Sounds like the keypad has gone bad. It can be replaced.

i have a question???if you take your screen off and there is nothing wrong with it and put it back on should it work?or does the screen have to be replaced?

Hey the backlight for the keyboard went out just recently on my Treo 650. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this problem?

That sounds like a motherboard issue since the lights or leds are on the motherboard. That is my first guess based on your description.
