@Toejaminator no its like sim city, except you can build forced labor camps, initiate martial law, assassinate/imprison malcontents, overgraze, deforest, pollute and destroy the enviorment. or if you're boring you could build a tropical paradise where everyones happy. I'm trying to build a Guantanamo Bay where its nothing but prisons, the only free ppl will be the guards and the few farmers/entertainers who will directly support them, the rest will be imprisoned under a convict labor system

@natritious1 well theyre not exactly secret.. and imprisoning people pisses off their families and is probably frowned upon by some faction or super power.. it can't been done right away.. you have to build up your industry first and if you try to dick around your population before you're powerful enough to fight them they will kick u off the island..

@walmartian lol if everyone was imprisoned you could select the "Off to Florida" edict (something like that) and all prisoners will be sent to florida for 3 years (is that new for trop 4? Idk but it's interesting) xD USA gets mad though. Interesting idea! I will try it on Trop 4. However, for campaign it isn't a very good idea to create a Dystopian society. That's what sandbox is for!

@DeathlyDavid yea but they wont make any income in florida, if you pay the prison guards $5 then each full prison generated about $400 annually. its not really a way to win its just for when you have the cash to blow and for the LOLz of building a prison colony

On greed, I have an army of 2000 and a rebelion of 500. I over load the game (Xbox) by selecting a building, then moveing away from it. I spam the ammount of soilders and garud stations as well. Then, I kill alot of poor pepole as they come off the ship in a huge Line. The rebels spawn on the beach, They rush up the hill and its a full head on Rebel VS Army fire fight. No One Line Shit. A huge Mob VS Mob. I wish i could make a video of that save.... Dose anyone know how to record Xbox to PC???

i remember playing tropico 1, i raised the pay of the soldiers to maximum, and everyone started to join my army, that made my economy turn to shit, and then most of them became rebels and i lost the game =( but it was a fun game!

The rebels in this game are the toughest rebels in the world. I had a 16 man army going up against 3 rebels. At the end of the battle I had just 2 soldiers left alive.

@Halogrunt69 Try building farms and speeding up the time speed so you dont do to much in one time. Also dont forget to build food producing buildings and a garage first befor any thing else ,then when your money is stable you worry about what the people want, and then your free to do whatever.

I wish the combat was a little better. The trailer got me excited because it made it seem like when rebels attack it's an attack on the city as a whole with them taking cover, fighting in the streets etc... Instead they just mass at El Presidente's palace and wait for an all out brawl just like the first Tropico. Muzzle flashes on the guns would have been a nice touch too. Still a good game I just wish they made the rebel attacks seem a little more real.

Rebels are always be my earliest military challenge, US invasion usually become later problem because i've never had good relation with them...

USSR always close to me though because i build apartments for all my citizens, i thought it's funny that a farmer live in the same place with a college graduate engineer so i built some expensive condos and suddenly the US destroyers left my island....

lol, i had 1 guy rebel in my army against the rest and he took them ALL down even my avatar :( then he blew down my man building and end of game, so unfair lol.

btw if you dont mind me asking how the heck do you get population to grow in sandbox mode? it goes down or it stabalises at what i started it at. nomatter what i do i cant get my population to grow in sandbox mode, all i got was 4 people growth for 11 years, so that made it 74 pple, after that it went down back to 70 lol :S

I think you can't attack rebels, that's a shame! It would be much easier if you can attack that rebels! Amnesty is also a great way to defeat the rebel threat! You can't even control your army! But its still a great game, with a great gameplay and it is so much better than the second edition!

P.S. TIP start with farming, then build some industry and finally fill in their needs! (an army is also handypandy)
