  • $720 a year... GTFO

  • @italianbroker1 plus taxes and activation fee

  • OVERDRIVE = OVERHEAT it suks

  • well heat in my opinion plays major role.i got 2 usb modem sticks the one cost me 40 euros and was made from zte.kept overheating and disconnecting after every 4-6hours.but since the speeds i got from 3g+ connection in my country were pretty fast i decided to go for a more expensive usb stick and so i bought huawei usb stick.cost me 80 euros but has been so stable.never overheats and never disconnects.same speeds though.so heat (which has to do with product quality and thus price ) plays role.

  • Had the mifi for a few days, kept overheating and shutting down. got the overdrive yesterday and it works just as fast and has only d/c once in 24 hours! more importantly unlimited 4g!! fuck verizon

  • Just pick up one today still testing it out

  • well now with verizon's new lte 4g i thing verizon ftw but im with att LOL

  • i just got my overdrive and is working great all over california!!! and what i like the most is that when i use 4G i have no limit on my data!!!!

  • My overdrive has been a spotty hunk of crap from day one. they've sent me a couple replacements and they all end up doing the same thing. It's a good idea but far from what they promised. For $60 a month it should be a lot better

  • @Keyo717

I have the same problem with my overdrive as well. My original one worked great up until about 3 months ago. It has been a steady degredgation in reliability since then. They upgraded me form the "Old" Overdrive to the new one, which looks the same only smaller 2 weeks ago. worked great at first. Now, same problems. 20 min to load this youtube, only the first 20 secs so far...dropped connections, random disconnects and reconnects.

My old air card (256k) was faster, and was reliable.

  • @RoyalDragonusa yeah it's crazy they just get worse.... now mine over heats a lot...

  • @Keyo717

My first one blew the battery from over heating. I got a new one today... BRAND NEW, it's running very hot, and is slow. I have had it like 4 hours. This new one is having difficulty connecting to the 4g network too. I have to have it near the top of an outside window for it to work. Even then, the connection still cuts in and out from time to time.

Not on the road anymore, so I called comcast. I am going to go back to a hardline.

  • @RoyalDragonusa Once I move I'm going to do the same thing. I had heard the new smaller one was in fact worse than the older one ...good luck

  • 我要买一个!在哪里买啊?

  • very well presented and good solid advice

  • Sprint is a European company and they have been trying to off load this company for a while now.

So don't expect them to invest money on enlarging their 4G coverage or even increasing badwidth on their existing wireless.

The 4G in America is mostly hype. Even the 3G in this coverage is in a miserable state.

  • Very well done on your review. Informative, didn't take 17 minutes to unbox even 2 products! Thanks you helped me with my purchase.

  • sprint rockss!!

  • nicely done review. i still wish people would include actual figures though.

  • I also found the Overdrive and 4G to be more hype than reality. I've found that a 4G tower just doesn't give that much coverage. I've had an Overdrive for several months and unless it gets a very good 4G signal, the 3G connection is faster. I swapped it with a co-worker who had a Verizon MiFi while on vacation. I had 3G Verizon coverage where there wasn't Sprint or AT&T. I found it and AT&T to be generally faster than Sprint's 3G.

4G is fast with a strong signal, don't trust the map though

  • sprint forever with nextel att and verizon sucks

  • FiOS FTW, MiFi and Overdrive FAIL HARD

  • Yeah, Sprint Overdrive sucks. I'm not at all surprised you didn't get the advertised speeds.

In Meridian, Idaho, I will sometimes get the advertised speeds, but when I do, the device is quick to have battery and overheating issues, and will actually just lock up.

So, pretty much, Sprint sucks. Their device has NUMEROUS issues, and does not deliver on the speed at all. You're better off with Verizon, most likely.

  • I got the overdrive thinking that it was going to be really fast but it sucked

  • sprint rocks, verizon sucks

  • There are very few cities that have Sprint 4G service as of yet. So, the Overdrive is pretty useless right now and probably will be for a long while.

  • useless video. Was it a review?

  • was hoping you were going to say the sprint device is super fast considering the verizon is only 600 Kbps - 1.4 Mbps sucks

  • @james007torres24 It's pretty good for a wireless use anywhere device though. It's even faster than the DSL at my Mom's house!

  • the sprint thingy suxxx majour dick as im sitting here my 4g bars are losing connection and now it's searching i mean wtf

  • I wish you could use these things by paying month2month. I HATE contracts!

  • @MysticMaven You can use the Verizon Mifi month to month if you pay the retail price on it (no contract). That's what I did. I can suspend or cancel my service at any time.

  • The reason I'm subscribing to you is because your information in grate

  • The Sprint coverage map shows Austin, TX as basically saturated 4G, but I could never connect faster than 56K — and never got a 4G connection. And many times not much faster than 15Kbps with lots of drops on 3G Needless to say, I returned it a few hours later no questions asked. Interestingly, the Sprint store couldn't get 4G speeds on their PC, either when I asked them to demonstrated while I was returning it.

I quickly went across the street and purchased a Verizon MiFi on the spot.

  • @font9a I should mention that the Verizon 3G MiFi is giving me 1.5Mbit down and put to 1Mbit up pretty consistently :) Hopefully WiMax will come of age, or At&t will finally allow tethering for my very capable iPhone 3GS (which cannot be hacked anymore) and consumers will have freedom and the appropriate price points for data access.

  • Did you get paid to trash it?

  • this thing sucks. it gets hot i mean really hot. the battery doesn't last long at all. and it wont charge while its plugged up in wall or computer. so you have to leave it alone for couple hours. it drops connection and needs to be constantly restarted. i hated this thing. its as bad as clear. the tech is here but still proto

  • @sykesmarcus

guess i'll be keeping my sprint mifi2200. i have yet to lose a signal and it works great on my ps3. i'm a otr truck driver i thought my online gameplay days were over, since i had this mifi2200 i been online every night. thanks to the mifi

  • @esham976 so it is compatible with the PS3?

  • @venomousleif

yes but, online gaming will burn the 5gb limit very quickly. trust me i know. cost me $208 bucks for going over the 5gb limit. it's best used for strictly for roaming the net. also watching online movies will also eat that 5gb limit quickly also.

  • Can't connect to a VPN with this device. Sprint confirmed this, and has no solution.

Shame, because I really liked it, but that's a deal killer for me.

  • I would tether the unit to my lapyop and get 6Mbps average which is much faster than either my sprint, verizon, or AT&T cards. When I connected via wifi the speeds were very similar. The overdrive release a firmware update 2 weeks ago that improved the throughput to about 4-5 Mbps. If you had this device on version 1.05 you need to upgrade to 1.06. it improves speed by 10.....

  • I got one last night (sprint) and so far it's been pretty cool. It's faster most the time than the 3g card I had from them. I did have a few drops from 4g and it went back to 3g but for the most part it was working well. I also used it with my PS3 and that wasn't much faster with game play but was MUCH faster with downloads than the using the 3g air card. I will take it out and around to see if the speed gets any better they are saying it depends on your location with the 4g.
