  • Nasheed wants to get attention and popularity of international media. He does not want to do things beneficial to the maldivian community. He should be ashamed of himself representing "Maldives" and people of the country. How much aid did he get from the international community to protect our environment. How much did he get from leasing our international airport. It must be more than 1.3 billion dollars. Where are these dollars why had the dollar rate increased to 15.42 from 12.85.

  • We need foregn currency to import goods from other countries. These are things we require for our basic needs. How many people in our country lives under poverty. More than 70 percent of our country shares there income within their family for their basic needs. 60 percent of their income is spent for rent in Male' and 1/3rd of the population of entire country lives in Male'.And 60 percent of the population of Male' lives for rent and they are from the rural atolls.

  • My question is what has he done for the development of these islands. Why haven't the government or nasheed relocated people from tiny islands to a bigger island. We don't need to promote a good transport system. This is a matter for the rich people who owns 20 story aparments in their own land in Male'. Because if Nasheed's goverment fails this would be a real big problem for the land owners.

  • It's like Islam is now where Christianity was with the crusades.

  • this is all that they can to disagree on what each other have to say if we inforced islamic law and rule we wud not be having this problem today and for those who say we are a 100 percent islamic nation just take a walk around male and see how many things you see which are against islam stupiDDDDDDDD

  • umar naseeru kaley napolean once said eyy kiyaa gen foakey foakeyy thikiyanee napolean eii kaaku kan ingeyy tha. hehehe i had a good laugh on tht one. anni and kutti laughed thier ass off hahah :P

  • The individuals who attacked the tourists are a few Maldivians who are members of a group called "DOT community". Currently there are only abt 200 of them al over the Maldives, Mostly teenagers. These are kids who were extremely interested in learning their religion as the government does not teach them well, and got hooked up with so-called "MUSLIMS" on the internet who spead thier false beliefs to destroy the unity of Islam..

We need to save these guys before they spread..

  • Well, I would like to warn the Maldivians about a Danger thats rocketing directly at them. I have read several articles about, "Religious Freedom" in the Maldives written by Apostates of Islam, Former Citzens of the Maldives and some Christians.

Religious Freedom in this population of 300,000 ppl whose origin is Islam would create a catastrophe in the Maldives.

Today, Maldivians are proud to be one of the two nations which does not tolerate Falsehood!

I really wish to be on of them....

  • Tolerence is the key.. Umar Naseers' views are very much out of touch with the masses. But then again he is only an amateur.Naseer has a long way to go

  • So...holding on to the fundamentals of Islam (or in other words, the basics) leads to extremism as the three 'scholars' unanimously agree. I wonder what kind of Muslims they are if they oppose against holding on to the basics of Islam... The line is slowly being drawn & the hypocrites are revealing themselves...

  • This is a media stunt, its more than 800 years Islam is practicing in Maldives, there was no such incidences. If you vedio any small street fight and crack down that infront of media to exegerate that as a big issue to gain suport this is what you will see. Toay we cant trust any media they are so biased and motly influenced by coperate business.

I wonder why Aljazeera cannot make a vedio like this on the very fragile economy and envrionment of Maldives.

  • Surely class struggle must contribute alot to religeous interpretation.

Poor population worship differently compared to the rich population.

  • Anyone who knows anything about the Maldives knows it's been under a dictatorship for decades. That is 'extreme.' People wishing to practice their religion freely isn't 'extreme.' It's a right of any pluralistic society. The dictator of Uzbekistan tortures Muslims to death under the pretext of fighting 'extremism,' similarly the dictator of the Maldives is using 'extremism' as a pretext for a crackdown on opposition.
