Man I used to love thrice they were my favorite band; I named my e-mail address after them and everything (I know kinda lame but I was in high school.) But they're softer turn has really disappointed me. That which I loved best about them is gone. Dustin really isn't that good of a singer, and should stick to screaming. Example - Limousine off the new album at first glance seems like a love song (in a weird way), but really, it's about a drunk driving incident. People don't see that they just hear "love you so much" and label it as shit.
That and the average intelligence of humans everywhere soon drops under the 70 IQ marker, so that would account for all this. You notice at how many people say "cuz" and "imho". I am way too bitter.
Yeah that song is about a 7 year old kid that died because her uncle drank too much on her parent's wedding night- The accident decapitated the girl and left 2 others dead. That's why at the end he's actually saying "1 will love you so much..." "2 will love you so much..." etc until 7- for the girl's age. Like someone else said- Lyrically Brand New is untouchable.

i just saw thrice play at the wiltern about 3 hours ago....they played this song PERFECTLY!!!! It had been a while since i have seen them play live and they sounded soooooooooooooooo good!!! they have blown me away all over again! fuckin insane....oh, and brand new sucked, they play some pretty gay shit. At least the girls were into it....i left after the 2nd song, i couldnt take it anymore. Could have gone for thrice headlining...

I first saw Thrice a few years back (before Vheissu) and I thought "just another freaking crappy emo band." Then I heard Vheissu. It is rare that a band is able to reinvent themselves in a way that they can leave behind the chains of a genre, or even classification. To the old fans who can't appreciate it, I am sorry. I am sure some other crappy emo band will come along to fulfill your need for bad music. In the meantime I am eagerly anticipating Thrice's new release.

Near the second chorus I thought Dustin's voice sounded like it was getting tired from hitting all those high notes... and at the end of the chorus he goes and nails the crap out of a note a full step higher than all the other ones. How wonderful.
Oh and this performance sounds pretty dang good, comparing it to the studio version on Thrice's myspace... pretty near flawless....

The lyrics bring a unity amongst religions and even science. Read some quantum physics books and you'll see a connection there. Also he doesn't write negative songs. Even his seemingly dark songs have some thing postive in them, regarding Vheissu at least.

It seems like it. But then again, this was recorded in october, they were not even done recording, so I'm sure they changed stuff around. This song was probably a prototype.

"Thrice are a Christian band" - Well, no. Dustin is a Christian, I'm not sure about the other members but even if they are or aren't, it isn't fully integrated into every song. You can notice it in a few tracks, but Thrice are about much more, they cover a lot of stuff.

Watch an interview where Dustin talks about the topic. He himself says they're not a christian band. do some research before you talk. It's important to know where they lyrics come from. It's not a question that the lyrics come from the bible, C.S. Lewis, and Dustins beliefs. But Thrice is no more a christian band than Hobby Lobby is a church.

I first saw Thrice a few years back (before Vheissu) and I thought "just another freaking crappy emo band." Then I heard Vheissu. It is rare that a band is able to reinvent themselves in a way that they can leave behind the chains of a genre, or even classification. To the old fans who can't appreciate it, I am sorry. I am sure some other crappy emo band will come along to fulfill your need for bad music. In the meantime I am eagerly anticipating Thrice's new release.

Near the second chorus I thought Dustin's voice sounded like it was getting tired from hitting all those high notes... and at the end of the chorus he goes and nails the crap out of a note a full step higher than all the other ones. How wonderful.
Oh and this performance sounds pretty dang good, comparing it to the studio version on Thrice's myspace... pretty near flawless....

Thank god this band knows that. I find so much of their stuff absolutely inspirational. It's great when you can listen to awesome rock and roll, and it still has a great message to it. Thrice, Skillet, Flyleaf Red...Awesome Christian music is on the rise because people are starving for truth and they don't even realize it.

It's the way Dustin writes the songs and the words he uses that I connect with. He says 'image of the "invisible"', 'an "unseen love"', 'children of "light"'. He doesn't use the word 'god'. The lyrics bring a unity amongst religions and even science. Read some quantum physics books and you'll see a connection there. Also he doesn't write negative songs. Even his seemingly dark songs have some thing postive in them, regarding Vheissu at least.
