This song has a nice crunch to it. Something that Rush has always been good at, but haven't been doing nearly enough.

  • I hate majority of mainstream music nowadays, I walk down the street to hear teenagers of my age singing lyrics about weed and fast cars and women, give me a Rush album anyday.

  • Rush still rules! Since 1982 I've seen them 14 times...

  • Did he use the Wal bass in the studio for this one? I have always assumed it was indeed the Wal, but maybe Im wrong? His bass live these days sounds horrible. Very little tone, and too much bottom end and thin sounding treble. But even his new material sounds great in the studio as far as the actual sound of his bass.

    IMHO.

  • @RallyCat909 It's the Wal. He didn't start using the Jazz again until Counterparts.

  • You never see these videos on T.V.

Stupid. All they ever show are the same concerts.

  • This has got to be the last video Rush made where Geddy wasn't wearing glasses!

  • I love the sound of this album..it's like they wnet back to basics after exploring the 'synth sound' throughout the whole 80s...and just focussed on being a rock band again. Awesome!

  • @sarkissamuel

Rush's 'basics' were nothing like this.

  • @Headrush13 Sure they were, no synth--just guitar, vocals, bass, drums. Basic rock n roll. The style was different, sure, it wasn't as progressive because they took a more simpler approach with "Presto". It was awesome.

  • @Headrush13 Dude, Rush never was a static frozen band stuck in the 70's. And just cause you can't change with the times doesn't mean Rush and all their other fans are supposed to sit there with you trapped in the past. Evolve. It's music and it's art. If they didn't take chances then we wouldn't even have had the albums that are worth your praise. What are you complaining about anyway? Just listen to the 70's albums over and over then.

  • @sarkissamuel Presto was really more of a transiton album back to rock; Roll The Bones was the coup de gras.

  • Everday I wish I could live in the 80's. I was born in '93 and these days everything seems to have basically gone to shit. Artists go into a studio and sing whatever into the mic then they put autotune and generic overused drum samples over it and get Lil Wayne to laugh into the mic and they turn it into an mp3 file and a bunch of kids download it for free online.

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010 I am 40, you did not miss ANYTHING in the eighties they sucked. Music is much better know, there is so much variety and with the advent of technology (ipod, dvds, mp3) it is easier then ever to get and listen to your favorite music.

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010 A-motherfucking-men.

  • Gedlee1000 same I was born in 97' which I think thats the year Neil's daughter and 1st wife died. The 80's was the best. today's music is crap. I hope in the coming years people result back to the great wonder of Rock. Rush doesn't give a crap whats popular. They play whatever the hell they want to play

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010 i feel your pain, a 90's child as well. i wish i had been born in the 60's so i could have been old enough to appreciate it

  • @bobthekiller32 i was born in 64 ,so i remember it all. but thats probably because im a drummer! i guess i had the best of the 70s and 80s. you dont find to many drummers that play with feeling like neil peart or dave matthews drummer, carter beauford.basically a jazz style type of playing.I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010

The best thing about growing up in the 70's was having my teen years in the 80's. It was the perfect decade to grow up in. Had the best movies and music. Nothing today even comes close.

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010 yes it's gone to shit... but get all the good stuff from '67-'96 !

  • @OneLeggedPuppies2010 Yeah I agree for the most part. But if you search hard for a while you find great little gems.

  • very late 80s/early 90s look ged has goin on...

i think he looks better in a pont tali than he does without one. i know it doesn't realy matter at all but whatever....

  • perfect song for the current times!!

  • awesome...i love this album :) thanks
