It's been an ordeal getting (keeping) it on the road.

Got approval from the roads authority (they pulled it off the road)

I now need a "road worthy" this final inspection checks that it conforms to the basic things like brakes/light/tires, safety belts and so on.

Once that is done it's good for life and no other paper work needed, just driving.

I had to get rid of that exhaust as it was way too loud for street use. I pulled the one I've got on my US M5 and swapped them out as it's more suited to OZ regs and has a deeper tone. The US allow more decibels, so the swap will be fine.

PS...I wish I had a camera running when I did that run up the mountain.

Yes the video never really gives the right impression as to the true sound.

That was when the ute was in initial start up, so for a few mins it's loud and a bit too edgy.

But after that miles quieter.... love the STIHL comparo! funny.

I had to put back the resonators to soften the sound as in the city it was too loud, now I'm taking off the exhaust I've got on my US M5 and doing a swap as it's got a much more rounded & heavy/deep tone, that won't attract the wrong attention.

I would say it handles as well as the once M5 did, but I actually think it's better now.

The braking is better from a "dive" point of view under heavy braking loads....hardly drives at all

The center of gravity is lower then OEM and that can be felt with the overall balance.

It's only a few ponds from perfect a 50/50 front to rear balance.

I'm adding 40% heaver springs to it shortly, this may be too much, but it's just a bit too close to OEM right now.

We did think about that but we didn't want the "wide body" kit look as it needed to stay close to stock in touchy areas like that and could kill the "look".

The rear fender was from a normal wagon and that was a bit wider then a normal M5 so some track width was gained.

The suspension is currently closer to stock then something sporty and even with this set up it hardly dives at all under hard brakes.

There are some newer clips of it being driven that give the more true sound of it under load, not just in cold start up.

if you wish do a search m5 ute and you'll find a few.

The OEM resonators have been added to take the edge off the sound under 2k, but after that it's still got weight.

The weight is 1,919kg (4,200lb) with a full tank.

There is a new clip of it at Phillip Island with Paul Stokell (pro) doing a couple of laps to check out balance and suspension settings, good sound bite.

Weight balance was near 50/50 split, so not light at all in the rear end like normal utes.

I take the "needs bigger brakes" call was a bit sarcastic?

380mm (15" fronts) isn't lacking in bite.

The sound it makes is partially from the Kelleners M5 exhaust (no resonators fitted) this rough sound only happens when the car is started up when cold.

Once warm (a couple of mins) it turns very quiet at idle.

Not sure of the sound under driving conditions yet, but if you do a Youtube search on Kelleners E39M5 you'll probably get 75% of how it will sound.
