Ok lets go through this Lezak broke the world record in the 4x100 relay last night by swimming a 46 flat. Nobody has ever swam a 41.

first of all, the 46 flat was from a relay, in the actual 100 free METERS, nobody has gone under a 47.

and the 41 is in short course YARDS.

you see, METERS are loooonger the YARDS :)
