  • I highly recommend the next albums, that Swano is involved in one way or another:

    - Ophthalamia - via dolorosa

    - Katatonia- brave murder day

    - Dissection - the somberlain

    - Dissection - storm of the lights bane

    - Gates of Ishtar - dawn of flames (underrated band, but excellent melodic death metal!)

    - Therion - theli

Advice: most of these bands became weaker or softer in their music in the end of the 90s (not necessary bad at all) ', but these albums are definitely fine crafted METAL!

  • LOL well it's not like he CAN'T make a living at music. He works at a shop because he wants to be around family and his girlfriend and apparently he can't keep up the grim vocals that he uses in most of his bands and projects. He could still play guitar and sing in Nightingale, though, but his family is what's keeping him from touring any more. Not because he can't make it haha, the dude's a legend in the metal scene, if he can't make it... nobody can.

  • @TheSteveGiant Well Dan got his studio. And i know that many bands recorded stuff there...He made so many records that are VERY popular...You mentioned that he is legend in metal scene...So if he is...Why he could not have money...Think with logic...Not with some gossips...

  • If your a Dan Swano fan please check out my band/music/samples as I'm influenced by Dan Swano. By band name is Dawn Of Dreams myspace dot com /dawnofdreams07 and I must agree below, I like the original version on Inferno better hehe

  • I admit I like the guitar playing on the original somewhat better. (Specifically, how it began with the main riff there).

But I think Dan's singing here is much, much better. Also the audio quality.

    Both versions are great, anyhow.

  • The world of metal (in fact, the world as a whole) owes Dan Swano and his fellow metal musicians for bringing us great MUSIC.

    Thank you Dan Swano.

  • I like it better than the original. Awesomeness.

  • Dan Swano - Unquestionably THE most underrated talent in Metal! (which begs the question - WHY THE FUCK IS THAT??!! He's got more talent in his thumb nail than most of the pissants out there these days!!!)

    Dan Swano - 'Nuff said.

  • I love this.

  • He reminds me of Anthony Head singing in Repo the Genetic Opera. Which is kinda cool. Never heard this guy before. Very nice.

  • The song is otherwise pretty great, but why the fuck is there a laughter at the end? That almost ruins the whole song. :D fucking horrible...

  • only a god like Swano can cover a song from one of his bands with another one of his bands! genius!

  • NICCCCEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • good

  • ...and also is it just me, or can I hear someone laughing at the very end of this song?

  • In my opinion Dan swano's absolute greatest vocal peformance.

  • Awesome - I was just listening to Edge of Sanity's "losing myself" from the album "infernal" which is pretty good - but this version from nightingale is fucking epic!

  • why's here under every video here on youtube a comment about justin bieber? i mean.. i don't really like him, too but i think there's a point where it's enough oder don't you think so? in my opinion it's enough. because everybody knows it now because there's a comment under every, really every video..

    btw, awesome song :>

  • only two guys love justin beiber and but plugs!!!

  • Half the time I like Swano's demos more than his redos. Even the demo for Remorse and Regret is better than the version on "I"... :/ Even the lyrics are way better.

  • Is it still a cover if the songwriter is performing it with a different band?

  • @templeofbone Actually this song is written by Jonas Renkse from Katatonia if I remember well...But I think this is a cover anyway :)

  • @ZephroCornellan he wrote the lyrics

  • @0m3l3tt3 ac/dc and motörhead makes cover of theirself in each album :D

  • Comment removed

  • amazing i love these guys screw that rap and hiphop this is real music

  • Swano to be put bluntly is a complete

    fuckin'

    amazin'

    genuine

    musician

    One of the world's best

  • This

    Is

    Amazing

    Love it :D!

  • you know "Losing Myself" would make a good title for a Dan Swano biography (something that MUST happen!)

  • If you're "in" to death metal his growlies are great, but I understand what you're saying :) He's a wonderful vocalist and musician, which is why he's a Swedish legend.

  • I agree! This singing is the better way than the grunting^^

Nightingale is one of the best band in the metalscene!

  • @GripOfGreed you suck!

  • Kein Grund, gleich beleidigend zu werden, du Arsch!!

I had to write this in german, becaurse my english is not good enough to write down, what i am feeling when i read these words :-D

Why the hell are you saying, he sucks?? Why? Becaurse he doesn´t like grunted voices? If yes: you´re stupid as one meter highway!

  • @realzubunapy you cuttin' wise with me?

he sucks becouse he has no idea of what Dan Swano is famous of - his unique growling, dumbass not becouse he doesn't like grunted voices, I like swano's clear voices as well as growls but that's not the point... if he's writing that swano's "growls kinda sucks" he's a fucking ignorant knowing nothing about this man and heavy music!

  • @MrUlysses31 I don't even know what you guys are on about exactly.. but I'm going to chime in. Yes, Dan Swano has a great range of growls and clean vocals. He has great vocals. But he cannot sustain for long the type of vocals that melodic death metal (or extreme metat) takes in a live gig-- he apparently never trained his vocals to do so or simply cannot do it.

Aside from this we can all agree that Swano is a mastermind, yes? So is Peter Tagtgren, both renaissance men.

  • I think jonas renske is singing one of those

  • I love this song. So addictive.

  • In 2 months Swanö has become my fav musician.Edge of Sanity, solo career,NIGHTINGALE,Pan Thy Monium...he´s amazing.

  • don't forget Diabolical Masquerade

  • Sure,but I haven´t heard anything from them.Was Peter Tagtren involved?

  • @theinmortal6 Don't forget Odyssey

    and Moontower

  • @theinmortal6 oh man< that's good to know, i had the pleasure to listened swano stuff in their most creative stage, the 90s. I Remember when i got my first cd of edge of sanity, purgatory afterglow, and how odd the note of "in memory of k. cobain" was back then in a death metal record. Then crimson was released! and then, i was looking for any project related: nightingale and ptm, diabolical masquerade, godsend, therion, uuuf very cool times.

  • @theinmortal6 Welcome to the club dude, hope you stay forever and we all get to hang out as part of "the dreaming dead" when we finally face "the Big Sleep". Cheers \m/

  • Amazing remake, faster and more energetic than the original, the original had a bit more atmosphere though.

  • Очень хорошо...

  • I wish I was as dynamic as Swano. :(

  • Bravo Dan !!!!

  • How do you 'cover' your own song?

  • different band, better quality, different sound, there's lots of ways.

  • Better quality? Just because you're a wimp and can't handle metal, doesn't mean you should cry about it.

I really wish Swano would get EoS back together, or just make death metal again under his own name (i.e. moontower). I can't stomach Nightingale. I never could take progressive rock seriously.

  • lol dude you don't even know me. First of all, the original song was hardly metal, it was just an awesome rock song. I wasn't "crying" about anything, all I meant was that producing quality has increased since 1997.

Furthermore, EoS is one of my favorite bands and Death Metal in general is my favorite genre, so don't act like you know me. It's ignorant and makes you look like an ass.

Also, I agree, Swano should make a Moontower sequel.

  • You obviously don't listen to dm if you're bitching about the production of the original track.

  • quote where I was bitching about the quality. Support you're argument cause I can honestly say, I never bitched.

  • He will make on. He confirmed that there will be a Moontower II. Let's just hope he sticks to his fantastic growling.

  • No shit?? That's sic I'm fucking pumped now!

  • That made me laugh :p

It's just Dan Swano (from Edge of Sanity) singing in this

  • Comment removed

  • hes friends with the other EOS singer Robert KArlson and did a "duet" with him on the Evolution cd. and Dan was the singer on the original version of this song. i also believe it was Dan idea to have him replace him. so yea im sure he didnt do it to spite him which would really make no sense.

  • Hm... true. Maybe he just thought he could do it better now. *shrug* Then again, he did all instruments (save drums on this ablum), so maybe he just wanted to see if he could. In any case, Dan Swano would have to be my favorite musician/producer of all time.

  • no, i think it was cause the song was pretty much the first Nightingale song, he said that the song gave him the idea to start NIghtingale.

  • I would have sex with this song

  • me too, matbe a threesome huh?

  • I love this song, unfortunately the Nightingale are not very famous

  • I can't find this album anywhere :( it's not on itunes, amazon or ebay D=

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Edge of Sanity, infernal

  • I JUST downloaded this album off itunes man!! Not even kidding!! I just bought it a couple days ago!!

  • worth it? I'm considering buying I love Swano, but I can't find the stuff online to preview, there's only a few studio songs of Nightingale on here.

  • they only made 500 copies I think. I found it online, message me...

  • just fucking amazing,,, I'm so drunk right now after the Iron Maiden concert that I don't give a shit, but gosh this song kicks ass

  • If you were that drunk, how did you spell all that right with proper grammer? :P

  • Well, maybe not that drunk after all haha

  • :P

Good song though ain't it (:

  • drunk on good music XD

  • do you know what shop he's at?

  • it's sad that Dan Swanö is working in a guitar shop to make a living, while them rappers record one song which takes 5 mins to make and become millionares.

  • Some people aren't in it for just the money. I think that really tells something about a person. Respect to Swanö!

  • Totally agree :/

  • Actually, I prefer this.

    Sorry Edge of Sanity.

But this has so much more emotion behind it.

    Only this song though.

HELTER SKELTER - EDGE OF SANITY IS THE BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN

  • Excellent cover

Doesn't beat the original, but c'mon. What does?

    Edge of Sanity forever.

  • like the EoS better. but Nightingale is a great band

  • swano is great must be said

  • Slightly better than the original. Dan Swano is truely one of the greatest musicians of our time.

  • He's Dan Swanö, therefore he is a genius

  • LOL that's true!

  • Hmm wow I didn't know Nightingale covered this, I like the EoS version more because the singing here sounds somewhat more powerful, which doesn't fit as well in my opinion. This is still great though.

  • man swano is such a genius

  • In wich album can i find this? (Not in Nightfall Overture for sure!)

  • Yes actually, this is on the Nightingale compilation album, "Nightfall Overture"

  • my mistake. I meant "The Breathing Shadow" Thanx for sharing

  • I <3LOVE<3 THIS SONG AND DAN SWANO!

  • love the song=)
