  • that's everybody's favourite way to play! Nice crush!!

  • This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you go about getting your ECF, Elo and FIDE ratings up? I'm still at school, and only just started really getting into chess, and naturally I completely dominate mini-school competitions we have, and I've watched all your videos and play a lot on ChessCube, etc and I think I'm quite good. I'd like to start getting up my ratings, any advice?

  • Could you give me some advice on building opening repertoire?????Really I loose many games due to bad openings...I don't know which kind of openings fit me....

  • Good game and interesting with the f4 idea, I sometimes play it and I see the dangers of it in this position. However I think you overestimate your position almost always, if slightly. For instance he probably could have played a more solid defence, sacking a pawn earlier for more activity instead of just waiting to be run over. Great positional lesson though!

  • i have a question what is your rating now and what is your rating when you in high school.

  • Thanks for sharing :) Well worth my time even if only for your positive attitude, AND I learned a thing or three ;)

  • brutal game. Just cruel how you to squeezed a win from "only" a better bishop. Guess he was pretty frustrated after the game. Down with the Colle-System!!

  • I believe many players do this mistake of playing "solid" openings (the Colle in this case) against higher rated opponents. This is a great example of why that strategy may be incorrect. It might be better to complicate matters tactically and strategically even if it means playing slightly unsound just to enhance the probability of mistakes from both players.

  • for the second game you keep saying how easy it is to win. is it still easy if your opponent played perfectly? eg chess engine. i'm still a low rated player, and i'm trying to learn how to recognise that you have a winning position as early as you did. i can see the good vs bad bishop, but intuitively it still doesn't look that easy to win

  • well PLayed!

  • great video this too is my favorite way to play, but i got an excuse im 32 !!!! you should frive off of complex tactis !, anyhow as a slow possitional player myself who is beyond hopless at complex tactical possitions, do you have any advice or reading material on keeping things simple and possitional, forcing the opposition to play this slow?. It seems to me more and more chess is about material and tactics , which is a little worrying for someone like me so its godd to see thanks !

  • @mcpartridgeboy Thank you for your comment. No material comes quickly to mind, but I'd recommend searching for the games of Petrosian. The Caro-Kann is a suitable opening for this positional style and with White 1.c4, which both generally are dominated by strategic ideas.

  • @DraganLalic thankyou peter, i do indeed play the caro kann every game in fact i caro kant play anything else for black, i tend to play d4 for white, i know the english is good for a slow game ! i will certainly check out petro, what you think of karpov ? thanks !

  • Straight into my favorites!
