I had the zune 120gb. it was working fine up untile i wiped it and decided to re-sync everything. Mcafee started scanning my pc and i think it killed my zune. because it stopped responding and now its dead.
-.- mine did too. about a year ago. clicking. failure message. the whole works. it was plugged into my xbox and just fried. scared the crap out of me. i called to see how much it'd be to get it fixed cause it's personalized and i didn't want a refurb. yeah. 180. i could get a used one for that. not worth it. i'm still without. lol
@crusherbad64 Dude, I totally understand your anguish :/ My 30gb died a few months back. But I just bought a refurbished 120gb from eBay like today, and to see this video just did a number on my soul! Hopefully the longevity of it is substantial.
Same thing happened to my first gen 30GB today, although it did last 4 years and I dropped it over a thousand times. Never froze on me once in those 4 years. I was very satisfied with it, I just hoped it would last forever lol
damn shame! hopefully they come out with bigger flash space players like 100GBs I wonder if it makes sense to get two HDs. i got around 98GBs and hate using computers at home for music most of the the time.
I have a quick question about your Zune 120GB. The back panel on your Zune 120GB is glossy as the front. My Zune 120GB has only the front glossy and the back is matte black metal finish. Where did you get your Zune 120 from??
i want to buy a 120gb zune or a zune HD, but im undecided i want both. the problem is, people say Zunes aren't realiable, the hardrive in the zunes tend to crash and its just a matter of time when it does. is this true for all zunes?
@uuuhahhhh I disagree with that. I have the 120GB Zune, never had a problem with it. My mother has an 8GB black Zune and she loves it, she never has any problems with it that I know of. My father has my old Zune, the 30GB which was the first gen that came out and he STILL uses it with no problems at all. So I wouldn't say they're unreliable, I like Zune. I would have gotten the HD if I knew about it before I got the 120GB, but then again 120GB is ALOT of memory so a good deal. =)
So basically this video is you complaining about your zune crashing..... Oh ya and you new 16g zune.... "WoW" all of these fucking comments are pointless and dumb, wait... just like this video!!!!!! NO ONE CARES!!!!
hi! sorry for the bother but i have a huge zune problem and i wanted to ask for your help :)
my zune charges perfectly on another computer and turns on and plays and everything when i disconnect it, but when I plug it into the computer that has the zune software, the software recognizes it for about five seconds and then the zune turns off? ive tried different USB connections, re-installing software and even replaced my battery? idk what to do anymore lol!
I just had the same problem with my zune 120 a month ago and my girlfriend just died and then my mother's died. If you call tech about getting it fixed they want you to pay about the same price of the device when you first got it wtf.So now im getting a ipod because they can't even cut me a deal on they're crap.
My two Zune 120s had same problem . Both needed new hard drives. One also required new hard drive ribbon cable. New hard drive found on eBay (~$70). Ribbon cable found on Amazon.com ($15). PATA/ZIF to USB adapter needed to test old hard drives and initialize new ones.
It's only the 120's so far. I've had a 30gb and 80gb Zune for 2-4 years or so and they still work great. I don't use them as much anymore since I got an Ipod.
hi! same with my zune 120 gig..kinda upset for me, it doesn't work anymore.. tried fixing it but it's just got worst. it stucked up in number 5 that says contact support!!! too bad.. any update if there is other way how to fix it? big thanks
I had the same problem but twice. I bought a Zune 120 for my daughter in May 2009. Her disk died just about ten days past the warranty expiration in 2010. Costs as much to fix one as to buy a new one, I discovered. I figured hers died because she was wearing it while jogging, etc. Meanwhile I had bought a Zune 120 for myself in Feb 2010. Guess what? It died about 10 days out of warranty (in Feb 2011). But I had never jostled mine. Seems like they're designed to die ASAP at your expense.
I went out and bought a new 120g loaded it up with 90g worth of music and try to sync it as little as possible. Need someone to post how to fix this model so I have 2 zunes. Everyone hyping up the HD; sure it's great but the the space of the 120 is crucial for me.
Ya it would prob wrk better with it have flash memory and all and with the web browser.. That's one thing I was wanting with the 120 but I'm loving the iPod touch I'm using to post this lol so far I haven't had any problems with it what so ever
ya me and my sister each got a zune 120 and hers dies within a year and mine died 2 months l8r plus the hold switches failed prior 2 the HDD so ya zune SUCKS! go with iPod i have an 80 GB and its lasted me 6 years and its still goin!
Well that sucks. My Zune 80 is still delivering after 3 years, hope it stays that way. Too bad flash based music players can't accommodate my ample library.
The Zune 80 did have plenty of hard drive issues. That is one of the reasons the Zune 120 was developed. If you want to keep your Zune 80 running then make sure you keep it away from a Kicker ZK500 dock. I learned this lesson on my ZK500. The bass from the ZK500 is just too much for the 80GB hard drive, but the 120GB handles it with no issues.
you probably dropped it alot

@xMarkuzx It was mostly sitting in the dock.

You can get a 120gb hard drive on Ebay for $80. It's not rocket science to replace it.

Zune 120gb would be such a great mp3 player if it wasnt for its stupid hardware failure bs

I'm not hardware-savvy, so thank you for posting this video. It's helped me to diagnose the problem with my own Zune.
