Wow, awesome to see people being baptized. Too bad so many here are arguing about a glorious thing. Jesus would shake his head and walk away to read soem fo these exchanges.
I wonder if they where baptised for the right reason? Baptism comes BEFORE forgiveness according to the Bible. The man here said they were saved last night but baptised today - wrong way round!
"Repent and be baptised for the remission of your sins" Acts 2:38 Baptism & repentance together are neccessary for remission. "Now, why wait any longer? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, trusting in him to save you.' Acts 22:16 Paul, already a believer had to wash his sin away in baptism.
If what you say is true (which I don't believe it is) you have made Jesus a liar because the word of God says Luke:23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
The man had only to believe in Jesus Christ and he was awarded eternal life. Praise God for his mercy. Thank you sir for your comments today. I had another reason to open my Bible and let his Holy Spirit in me confirm the scriptures.
I quoted you Gods own words re the purpose of baptism. If you do not believe Him you have a problem!
Seems you do not know the Bible, specifically the fact that there is an old testament & a new one. The old was with Israel & lasted till after the death of Jesus. The new was instituted AFTER Jesus DIED. Christian baptism was not instituted until the new covenant was iin place. The thief & Jesus lived & died under the old law, so how could the thief undergo a baptism which did not exist?
Sadness is what I feel when I read your comments. I praise God I'm already a Christian and have a sound faith in the Bible. Christians like you turn more from Christ by following the ways of the Pharisee's. I will pray for you.
1. Obeying God and encouraging others to do so is not phariseeism
As for you, you have no right to decide for yourself what part of Christs will to obey or how to obey it. Believe it all & do things the way He tells you. "be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selvesJam 1 :22
None of us can say, Ill obey God my own way as an excuse for not following the commands revealed in the word of Christ. Such is self-imposed religion that does not honor God Col 2:20-23
Part 2. Obeying the commands of Christ has been looked down on in this past decade or so, even among so-called Christians. There are many such as you who believe that obedience does not have a place in obtaining salvation. Even a casual reading of the New Testament shows that such is not true. God repeatedly emphasizes obeying His commands and the failure to be saved without doing so Matt 7:21-23; Jno 8:31-32; 14:15; Acts 2:37-38; Heb 5:8-9; etc. "Trust & obey, or their is no other way"
You're running around being a busybody and trying to measure Christians by your own convictions. God gave each Christian the power of his Holy Spirit dwelling in their souls. I have his Holy Spirit to be my guide and direct me. I have his Holy word to read as well. I have a husband over me who I am submissive too and he loves my LONG hair. You sir are a hypocrite and a pharisee and will turn more souls from Christ doing what you do. You are taking scripture out of context to fit your ideal.
Why don't you believe those verses? I have followed with interest the interchange between you and daddy. I have checked out the verses he gives in their context. I cannot see how the context changes the meaning of the passages. I would be interested in knowing what makes you think they would mean something different in context and what you think they mean. I would also like to know, in the words of the passages, not your own words, what baptism DOES in Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16 & 1 Peter 3:21.
Did I ever say I didn't believe the verses? Nope I sure didn't. I believe the WHOLE Bible every word. Read it for yourself and decide for yourself what it says. You are looking for an argument and I'm not taking your bait go find something more productive to do with your time.
I wonder the same thing, them younguns are pretty young, but read your verse. Repent & be baptized. When they got saved , they repented. No one should be baptized who hasn't truly repented. The scriptures say, "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned." It doesn't say he that believeth not and is baptized not. BELIEF is first. Then because we believe we're baptized as an outward sign of what has inwardly happened. A sign of our obedience.
Belief is first Amen! AND Jesus said to not hinder the children coming to him. Who are we as adults to tell a child they aren't old enough to believe? I know these children personally and they love Jesus and believe he has saved them.
I sure hope so. If they endure to the end, then you'll know. If not, then it's no diffn't than infant baptism. Jesus said of the little children: "Of such is the kingdom of heaven". Did it evr occur to you that Jesus was tellin us heavn is full of children? up til 100 yrs ago, half of the children born nevr saw 16. Youngns dying before they were accountable. I reckon far more folk will be in heaven that came in as younguns than got in as believers.
Thank God for all your faith and keep your hearts and eyes on Juses and all was be a light for him

In the time it takes present these arguments, how many hungry could be fed? How many naked clothed? How many sick nursed? How many enemies loved?...
