@cuzcatlan36 she's already immensely popular and incredibly rich so she DOESN'T need that anymore ...... hmmmm if you don't know. OR I GUESS YOU'RE NOT AWARE AT ALL with who is EMMA
Hmm I dont like these question's Wheres the fun stuff! Like What's ur favorite Color :D Or Whats ur favorite car brand or what do u watch or something O.o LOL
@thomas4457 becasue the point is Fair Trade, like People Tree. The questions were supposed to be about this topic, not material stuff like cars and stuff
Fair trade is about the only clothing (unless made in US) which is just about always guaranteed to be created, sold and distributed under fair conditions. Inhumane sweatshops dominate 90% of all clothing/fashion lines and Fair Trade is the alternative.
Khadi is an entirely hand crafted fabric produced by artisans in rural parts of Indian subcontinent. Among all fabrics, Khadi has the lowest carbon footprint. Moreover, spinning activity can be used to light rural households.

She isreally smart and well educated! She is interested in these sensitive and undiscussed matters like making the world greener and helping not just the unfairly used people of the developing countries but also all of us by actually not intoxicating our skins with mutant Fabrics!
Aww, Emma you're so lovely! I buy fair trade as well as organic, and when I find fair trade organic products I get that added bonus. I admire her so much more, now. I was always a fan of her as Hermione and like to see her in other things, but learning that she's doing far more to help the world and not just giving girls the incentive to be clever (like it did me), which is a great incentive to provide, but now she's doing so much more. I'm really happy for her :)
Ohh my gosh!!! I can't believe how gorgeous is she!!!! I mean she's the most beautiful girl on earth.OFFICIALLY!!! besides she's very intelligent and kind.... I love her so much
I would love to see more videos of her in Bangladesh and other parts of the world supporting this cause when she's not in school here in America that would be most wonderful
@vishnurvardhana1 few things. First of which is that third world is not a derogatory phrase it simply refers to a country that is not modernized or up to date with today's technology. Secondly as long as she's not saying the N word who cares?
In regards to Emma's response that she's less aware of fair trade clothing lines in the US - I'm proud to volunteer with Las Otras Hermanas, a nonprofit in Phoenix, AZ that supports a clothing cooperative in Juarez, Mexico. Check it out!

why would ppl said she is dumb? she seems intelligent to me. Her exam scores and the way she answers interviews. :) i enjoy watching her interviews, which i rather do for other actresses.
Emma is cool.. But now I noticed a few black spots. I can see that Emma uses the term 'Third World'. Is it acceptable? I think this term came up during the colonial days. It was used in a derogatory manner. I don't think Emma has derogatory feelings towards anyone, it was just that she was oblivious to the needs of political correctness which she being a celebrity should not be so.
I love Emma. Her answers were fabulous. You can tell she knows a lot about Fair Trade and why it's so important. I wasn't aware of Fair Trade, before Emma became involved with People Tree so I'm happy she's using her celebrity status to bring attention to such a great cause.
For example one of Emma's clothes cost about 200 dollar!!! That is like a brand name price!!! And we know brand name clothes are over priced just because of the brand's name. How much of that 200 dollars actually goes to the workers? Even though they are paid fairly they aren't paid like buisnessmen. So I think when people say that they want to help make fair trade more popular they shouldn't over-price their clothes. They should have a FAIR PRICE for both the producers and the consumers.
@alinasofya its over priced because workers get paid more for their work which is fair thus the term fair trade. also economics works like this: supply and demand. if there is a lot of people demanding it, prices will go down versus if people aren't then prices will go up. thats why their overpriced. unless we start demanding more fair trade, the price will stay the same.
@YourOasis97 You're right about it being more expensive due to higher wages, but that's not how the law of supply and demand works. it's the opposite actually. If there is no demand for something, it'll be sold for cheap because the sellers need to just get rid of the thing and make some money. If something is in huge demand, that means sellers can set prices higher and the items will still be purchased, thus prices will go up.
@YourOasis97 If supply is short, demand is high, so prices increase. If there is excess supply, demand is lower because there is plenty of product to go around, so prices decrease.
The answer to the first question: How do you get Fair Trade to become more popular?
It is not just by spreading the word. It is making the clothes cheaper. I DON'T mean make it cheap fashion but fair trade clothing tends to be over-priced.
@alinasofya The reason it seems "over-priced" is there is so little going to the people who make the inexpensive clothing we compare it to, and there are several people involved in each garment whose time and work is worth more than a few dollars. That being said I've found other Fair Trade certified products like tea that aren't ridiculously priced and fit my student budget. If the price is fair it probably won't be dirt cheap but I think you're right it's important that it's affordable too
This interview was great, i found it through Snitch Seeker on Twitter! Your clothing company looks amazing, (I LOVE that "Roisin Umbrella Dress"--BEAUTIFUL!) and i'm really impressed by your values! i subbed to be sure to see more from you guys! :) Take care!
