What a beautiful dog! video brought tears to my eyes! The words in the song helped lol I have seen these dogs ocassionally and never knew what they were. Looks playful with a loving personality and they don't shed did someone say? I had 10 northern and northern cross dogs all in the house in groups of 3 or 4 lol You can imagine the tumbleweeds!(sadly I,m down to 4 and every time one ends up crossing over rainbow bridge they take a chunk of my heart with them) Less hair in the distant future hmm

this is a perfect example of evolution seeing as though this breed is purely man made, or it is an abomination of the previously man made breeds of a labrador and poodle either way it is in my opinion a very non essential breed of dog, but more suited to someones taste, however if you consider this as a scientific role that brought this breed to its current state you could not disallow the fact that every breed of dog has been engineered to its current state from the wolf by man.

"All breeds of dogs are modified wolves"(Richard Dawkins) It just so happens that someone thought this would be a good breed of dog for whatever reason I will never know nor care to, its a very unappealing breed to me. And let me correct myself by saying this is a perfect example of artificial selection not evolution. Read a book moron!

@SoothSayer79 while the labradoodle was a designer dog they were actually designed as a seeing eye dog for the blind with dog allergies as they do not shed, unlike the labradoor. They are therefore quite a relevant breed of dog and while their application as seeing eye dogs is limited the fact that they are extremely intelligent, exceptionally good natured, do not shed and are genuinely adorable means they have become exceptionally popular as household pets for good reasons.

There is no way to know, Labradoodles are mixed breeds, not a breed. Therefore they could have charactereistics of EITHER breed.

It isn't likely that they would be aggressive, though, is it? I have one dog now, that is a cross between a lab and a golden and he is the most gentle, sensitive dog you have ever seen.

It could. in my opinion, no responsible breeder would breed a mutt you can find in a shelter. Aggression is a problem that can spring up from poor genetics found in these backyard breeder lines.

@rideshorse05 many people like the mixes. what started the "breed" or "cross" was for services dogs for people with allergies. all breeds start out as a "mutt" so dont be so quick to judge. aggression is a result from improper training and is not something that can be passed on from parents to babies.

@rideshorse05 i know all about the three types of coats.what i like about them is that they aren't as heavy as the labs very intellegent, not as much shedding and not as many health issues. like a mix because of different characteristics and health issues. pure bred dogs are prone to different diseases because of the limited gene pool. atm theres a labradoodle association in australia and they are working on getting the "mix" to become a regular breed. theyre working on making standards.

I agree with you that it's a shame that they are no longer breeding the dogs. Our boy is the sweetest dog & get's so many comments on how "beautiful" he is. Ruby was born on Feb 1, 2007. I would love to meet/see pics of some of her siblings but it sounds like Murphy was born a few months later than Ruby. Ruby's mom was Gotta and her dad was Abe. Who were Murphy's mom and dad? Post some pics of Murphy, we'd love to see him.
